@@wargamesontoast Aaaaaand I am sold. After watching that I am painting them up right after I am done with my Spearhead. Seeing the Mindstealer Sphiranx and Slaughterpriest, the two I have been most tempted to ally in there was the final nail in the coffin for me. I know what I am grabbing in the new year to be friends with these cultists.
I played through a long narrative campaign with Jade Obelisk and really enjoyed them. The out of activation movement possibilities with the Obelisk Bearer was key to my game, I really enjoyed the toolbox they brought.
That Quad is fantastic. I do wish Bloody Tribute was a bit easier to pull off though!

So, "Stale Croissant" then? I'm thinking there's got to be Bladeborn that would give them some cheap, fast chaff for numbers: Grashak? Garrek? Ephillim? Skritch? Skabbik? Skittershank? Ok, yeah, after a few minutes on Warrior I'm thinking: Priestess, Obelisk Bearer, x3 Warpick (all with Fortitude), Vexmor (with Ferocity, obviate), Skabbik and Rikkit (bc of the range 2 spear). x8 fighters... boy howdy, would I like to find a way to squeeze in a 9th fighter. Can I buff Vexmor with Lead from the Back and drop Ferocity...? Or, with all the damage this warband can dish out already, he's really in here to tank damage - do I swap him for a 30-wound T4 Blightlord for 35 points less...?
That looks like a really solid list. I think 8-man would be great for this warband honestly. I have ran Ephilim many times with JO and she does work. Adds speed, utility, and range to a warband than is lacking in all 3. As always, Ephilim is difficult to use effectively due to their high skill floor, but they are a lot of fun regardless!
Glad to see the Idolarc being shown some love. It does more work than you think and can pretty much go anywhere it wants. I took it along with a Mindstealer last outing and they helped my Desecraters mince some bigger, beefier models with their abilities. RIP Centaurion marshall 😂

Thats more like it! Granted the comparison with VFS hurt a bit, and they have arguably better movement allies too...
They are shockingly similar… and in terms of raw efficiency actually trump TJO which is wild because TJO are crazy efficient XD there is a place for both though and I’ve gained a new found love for the stoney-boiz

@@wargamesontoast Yes, I know the community voted concept is different, but for me it is exactly like that - as written, and that is the closest interpretation :)
The problem was formulated by authors because of the writting damage allocation in rulebook using same name in different context.
(-1 to each hit and crit, but if any hit or crit was successful the total damage from attack action is minimum of 1)
So - yes, it works as I have written.
Yes, it works in community in different way.
@CGOLAN I’m not sure it’s even a community voted thing, it’s literally how it is written and how you would read it based on its punctuation. In any case, there’s next to no situation where your interpretation would come into play, so I guess it’s mostly moot!

I mean that is not voted thing, there is an agreement for an interpretation.
There is no difference for for example A4 S3 2/4 dmg vs T4;
Or when all attacks are misses for any configuration;
But imagine A4 S4 1/3 dmg vs T4 with roll 3,4,5,6
Community interpretation: mis, hit, hit, crit-1 equals to 0+1+1+2=4 wounds
My interpretation: mis, hit, hit, crit equals to 0+1+1+3 tokens to wound pool that will be allocated; now using thee rule you take of 3 tokens, so 2 wounds allocated.
Imagine A4 S4 1/3 dmg vs T4 with roll 2,3,4,5
Community interpretation: mis, mis, hit, hit, equals to 0+0+1+1=2 wounds
My interpretation: mis, mis, hit, hit equals to 0+0+1+1 tokens to wound pool that will be allocated; now using thee rule you take of 2 tokens, but minimum of 1 needs to stay so 1 wound allocated.

@@wargamesontoast You can also compare the writting with an older rulebook how the section slightly changed and where they have used a wording that makes my interpretation valid and all others invalid :)
Awesome looking warband as I love them. Mystery chaos warband, good looking, great lore as it must be for warcry. Sadly last warbands are not as great looking as this one. I lost hope to see such warbands again. Warcry got more and more Age of Sigmar with the warbands. Looks like additional sculpts for existing units.
I think the issue with these type of brawly low mobility warbands is that they can have complete non games sometimes - when your guys get to fight, they'll likely feel good, but when you lose two thirds of your warband to corner deployments, the game feels like it's over from the start, with little you can do about it, which isn't fun for either player
I think it’s a fundamental issue with Warcry and it’s deployments. Whilst I think the Gnarlwood 2 pack is largely great and helped balance out the overwhelming abundance of M3 efficiency spam, it also left warbands that simply don’t have mobility options in-faction in the dust. There are so many missions where you can left completely shafted because JO has no way to actually move. VFS on the other hand can effortlessly bridge that gap with their various movement tricks etc.
@wargamesontoast it's an interesting one - is it something you think needs fixing, or is it just the fair price to pay for having slow moving but otherwise efficient fighters?
If you think it needs a fix, what would you change?

Got them, played them sever times, and sold them. They have a punch, but are slow and so dependant on two models. I must admit, however, their models and lore are awesome! Now i have DoK, but still on the sprues.
Their slow speed really is a hinderance!
@@wargamesontoast I've played once against Soulblights and it was very painful.
Soulblight are quite the difficult faction to keep dead, haha

I bought 2 sets just to build out all the options. They're not perfect but a fun team to play.
They are loads of fun for sure!
