This channel is devoted to my epic journey with my wife's 2007 Mini Cooper S R56 Turbo. I am sure it will be a long and arduous (and probably VERY expensive) journey. Hopefully those of you out there who own one of these cars, or think you might want to own one, will learn from my adventures! As always, please be respectful and courteous when leaving comments. Any helpful suggestions are appreciated! I am not a professional videographer, but I hope they are good enough to pass on helpful information.
Thanks for viewing my channel and enjoy!

I purchased this software at pss-autosoft.net. I purchased my cable at eBay. Be sure to print out the installation instructions and follow them EXACTLY! If you have any problems, contact pss-autosoft.net. They are very good about responding back in a timely manner.

Thank you for the video. I just need to do hard-reset my 2016 x5 Climate Control System and wondering does this program can perform that?
Great video!
Great Job. The white cap is to facilitate the installation when the body is on the engine. By using the white cap the bolt will keep aligned. Once you get tight you can twist and remove the cap and finish the torque.
Why not just get on with the video
excellent vid

Is the same process for clubman n12 2009
I'm not entirely sure. The process may be similar, but the alignment tool I use in the video is different for the N12. One of the best things to do is get a Chilton's manual specific to your vehicle to fill in any gaps in information, such as torque values or procedures.
Great job god bless your soul
I needed this! My poor mini cooper
Great video. Is it safe to say I locked the crank locking pin before removing the head as i had to remove the head for a cracked valve. Will I be all good to place the head back on and set the timing marks on the cams and it should be timed correctly? I’m doing this for the first time and a bit worried about putting this back together 😂
As long as you lock the flywheel and use the alignment tool on the camshafts, you should be ok. For some reason, Peugeot thought it would be a good idea NOT to use keyways on the crank or cam sprockets.
@@miniadventure8714 okay thank you for the quick reply. First time doing this YouTubing everything 😂. The crank pin is still locked in and all pistons are level just wasn’t a 100% sure if I could just put the head back on and turn the cams until the writing etc is facing up. Or not 😂 overthinking I’m doing something wrong. Great videos keep it up.
I think my timing was slightly off I bought 2008 cooper s 50k miles £450 misfire turns out was burnt valve set all the locking tools up removed everything and the head. Just keep thinking in my head my head am I okay to just put the head back on and line up the writing and the locking tool and that it won’t damage anything after wards 😂 all new to me but enjoy the challenge just want to make sure I’m doing it correctly
@@bainkris80s95 sounds like you are on the right track. Just make sure you have new head bolts as they are torque-to-yield
@@miniadventure8714 got a company sorting the head out they are supplying new gasket and bolts etc. hope it turns out good got a few friends doubting me😳😂
Thank you for taking the time to document this process 😊
What torque did you use to timing chain upper guide rail bolts?
It's been a while so I don't actually remember if I didn't mention it in the video. I got the specs out of my Chilton's manual, which I no longer have.
omg! exactly what I was looking for was not covered! lol . I wanted to see the sequence to torque the CAM caps. I know its 10 nm, and I guess the sequence is center and outwards
I used a Chilton's Manual for all of the torque specs and sequences.
@@miniadventure8714 thank you. I had forgotten about chillton for a second. Thank you for the videos! Big help 👍
I was hooked until he said part 2! lol 😂
You are great... Thumbs up
When installing new valves, it is necessary to have them calibrated so that the car can be calibrated.
I just replaced all of the valves when I had the head cleaned up and machined. But yes the timing jig aligns the camshafts since this is an "interference engine", which means if it goes out of time, like mine, the valves will kiss the pistons.
great idea to use the socket to get the plastic clips out. never seen that before
Edit: nevermind, I see my mistake. Makes a lot more sense now.
Can not see what you're doing
Always do the first turns of a bold or nut by hand... there's simply no feeling with electric or air tools...😉🤙
You should make more videos!!!! Great tutorials…!!!!!!!!!! Comeback!👌🏾💎♦️😎
I wish I could, but we lost the car to flooding during Hurricane Harvey
Hate to hear that! But I’m sure you’re servicing something. Whatever you all drive now, make videos on that until you find another Mini!🎉
You should make more videos!!!! Great tutorials…!!!!!!!!!! Comeback!👌🏾💎♦️😎
Unfortunately, I lost this car in hurricane Harvey, so alas , no more videos😢
Very good. Whilst watching this video it suddenly dawned on me that my problem may well be that I had not re-connected the big connector to the throttle control. Sure enough upon taking the inlet manifold off again today, I could see that I had omitted to connect that cable! 🥴
Thanks Mini Adventure - lots of useful information in this series of videos!
thank you great video
all this electronic crap and they still have the same fuel consumption as cars over 20 years old , my 1967 mini cooper has twin SU carbs , more economical than the new mini and the cabs are near 50 years old no problems
This engine in my peugeot 207 cc 2009. Why it the size of engine?
I think it is a 2.0 liter
I can get the 2nd nut across on the bottom of the exhaust manifold the 11mm socket will not go over then nut ? Due to the shape of the steel around the bolt.
My sentiments exactly, good thing they're fun to drive. I am about to trade mine in though, I've gotten tired of working on mine.
It's no easy but do able
Do you have a link to the part I need a throttle body. Not happy buying China parts thanks
I did this video so long ago, the link is probably dead. I got mine off of eBay. Just make sure it says genuine BMW/ Mini part.
@@miniadventure8714 Thank you
What about the upper chain guide? Wouldn't you want that on before adjusting the intake cam?
Not trying to critique, thank you for all this information!
I've been watching a lot of Mini videos. Yours are the best!!! I'm sad there are no newer ones. Do you plan on making more?
We lost my wife's Mini in Hurricane Harvey, so I haven't made any more.
Excellent. Is it a bit easier to replace the TPS?
Missed an important step :-) if your reusing the cam dephaser sprocket then set it back into its neutral position (0 deg) rotate engine 2 turns (before removing cam chain without locks installed) then use a hex spanner to gently torque back the inlet camshaft in the opposite direction in order to locate the locking pin within the dephaser wheel.. I always do this when replacing the dephaser sprockets too as a matter of course you can't be too careful with these grenades :-) someone should remind BMW that keyways are still a thing and much easier....
Excelente
Do you think that I could get a discount on this if I have my female friend blow the mechanic?

I've worked on a few Volkswagen so I really do not care about working on Mini Coopers or BMWs but I have to say you are a really good mechanic I really love your video keep up the good work man
Question, I saw your previous video and you displayed how the valves were stuck open on the exhaust side. What was causing that?
The timing chain jumped time due to the broken plastic guides.
( mini cooper s r56 2007 )i want to change my throttle valve but it different coad !! can u explain and how can i change?
Not exactly sure what you are asking....are you saying that your code reader is reading a different code than the one in the video?
@@miniadventure8714 yes sir
Is it a throttle body related code?
GREAT JOB on that top dead center! saved my ass. lol
I've seen conflicting videos about the crank shaft bolt / sprocket being left loose when installing the chain and tensioner etc fully and only when everything is in place then it is torqued up. But I've noted you torqued crank bolt up before fitting the tensioner. I thought the sprocket was left loose so that all the play in the chain is taken out? Just wondering what to do now lol which way is best? Great set of tutorials though really helpful Thanks 👍
I'm sure you can do it either way, as the crank is held in the correct position with the positioning pin.
Hi, is there a torque setting for the crank bolt after timing? I'm doing this job in 2 days. I'm halfway through ready to build back up with new chain kit etc. I noticed the crank sprocket is also floating with no keyway, so obviously crank bolt will need torqued I'd assume? I also assume crank bolt is reusable as only the cam "stretch" bolts came with the kit. Any advice appreciated. Thanks.
I can't remember the values. I think it is like 90 ft/lb plus 180°. You have to use a torque angle gauge.
@@miniadventure8714 Thanks so much for your reply. I've done the job yesterday. I did the torque to 50nm then marked the bolt at 12 o'clock and then protracted to 100° and made another mark at 100° next to bolt head and just swung off it with my breaker bar until the mark came round and met up (old skool!) 😄👍
You don,t need the special serpentine belt tool all you need a large vice grip.
Also- whered you get the dkn connector to ODB??
Do you think this software can disable “transport mode” for a 2006 BMW Z4 roadster? My ac/hvac system is not working after I replaced my battery and my obd reading is saying FF energy saving mode active.
I just deleted transport mode of a 2003 Z4 using DIS V44, so i bet v57 should do it too.
Great, great great video. I super appreciate your patience and explaining step by step on how to do this job. I’m waiting to see how much my mechanic will charge me for this. I’m sure it’s more money than I’d like to spend when I can do it myself. Thank you guys so much and thank your beautiful camera lady aka your wife. Myself and my wife will hammer out this job this Saturday Super thanks again Be well Shalom
