Welcome to my channel! I sold my new house and fully functioning homestead and moved to a 124 year-old farmhouse with raw land. Join me as I completely rebuild my homestead from scratch and become one step closer to self-sufficiency. When I'm not on the homestead I'm up at the off-grid cabin splitting firewood, tapping trees for syrup, hunting, and much more!
Come along on my journey to self-sufficiency and a more intentional way of living.

I like the timber framing on the sugar shack you and dad built, its funny why porcupines like the taste of siding and also fence posts, maybe the salty flavor.
True country girl! ❤❤❤
Very nice work on processing that deer , the knife I've used for years is Kershaw blade trader, and after skinning i wipe hair and stuff off with a half water and vinegar mixture.
Russell Dexter makes some good knife
Sounds like city folk questions
Glad to see you passing on some of your knowledge to your kids , and society. Good Job
@@marvinalbers3353 thanks 😊
Is that music played on a citar or a 12 string??
Canned deer meat over white rice with broccoli. Was a once a week meal when growing up.. Great video as always!
@@rodneywager2142 sounds tasty!
You sould try Lipton soup mix in your can meet it really tasty
Nothing wrong with eating road kill thanks for sharing it with us
Pressure canned venison is delish. Makes great stronganoff. Smaller pieces are less stringy - info for future canning. Good work lady!
Such a wonderful women in these days....💪🏼respect From Czech republic
Dance pole is on the way.
This is definitely living different
Great job😊. I gather roadkill too if it is fit for use. Your commentary on the dignity of using the animal to feed you and your family vs letting it rot on the roadside is spot on. I prefer canning venison over other methods of preservation. I also can chicken (drums and thighs) when I find good deal on it.
Interesting, I’ve never canned chicken!
@living.different It looks like hell but is very good. Same pressure and time for all meat. I think the bones add to the broth
You’re so lucky to have such a wonderful Dad and Mom! Growing up we never got to do anything, no camping, no fishing, no hunting. Dad wasn’t into anything but doing for himself. Later he was a alcoholic, miserable be thankful for your family❤
It’s so nice to have family to help ! I want to put new flooring vinyl and can’t get anyone to help , and the cost is way above my budget . I have plywood floors and thought about painting them . I had carpet but will never have carpet again. Maybe one day🙄
You never fail to amaze me. You are exciting a great example for young ladies and young men!
Hey, if people are whining because they aren't as quick and savvy as you! You mosdef deserved that opportunity. Plus saves you $$. If you want a metal spreader, dm me your address and i'll send you kne. Cheers from Michigan.
Is it for spreading to skin? That’s neat
Pretty awesome girl !! Here in New Brunswick Canada we aren’t allowed to keep roadkill which is stupid !!! What a waste ! You should have lite a small fire next to ur skinning it
WILL YOU MARRY ME?
You're awesome !
Very cool. I do like canned meat in a quick meal and meat with cream cheese dip. You are helping to get great road kill saves. 🕊
@@robinmoore5181 cream cheese dip sounds good !
Road Kill Hunter in Slippers. Awesome. No tag required?
you are truly a good mother, GOD, bless you dear kisses to you and your children byeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Ya here in Montana if you hit a deer or elk you can take it or if someone want it they can take it or they have send some out to get and it take awhile now like brother and mom have over the years hit 4 deer and they would not bring them home and I don't know why or they can call me and I will come get it but they have not done that yet
Good find! Look at that snow beautiful, I made chili with deer meat canned very good! You’re awesome!
@@deborahstewart2322 chili sounds good!
You are one awesome amazing woman. Great job
lady good video
Youre like a Super Woman!! I cant believe you did all that while not feeling well. Thats a hard job under normal conditions!
@@GaryMinckler don’t want to have her go to waste ☺️
Awesome video! So happy to see the kiddos involved. Beautiful family dynamic😊
@@SnorttheNorth thanks! 😊
You are one tough lady! I really gotta admire that :)
Great job I'm really impressed very proud of you.
Get a Havalon and replacement blades and a 6" Victorinox boning knife. That's all you need regardless of the species you work with. I'm sure you know but wide mouth jars are so much easier to clean! But all in all a job well done.
@@jasondarling4602 all my wide mouth jars are full already 😋
I feel compelled to say "thank you" first, for inviting us into your home. Have you heard of a Peltier chip? We found some fans that run on these. We set them on the wood stove to blow heat off the stovepipe. Might be useful for an off-grid setup.
Great job processing the deer. Is that the Gerber Gator folding knife? I still use one of those plus the Gerber Magnum LST for my large game processing. 👍🏾
@@NTycingProductions yes it is!
@@living.different Righ on, it does a pretty good job for what it's worth. 👍🏾 Great video content you put out. Keep up the good work. 😁👍🏾
MMMMMmmmm…Spaghetti, venison meat balls and fresh bread…Lookin’ oh so good…Thanks for sharing…IAG, eh!!! 🇨🇦
@@DaleRude-ur9ns it was delicious!
The whole process was impressive. Your neighbor from Michigan.
Good job, not letting that deer go to waste.
I have had many different kinds of knives and Outdoor Edge knives with replacement blades are a game changer. For boning, I use a good flexible filet knife like a Rapala. Also I use quart size ziplock bags for ground meat. One pound in each bag, squeezed flat with no air instead of tube bags. They store in freezer flat and thaw much faster than the tubes. One more thing. Use your kitchen aid to make pasta dough. You are an awesome woman! I hope whomever you share your life with fully appreciates you.
@@rmd9032 I like using the pasta attachment for the table. I’ve tried the mixer before 😋
@@living.different Use the mixer to knead the dough only and the table top cutter to make noodles.
@@living.different Basic Egg Pasta Yield: 1 1⁄4 pounds dough 4 large eggs 1⁄2 cup water 31⁄2 cups sifted all-purpose flour 1 Tbs oil 1 teaspoon salt Process: Place eggs, water, flour, oil and salt in mixer bowl. Attach bowl and flat beater. Turn to Speed 2 and mix 30 seconds. Exchange flat beater for dough hook. Turn to Speed 2 and knead 2 minutes. Remove dough from bowl and hand knead for 1 to 2 minutes. Let it rest for 20 minutes. Divide dough into 4 pieces before processing with Pasta Sheet Roller
👍👍
Have a look t outdoor edge with disposable blades
Nice set up you have there !
Rock 🎸 star ⭐️ MoM . FUN 🎉.
You continually amaze me!
Will you marry me? That is awesome a girl that would pick up roadkill. I find it so sad to see them lay alongside the road and rot.
Victorinox best knives you can buy and they arnt that expensive 6in semi stiff blade rosewood handle. Been a meat cutter for 18 years only knives ill buy.
@@hunter62012 good to know!
Touch works to burn them hairs when your done skinning it or right before you cut it. Works great and then wipe down with wet towel works pretty good
We have the exact same grinder we bought it off northern tool about 25 years ago and it still works awesome. We have ground many deer with it. 😂
@@terryelston685 it’s so old but works so well haha
