For me, this would actually be *the intuitive* way to use these two :) It is more or less how I use my Octatrack. I connect everything to it, and sample... One cool thing that you can do on the OT, is re-sampling it's own tracks . Once I have a drum pattern I like - the OT can sample itself sample itself ( and condense it down to one track) - can the Digi do that?
You can re-sample on the DT for sure! Unfortunately you can do any of this “live” the way you can on the OT, and you can only monitor the input from the recording interface *or* use the mixer to output audio - not both simultaneously :(
@@SlowHaste Honestly, I have one, and I found pattern-resampling workflow really tedious. If it could play few patterns simultaneously, it would be pretty much a perfect sampler. Once my work situation stabilizes, I am definitely getting Digitone, Octatrack, and a Zoom for field recording. Stay tuned. :)
Hey! I didn’t use any MIDI for this video (even though the cable is plugged in) - just audio from the Digitone to the Digitakt. This might be helpful though: ua-cam.com/video/b5U6_3lmZOE/v-deo.html
Nice video :) Agree with this workflow. I try to record everything into the Octatrack, even if I do nothing to the loop and just record it to the DAW. Most the time I mess with the sample a bit and it's so much better.
You really do have some of the more interesting and listenable content on the Elektron boxes. The Syntakt lust in me has been great as of late, imagine my surprise to discover that you don't seem to have one. You really must correct that ;)
Thanks, that means a lot! I considered getting one for a while, and ultimately decided I didn't feel the need to incorporate it into my setup for the time being. I really have more than enough sequencing power on my hands as is, and I think my next piece of gear will be a flagship synth. That said, I really would love to get one at some point as a teaching tool (and because it just seems fun)
@@SlowHaste you may find that you get more requests you for it as your channel grows. I'm curious as to what kind of flagship synth captures your imagination. It's the modern digital and hybrid synths with unusual or deftly-paired engines that I find the most interesting. I bought a 49-key Hydrasynth last year and can't stay off the thing.
I just thought of doing this last night, then an hour later I see this video! Great demonstration, really cool workflow. Digitakt OS 1.5 has really put the DT head and shoulders above similar instruments
This is rad! And not helping me not get a Digitakt haha
😈 would pair rather quick nicely with a certain Synthakt I’ve seen recently

Like! 👍
I’m selling my OP-1 and getting a Digitone. I said it.
Omg tell me more!! Are you not ~*vibing*~ with it as much as initially?
Why not sample exactly two (or one or four) bars of the Digitone?
Because I need to clear my sample memory on the DT 😬
Cool stuff! I like the results you are getting, so I'm really enjoying seeing behind the curtain!
:) thanks for watching!
I love my SP404 MK2 but I probably should have bought the Digitakt first.
At some point I gotta scoop up a used 404 and play around with that workflow, I’ve never messed with one!

this is pretty mich what i wanted to do with the two. i litrerrly just got them and its fun to see this.
Yesss it’s a blast! Hope you have a good time with them :)
I was offered a Digitone in exchange for my MC101.... Might have to take that offer up this is a unique workflow.
The Digitone is an absolute blast and a super unique synth - I’d always recommend it!
Hey bro what is the digitone set at in midi send or receive and digitakt send or receive thanks bro I have both item

Totally agreed!! I try to always record my fiddling about, as much as possible
If Digitakt is the peanut butter and Digitone the jelly, would then Syntakt be the bread?
I’d have to taste I mean play it to make that determination
So rad. Those machines really do make it a deeper sampler. Loved the choice of arp.
Thanks Josh!
You could’ve just set the rec time before recording the loop also
True! I keep forgetting this is part of the new 1.5 feature
Thanks!
love your videos you’ve really helped me get to grips with the Digitakt ❤
That’s great to hear, glad they’ve been useful to ya!

It seriously has! The continued support is pretty insane considering how significant these recent updates have been.
