Thanks for this 👍
since a dead fuze doesn't beep, could a dying one just have trouble beeping? I'm not sure if it's my multimeter but checking for continuity it doesn't beep all the time on the fuze. my sfc does turn on but Mario kart specifically loves to crash anywhere from 5 seconds to 40 minutes of gameplay. i also need a piece of paper wedged in the slot to keep the carts from wiggling and so that they turn on
Broke one pack, but it reattached 90% of the way + fixed. Another had the same issue, so two “broken” controllers are now fixed. Disclaimer to anyone who wants to attempt this: be patient and don’t freak out when a piece of plastic breaks. Electrical tape will help you!
Glad it worked out for you and good additional tips!
I have my xbox 360 controller's battery terminal broken and its corroded as hell and it came apart then i opened the battery and the battery terminal are those spring type structure you can see any help ? The corrosion has not gone in the motherboard there is just 2 or 3 cm gap between em any help ?😢
See previous response!

If the inner terminals of the cover are badly corroded where they fall apart, I would suggest getting a replacement at that point. This video will really only help with ones that are still intact but need cleaning/ corrosion removed. If the corrosion has damaged the controller end springs then that's also a difficult thing to patch. You can most likely find replacements for those as well but it may be easier to get another used controller or buy a play and charge kit. The cable attaches to the top of the controller rather than the back and you don't even need to have a battery pack in place for it to work either. The downside is you now have a "wired" controller instead of the wireless version but it is cheaper than getting a new controller if it is still working well. Hope you can get it working!
man u did this without removing the disc drive from the console u got more experience than i do id have to remove the drive entirely so i can do this thanks for making this awesome video i didnt know there where 4 different disc drives on the console now i know
Yeah I’ve done so many of these I’ve become pretty comfortable working with them, glad you found it helpful though! Also some of them you just can’t get at from the front too so it requires opening the console up.
What a wonderful series! I really enjoyed it! Fun, interesting and educational! Please keep it coming!
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it!
Congrats! Thanks for lettings us follow along! It was very inspiring to me!
I really appreciate it, I'm glad it was helpful!
I really dislike how xyab is selective on who they sell to and ask for proof of business that must meet their satisfaction of sales quantity.
I haven't heard of any issues with them, even with smaller sellers that I've talked with too. They accepted me right away but I also sell a lot of stuff too. I'm not sure what their threshold is for selling though. I know it's a pretty common thing in the wholesale arena but I can understand the frustration with it for sure.
respect for the side hustle
I appreciate it!
can do some shell swap, transparent orange game grear, probably install hdmi/rgb kits are probably were the moeny at. maybe console mods. could try some retro bright. maybe snes, nes button swaps, maybe even molding buttons? or 3d print some stuff.
Could be, mods are a big deal but you need working units for a lot of the stuff so it adds more cost in the long run too. But worth it if they can sell for more too.
@@gamejaeger ya i like the videos only thing i dont like is the music looping hours at a time when binge watching fine for once a moth. you have a good setup documentation is good. i think if you do a season 2 just more documentation of problems with other things would be good. also like there a more in depth video of the fix. im guessing video editing took more then an hour a day? w/e the case i like the content keep it up. switch/lite shell swap is a pita and requires heating the screen to swap i would pay to have it done but also you might not like working on small handhelds? shells are fairly cheap to buy thow. just ideas. also thow dreaded drifting joycons and switch lite...adding things like argb/rgb can also boost cost and might not be too much work. i remember back in the day of the nes led logo mod and now we got argb kits things have changed.
Thanks, yeah editing takes a lot of time. Never really measured it but it’s hours and hours per video for sure. And I’ve never worked on switch stuff before. Never really wanted to honestly. I like the older stuff and want to try to get more of that back into circulation and working again. The new stuff would probably be more money in some ways but I’m not sure I’d enjoy it as much.
Great work! I love this series. For the PS3s you can to diagnostic the problem with a ttl module. I recommend the channel RIP Felix (you can see the miniature down in the right at 19:06 ) he did great videos about that and YLOD.
I just discovered your channel and I LOVE video game repair videos so mutch that I want to do it myself, but I don't know were to start. I would really like if you did a video where you explain how did you learn to fix video games and what tools do you need to start. (awesome video, really like it)
Glad you liked it and welcome! That’s not a bad idea about the video though, a few others have asked about similar stuff and I think it would be easier to address in a larger format. Thanks for the idea!
Great series. I enjoyed the entire thing. It got me brave enough to try and in a couple cases fail at repairing systems myself
That’s ok, practice makes perfect!
I've just got and 360 Slim that isn't recognising discs. Do you have any tips for this? By the way I cleared my UA-cam history to try to reset some of the junk UA-cam were suggesting on my home feed and I think I've missed a video. Did that capacitor on the PS1 Slim help?
Honestly haven’t tried it yet so you probably didn’t miss anything. I ordered the kits late so they didn’t arrive until about a week ago. I’d still like to try it though, maybe a future video? Unfortunately I don’t have much info on Xbox 360 though. I have limited knowledge about that system so it might have the same issues as the original Xbox but I’m not 100% about it unfortunately.
look into low melt solder for the cpu replacement on the snes
I’ve seen those, I think it’s called chipquik if I remember correctly?
@@gamejaeger right, it works pretty good at removing chips without needing to heat the whole board.
Good to know!
Congrats. Do you jave a rough breakdown of the most profitable items - obviously it'll be a moxture of bad caps, cables, cleaning to just unrepairable - hopefully you jave enough datapoints to average this out though and get a general overview. Hopefully you'll get a hot air station and take things up a notch. I was surprised you tested the psu with the case removed rather than just probing the output though? The screen ribbon replacement you did in this episode was very good, even if it didn't quite work in the end.
Thank you! I know nothing about ps3 units so it was kind of an exploration of how it’s all put together as well as testing. But as far as the most profitable items… it really depends on how much you’re picking the items up for. I would say fixing games is probably the lowest tier profitably and the highest is consoles for sure as a general category separation. But rather than looking at it from a strictly best item to do for highest revenue, I would suggest buying and fixing the items that bring you the greatest enjoyment to fix. Because if you run into problems with an item you like to fix then, talking from personal experience, you’re more apt to look for solutions rather than move on to the next one. Which also equals more money in the long run since you can probably fix more of the ones you like to do then ones you’re just not as interested in.
Congrats on completing this series! Been following since month 3 I think. This series has helped me gather some more knowledge on especially the OG xbox consoles. Hope to keep seeing more repairs on this channel in the future :)
Awesome, glad I could help! There will be more to come for sure!
great series! thank you for the content and your dedication! hopeful to see more!
More to come thanks!
Great series! Now we are waiting for Season 2 :)
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it!
I can do that snes cpu for you if you feel like sending it to a stranger in NJ. Great videos, keep it up!
Lol thank you
I know you said you paid bills with the profit but you should also really look into getting yourself a hot air station. It's a life changer for some connectors and especially removing surface mount caps.
Thanks, I know I really need one. I was looking into it but I haven’t pulled the trigger on buying one yet.
Really enjoyed watching the whole process! I have picked up broken electronics from time to time to fix and sell and have always wondered what it could come out to try and do as a side gig. How did this go from a youtube perspective? How long did it take to shoot/edit videos, and how did this challenge grow your channel and add revenue?
Thanks! Having the videos coming out each month gave me a lot of motivation to continue the work and there were sometimes I just really didn’t want to lol. I would say the shooting of the videos did cause the repair times to become slightly longer than if I would have just fixed an item right away too. So that can probably be factored into the totals a bit. But UA-cam has been great! About 50 new subs per video so it’s a nice boost each month! And the repair suggestions have been great too, lots of good help here!
And I reeeeeaaaaally hope there's a season 2 of $0 to $10,000
...we will see. I need a bit of a break for the time being lol.
Very well done though for sure
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed!
It was fun to see you though this journey. I hope you continue in 2025.
Thank you! Glad to have the support!
Thank you man! I only came into this series at month 10 i think? but have loved every episode and has been very inspirational to me and will be looking into starting to teach myself alot of this stuff in 2025! Cant wait to see what you have in store for the new year!
No, thank you for watching and commenting! It means a lot to have random people being inspired by something I posted. Thanks for coming along in the journey!
Oh man I got so excited when I saw you posted

Thank you, Merry Christmas to you as well! And thanks for coming along on the journey, I couldn't have done it without all of the support!
thanks This Helped Me Alot :)
Glad I could help!
So i did the repair using the part you suggested and now my controller is constantly moving right. any specific solder spot i should check? i completely removed the replacement and re soldered after it was stuck right and still doing again. Thanks!
Was it drifting to the right before doing the fix? If so, I would check the traces going to the POT that moves right and left just to make sure there is nothing there that was damaged first. Small cracks can be hard to see sometimes. If it wasn't drifting to the right before, then it could be a defective new part or it could have some debris on the inside of the POT that is causing it to not center properly. I'd also check the inside of the POT for any defects or debris too and clean and retest again, otherwise you could always put on your old sticks POT and see if that helps too. Hopefully you can get it working again though!
*Can I buy one from you?*
Sorry, but no. I'm flattered people like it that much but it wouldn't survive shipping unfortunately.
If you opened up a gamecube and see that it is disgusting on the inside, start by cleaning it off lol
lol for sure, I had done that in one of my other repair challenge videos. But funny enough the cleanliness level of the inner parts doesn't seem to effect the lid parts too much.
What do i do without a soldering gun😢
You can clean it? But removing items will be difficult without a soldering iron unfortunately.
@ my battery bracket is a little oxidized thats all
You can clean it in place, it may just take a little while longer to do that. But if you're using something that doesn't damage the circuit board like high percentage IPA, then you should be good.
@ sounds good thanks
No problem, hopefully it works for you!
Commenting for the algorithm again as it still didn't show up on my feed. With all those extra units you should break through the target even if it's not within your rules and within the exact timeframe.
Thanks, every little bit helps! I was hoping that would be the case too...
GENTLY remove that ribbon cable
You kind of wiggle it out and it pops loose pretty easy that way.
Hey, I have got an xbox 360 slim model, and the battery packs are quite difficult to pry apart. What's a quick solution to this problem? I also forgot to mention that the middle part on the battery pack almost broke. Update: Hey man, thanks for providing me with everything I need to fix my controller it was nice to see the bright green flash after some time and aggressive mortal combat playing, and thanks again for the video 👍
Glad it helped!
comment lol
I'm dying over this lol.
already got a few videos down brother.
I see that. lol
I like the study you performed
Thank you, hopefully they help people to preserve their screens for a while longer.
I didnt even think the battery covers could come apart.
They are not meant to, that's why its a slow process. But makes it way easier to clean properly when its apart.
Dig the rapture poster bioshock is one of my favorite games
Same, it's one of my favorites too. It's in my top 10.
Never thought about that trick the end it would make me to nervous lol but awesome idea
It works, you just need to be very careful.
I did mine and still no power? Any ideas?
Could be the power supply, if you have a second power supply I’d try that first. Also check to make sure the fuse didn’t blow again after install. If it did then there has to be another issue with how the power is being fed into the system.

Lol.
Just found your channel and im going to try to watch every video and comment on each!
Thanks for the help! I hope you enjoy!
@gamejaeger gotta help other youtubers for sure.
Lol, Thanks I appreciate it!
Was hoping these were Hall effect. Still worth it though.
No they aren’t. That brings up another question but I’m pretty sure you can’t use Hall effect sticks in original Xbox controllers without some additional modifications though. Don’t quote me but I didn’t think they were compatible with the older controllers.
@gamejaeger the hall effect units would in fact require additional logic to process, but that could be small enough to be inserted with on board ASIC piggybacking in the unit, I assume. It's a lot to hope for, maybe too much.
Yeah it would require some doing I’m sure. Maybe a daughter board to hold the extras?
if that's the worst you've seen, than you haven't been repairing too many cartridges.
Lol. I haven’t seen many really bad carts similar to this one, so it’s a pretty true statement so far. Mostly I just see dirty pins and trace or battery repairs. But I’m not sure where people find the utterly destroyed carts I’ve seen in a few other videos. I’d love to find out though, so if you have any leads let me know! Lol
@@gamejaeger I thought I had replied. Maybe I'm getting tired. I've been finding them on e-bay included with a bunch of other things. Ironically the hardest repairs were the ones that actually had the best appearances.
I can imagine, you never know what’s inside of those things sometimes lol.
I wonder if injecting green resin might work... possibly without dismantling. hmm.
Maybe? You’ll probably still have to take them out of the main base and lay them flat then inject in some green resin. I could see that working though, good idea!
Mine ever since arriving is just poor poor contact that toughest sweet spot on one battery.. no corrosion it's damning me >.<
Maybe bend one of the battery terminals so it can contact better? Or find some replacements online?
Could I clean the acid with out pulling it apart because I don’t want to break it
You might be able to if you can get down to the contacts with something long enough and strong enough to scrub them clean. Maybe make a tool with an ice pick or a chopstick? Not sure what would work honestly but you could if the corrosion isn’t that bad.
