    What's the best advice you can give on how to wiggle out the clock cap carefully?

    • @gamejaeger
      @gamejaeger  8 місяців тому +1

      Basically do exactly that, be very careful. Don't crank on it or move it all over to get it to rip loose quickly, just take your time and move it in small increments and you'll feel it giving way over time. Or you can do it the long way and remove the motherboard completely and desolder it from the board but, ain't nobody got time for that... Unless it looks really bad like your going to remove traces and other parts with it kinda bad or you need to replace it because you have a 1.6 motherboard.

    Some of the controllers with no connect do not have issues with the cable but the 100uf capacitor near where the cable is soldered has gone bad. I advise you replace that cap

    have been really enjoying watching your videos, have you found a good source for replacement ps2 controller cords?

    • @gamejaeger
      @gamejaeger  8 місяців тому +1

      Thanks! It's funny you ask because I've been looking on and off and haven't found a solid source yet. I've seen a few on eBay but once I get into fixing some of the PS2 controllers I have, I'll do a more serious investigation to see where they can be sourced from.

      @@gamejaeger i will keep watching, so far i have only found ones from aliexpress and those are not great as unlike the old cable you need to know which wire is which pin etc and its annoying

    • @gamejaeger
      @gamejaeger  8 місяців тому +1

      Gotcha, I be sure to look out for those when I need one then. Thanks! Also I'll keep you posted in the future videos if I happen to find a good supplier then.

    I've got a Game Gear with similar battery leakage. Thankfully there's 2 people that make replacement motherboards (SYF and McWill). They're pretty expensive though, so I'm gonna wait a while longer.

      It looks soooo bad inside... The crystals have literally covered everything inside so that will be a much longer project to work on lol. If it can even be saved that is...

      I did exclusively Gameboy Color repairs for a long time myself but one day just wanted to branch out I guess. I think we all need variety sometimes, especially people who tinker lol.

    Brother you need DeoxIT and white vinegar on your arsenal and maybe a sonic cleaner.

    • @gamejaeger
      @gamejaeger  8 місяців тому

      Not a bad idea, I had a sonic cleaner a while back but I didn't end up using it much and when I did, I didn't have very good results with it. I ended up selling it but I 100% did not look into it further so it was probably me not understanding how to use it at the time.

      @@gamejaeger hehe :D it‘s very relaxing watching your journey. Aspecialy with Xbox classics! If I can ever help you out with some information on some strange behavior from the consoles, i’ll comment :D
      Just repaired a Error 12 console, Samsung DVD drives have sometimes issues with there 33Ohm Resistor arrays behind the ide connector. These are 0603*4 arrays. So if you come across a not working drive or worse Error 12 console with Samsung drive, check these (:
      Doner motherboards will have 4 33Ohm Arrays to get for the dvd PCB as well 🤓

      Thank you, that means a lot! Any extra info would be great too! I'm always trying to learn the quirks of units and look up new stuff to share so any extra info is super helpful for not only me but anyone else who watches. I have so many of these units to fix too so I'm sure I still have lots to learn haha!
