Used to fish the Blythe in the 80's and early 90's. There were some huge Carp here and there, even in some of the tiny sections. Someone made a british record Chub claim too. We even saw Golden Orfe on one section!

I will be fishing around Bridgenorth in September can you advise as to this stretch? I am a BAA member it would hopefully suit me being a pensioner .

My Dad took me fishing on the Blythe nearly 50 yrs ago, this took me back. This vid made me remember him so thanks.

I know I am posting this 2 years on but this might be of interest to some anglers. I use to be in a syndicate on this stretch back in the 90's. At the time the farmer use to allow us to drive down the bank when weather allowed. The stretch above the bridge was let to a fly only syndicate separately. I went back there when the BAA took over and was shocked to see that the EA had destroyed a lot of the best pegs. The peg shown at 7.03 was an out and out flyer I use to call it a Crabtree goes fishing peg, back then the far bank was not as tall as it is now and that bowl area was about 4 to 5 ft deep with weed beds and tree cover, now its no more than 2ft deep at best. Back then you mainly caught Bream up to 4 lb the odd Chub to 3lb Perch to 3lb Roach around the 1lb mark and you got smashed on occasions by mystery fish speculated at the time as either Barbel or Carp. The last time I fished it was right at the end of the season in March around '97 I had some bloodworm left over from a Winter league match on the canal and went down there with the pole.Balled in some Joker and put Blood on the hook. Started catching decent Roach and then when I increased the bloodworm on the hook I started catching bigger and bigger Bream. Towards the end of the session when I must have had around 30lb in the net the farmers son came down to say his father had died and he had terminated the syndicates contract on the water since the begining of March I apologised and was going to leave but he allowed me to finish the session. It was a nice way to finish off with but I mourned not being able to return until the BAA took over and when I did I was not pleased. Just as Dan here shows the water is now full of small Trout and Minnows. The peg shown at 5.47 was never very good even though it looks fishy but the run off below it held some decent Trout I caught one to about 1lb 7 oz and lost one at the net that might have gone 3lb. Further down there was a nice peg you could long trot and that contained some decent Roach that responded well to bread. I walked down there when I returned to find some of it almost impassable. At the end of the section I think the Little Alne joins the main river but that is not BAA.

Can I ask what your agenda is Dan? ... Pike these days are over-pressured and posting videos like this does not help the cause. Are you craving fame with your videos? Every pike I catch is kept to myself because I don't require 5 minutes of stardom but more important, the pike doesn't need these videos. Naming venues is a BIG no-no these days, enjoy your fishing but stop the videos

hi Dan. great videos. me and the other half love watching them. we have a caravan in Tenbury wells and currently fish the Teme by the peacock inn. We are looking to try other spots nearby and spotted this video. is this stretch of baa fairly accessible? I think we may have walked up a while ago and it looked very overgrown. Any advice much appreciated. matt

There's nothing quite like the Hebrides! good to see that you chuck fluff too! I like the way you kept the fish in the water to unhook and release, and made a point of wetting your hands. those little trout pack a punch up there! 👍

what a belting little river! your perseverance and tactical adjustments certainly paid off here! good angling! If I had any sense I'd ledger more for chub on my utube stuff, I float fish 95% of the time and unfortunately its almost impossible to see the float on my video after! 🤣 reminds me of my local river, although I suspect holding bigger fish. The Perch seem to have disappeared from my favourite pool, a short walk from home. Well done, I've just subbed. 👍

Some great tips prior to a day or two in the fens for me. Not fished there for 37+ years and cannot wait. Never had a double but so looking forward to it. Stretch i fish has small barbel,roach,perch,skimmers,trout and the odd carp full of fish

Hi mate, really enjoyed this video. I'm a lure angler but just got a float rod and a feeder rod so looking to doe exactly this sort of fishing.
