Come to think of it that is actually pretty wierd, I bought it thinking of it as a drum machine too, came to realise it’s a brilliant synth!

I cover it in the full part one of the course. I am going to release some courses soon on machines that show people how to go from a dawless idea into the DAW and out as a record, the full process. I agree tutors and UA-camrs seem to fixate on either hardware or in the box or a specific thing. I lean heavy on teaching machines but also very much into producing in the box and creating records

Do you mean when selecting a new preset? Unfortunately the hydra is pretty bad at switching sounds, there’s a pause in the sound cutting off and some latency until next sound starts. It’s not like other synths, like the Typhon that one is great as you can seamlessly select a new preset without cutting the sound

@@jamesorvis_mixhackers yes.....the Korg opsix and wavestate does maintain the previous sound whilst the keys are still pressed and remain pressed..... then the new selected preset can be played on the right hand while the previous preset still rings on the left hand..... but I asked this becos I saw a hydrasynth deluxe video just few days ago demonstrating the smooth transition....I didn't save that video n now can't find it....

@@jamesorvis_mixhackers thanks sir... but I found a way after receiving the Summit... I just went on multi mode and one of the layers will continue to ring it's preset while the other layer can flip to other presets without cutting out the first preset.....and then whilst playing we can switch it over now the right hand layer can hold the ringing while the left hand layer changes presets..... another way is to split the keyboard.. thks for yr great videos!! Also jus recieved my Hydrasynth Deluxe and the same way works on it as well.....

As Digitakt 2 only just came out I haven’t had chance to create any Digitakt 2 specific sample and preset packs yet. I have been mainly concentrating on the course. Check out my Syntakt and Hydrasynth course pages on the site, Digitakt series will kinda take some inspiration from previous offerings, but I want to improve massively on delivery. I did a survey a few months ago and many folks wanted more genre specific content, start to finish lessons and how to perform etc with other machines. If your on my mailing list I will send out info soon as I’ve planned the next products to offer :)

You're saying that not even Drum samples volume 1 are not for DT2? Also, with the part 2 of the course, when will it be out? Would there be a discount for those who buy the part one? Thanks!

Samples are formatted to work with both dt1 and dt2, they are just samples so they can be loaded into any sampler. What I meant was they don’t contain preset data specifically for DT1 or DT2. Part two hopefully within next few months and yes I often send a discount to current students for upgrades :)

This is what I don't get. What kind of data can a .wav file have, that is specific for a sampler?

Except from being mono or stereo...

I’ve considered it many times! And I’ve tested the online player where you can route audio from your studio and I wasn’t keen on the quality of the plugins particularly the distortion plugins. Amazing concept though!

I go over it in some of my other videos and will do a dedicated one soon, it’s in the Ableton max 4 live performance pack and it allows you to create snapshots of the whole Ableton project. So I snapshot Al my eq, distortion settings etc for each song in my set and trigger the snapshot via a midi clip triggered from the Digitakt when I trigger the pattern for the next song

I’m not getting any lag if they are all running together cause the program change is sent before the pattern ends so all boxes cue up. Check routing and settings to make sure you’ve got everything setup efficiently

Also played in Bristol about a year and half ago in my last project but not played out I. A while! I’m gonna try and get some gigs lined up soon though

Hey! Yeah it takes a little trial and error to get setup with how you want things, hopefully these videos will help in some way. I obviously go a little too geeky but there’s ideas you can adopt for sure :) Let me know how u get on with bridge 6! Bit of a learning curve but they provide a lot of tuition on their YT page and il have more content up by time you get it too

Thankyou, glad to hear you are enjoying the content and topics 🙏 For the Hydra I would say absolutely, I’ve only just started bringing it back into my setup and before I was using it to make techno and slightly electro breaks stuff. Hydra shines particularly in electro when you want something wierd and modulated. If I want an analog bubbly bassline, like Jensen interceptor vibes il go for the Typhon, hydra can also do it really well but I always reserve the hydra for more intense sequences, pads, poly stuff.

@@jamesorvis_mixhackers Sorry thought I'd replied before, must have forgotten to send. It was all good, excellent grade and like new. Bought the Mini there too. You'll get good bang for your buck if you compromise on cosmetic wear of course, I'd trust them to have done a good job on the internals. Hope it's good for you.

Yeah that’s wierd, I think maybe you are picking up clock on the machines from Ableton? I only have Ableton listening to Digitakt 2 clock and that’s it, no more clock info goes back or forth between Ableton and machines

@@jamesorvis_mixhackers Awesome! I just received my Analog Heat +FX in the mail today so I have experimenting to do. I love coming up with new workflows almost as much as making the actual music. For this, Im thinking I should use it as a return effect, then I can send select Syntakt tracks and eventually some select DT2 tracks whenever it gets Overbridge.

@@jamesorvis_mixhackers Make sure you go into audio routing and turn "int to main" on. I also recommend turning up the usb to main gain some. According to my tests it has lower latency this way than with Overbridge, so Im interested to hear how it goes for you.

Wouldn't you be able to do this with Overbridge? Why the need for aggregate device?

@@formerself4372 You can, however in my testing overbridge has more latency, and also some people say theyve had stability issues with overbridge. So its another option. Also I dont think enough people are aware that you can do audio from the device and usb over audio at the same time or that you could technically send the digitakt tracks directly out your syntakt’s physical outs and vice versa from the syntakt out the digitakt’s physical outs - for example - which is just a crazy degree of audio routing flexibility if you ask me. Edit: I meant to say audio over usb

I think I did it to allow the possibility for a longer more complex sequence and also it’s easier to edit the sequence on the Digitakt with the cc parameter locks as well. In this case it may also of been to contain it in 2 bats instead of it rotating constantly. Master pattern switcher is actually the Bridge 6 by pirate midi, which tells the Octatrack to change pattern and then the Octatrack sends program changes to other elektrons, Digitakt changes the presets on synths.

The LFO’s can be used as sequencers but for most of these I’m triggering via Ableton clips

Hey yeah I often use it previously without a computer, the usb can be plugged into a socket for power instead. Also your configs are stored on the unit 🙏
