STRIEBIG - The Best in Vertical Panel Saws Just Keeps Getting BETTER.
Wow, that's impressive~! I didn't expect it to close that gap like that with the screw threads going into the edge of plywood. Nice demo~!
Your video preview still shows the thread reversed it hurts my eyes.
"Square head" screws are called Robertson head screws (a Canadian invention). Similar to the Philips head screws (the American "X" heads).
Robertson is definitely correct but no one in the US calls them that.
Shite particle board to start with 🤮.
If you say so…
Most of this crap is just over priced gimicktry from manufacturers. Stop falling for marketing BS to suck more money out of you. Screws are far too overpriced already.
If you say so. I guess physics aren’t real. May as well use drywall screws.
Those look like some darned good screws! I followed the link and was very ready to buy. . . Shipping and handling were far higher than I think they should be. To say I'm hesitating would be to understate things a bit.
Yeah, we’re hearing that a lot about the shipping. I guess it’s a flat rate even if it’s just a 100 pack.
We just started using a similar style screw. Nice option to have around.
Sweet! They work great.
First time viewer great video taught a old dog something new
Thanks for watching! Hope you come back for more 👍🏼
Pretty expensive with shipping for a hoppy that use a 1000 screws a year. Shipping is a deal breaker?
$20 does seem steep for a $7 pack of screws but you could order a bunch of screws and have them shipped for that much. But I understand $27 is a lot for 100 screws to try.
If only they weren’t Roberson drive/square drive :( Worst torque-based drive design ever invented, and you can’t change my mind on that.
I went to torx for about 5 years but I’m back to square.
@ torx is the way. I wish it were more widely adopted, but it’s getting there. Why did you move back to square from torx? Just the as yet limited availability, or was there some other mechanical reason?
No, I had full availability from my old supplier. Every #8 screw from 1”-3” was a T20. Now going back to #2 square I can get my #6 x 3/4” all the way up to #8 x 3” and bigger with the same drive. I’ve also found the square is easier to blindly interface into the screw over torx. The torque demand in woodworking is so low that cam out isn’t a huge issue.
It seems like these would draw the wood together better if there was a smooth section of the screw shaft for the first 3/4 to 1” below the head. Then it do pulls from the threads and readily slides on the smooth shaft. All threads and it won’t draw down as well because it will be fighting the threads in the upper section of the screw. Nice video discussion of the different screws! Those cabinet screws with the washer heads are great for so many things. I keep a stash of them laying around in 4-5 sizes.
I think the reverse thread section really helps draw it down.
Great little video. I've got a couple of 100 packs coming from quickscrews to see how they are in person. They look great. Thanks for sharing.
Sweet! Thanks for watching!
Screw such as that existed for a long time in decking industry. Head is deferent but counter clockwise portion is there for a while. However those screws have more opposite threads and they are TX if memory servers me right
Are you talking about Cortex screws? I’ve used a ton of them but they’re more of a trim head screw. They do have the counter thread at the top though.
Jeff you read my mind I was going to ask you about what screws are best for what application. What's the big difference between fine thread and coarse thread? That's where most of my confusion comes in. But this video was great for a novice like me. Perfect information. Thank you. I was looking at the website because you mentioned this company in previous videos and it was a bit confusing for someone like me for sure. Appreciate all the help.
Fine thread for hardwood and coarse thread for plywood/softwood is the general rule although you can get away with either. The only fine thread screw we use frequently would be a #7x1-1/2” pocket hole screw for building faceframes.
@@TodaysCraftsmen thank you
Anytime! 🙌🏼
Wow, killer price too. Thanks for sharing.
Anytime, Mike! 🙌🏼
What ever happened to SAE? This mm crap is for the birds
Are you referring to the confirmats? They’re a screw mostly used in European frameless cabinets so…
Those are very interesting screws Jeff. Thanks for the demo! 👍👍
Anytime, Steve! 🙌🏼
Nice! Q: what’s on the handle of your drill?
Thanks! Those are for the spider tool holsters and docks. I keep all my drills and drivers hanging off of my tool cart. Here’s a link for the docks: amzn.to/4aPJWKk
Confirmate made those decades ago. We always used them when doing Euro style cabinets, before we got doweling machine
Nice. I use them in conjunction with dowels. 8mm dowels and 3mm pilot holes drilled on my Gannomat.
Hi, Jeff. Do you guys have any coupon codes from Quickscrews? The shipping alone is 2x the cost of the screw pk themselves!😢
Yes! Could you please create the in-depth video you mentioned on drawer sizing and a detailed guide on installing the The Progressa drawer runners?
We ended up making it a few months ago!
Another amazing video! Love the content you guys are putting out. I’m a full time cabinet assembler using the 750 confirmats in the same plywood you use. But I’m going to definitely look into the funnel heads. I don’t really like using 750 confirmats in plywood but they work awesome in melamine and mdf
Thanks so much! Definitely check them out.
Quick s crews and Saturdays just go together.
Yeah baby!
Is the bayonet hole the same location as Blum tandem ? I already own the Blum jig, was curious if I can still use it when I make the switch to Salice.
I can’t remember exactly but I want to say it’s slightly different.
are you getting those direct from them or do you get them from hafele, sometimes stuff I get from HAfele are in their boxes
That’s where I first discovered Quickscrews. I’m now buying direct.
What screw would you recommend for installing HDF drawer fronts to 5/8" maple drawer boxes?
We just use #8x1-1/4” at a slight angle.
Great info, Jeff. I'll have to keep this in mind. Bill
Thanks, Bill! Glad you found it useful!
Do you use those funnel head screws for attaching cabinets together at the face frame?
We don’t do a lot of face frame cabinets anymore and when we do we build singular face frames so we don’t have to attach them at the stiles. BUT it seems like these would be a great option to really suck them together.
I don’t have any cabinet or other projects planned to use the screws, but I was still going to order 100 to try them. Unfortunately, quick screws is only offering an expensive quick ship option. It would be nice if they would offer a snail mail option so that folks wanting to “dip their toes in the water” can order a small quantity without breaking the bank. I will definitely keep them in mind for future purchases though.
That was one of the most educational videos I’ve seen on types of screes and kudos to Quickscrews for supporting your growing channel.
Wow! Thanks so much!
Really impressed with those results I’m definitely going to order some
They’re really awesome!
Comes down to cost man. Can you buy a case of 4300 for $ 86.00 with free delivery? We predrill with a countersink. Has worked fine forever .
For a case of 4000 is a little over $200. Sometimes the cheapest option isn’t the best. With that logic you may as well use drywall screws. Say you use 20 screws per cabinet…. You’d spend $1 instead of 40 cents. Say you did a big kitchen with 40 boxes…you spent $24 more on the funnel head screws. Grab a 100 pack and try them out. I didn’t think they’d be that different either.
I’m looking to get the same saw for my shop. What machine do you use for line bore and hole Placement for hinges and drawer slides. I was going to jump in and get an Anderson cnc but power in my building won’t allow…… yet
I was shopping an Anderson (and others) CNC but haven’t pulled the trigger yet. Right now I used a Detel V23P line bore and a Gannomat Optima 25 construction boring machine. Can’t say enough good things about the Striebig.
@@TodaysCraftsmen so when you’re doing European casework and have your hinge wing plate on the carcass and the hole spacing for side mount slides do you spot those by hand with jigs or does on of your machines do that? I got an omal hinge press and a scm edge bander, now with the striebig I’m almost good to go except those darn spotter holes that the cnc makes life easy for
I run my shelf pin holes at 37mm from the face so they also accept the hinge plates and at least 1 hole for the slides.
@@TodaysCraftsmen thank you for your response. Honestly I can’t believe I didn’t think that lol. I appreciate you
Anytime!
Track saw on steroids. I want one if I win the lottery one day 😂
Definitely not the most irresponsible purchase!
You were surprised that a #8 screw wasn't as strong as 5mm shanked screw? Those Confirmat screw shanks are the same as the minor diameter of a #14 wood screw.
When did I say that?
@@TodaysCraftsmen @6:25 "wow, that is not what I expected" after you sheared the #8 screws in plywood. @7:12 in reference to failure point with the Confirmat screws in plywood: "we split this veneer all the way down like six inches into the board." In reference to the screw itself: "we got a little bending here on these but no breakage so that's why we equate these to a dowel because they have all of that shear strength." @7:30 picking up the board with #8 screws: "I am really shocked that these snapped that easily. I know screws don't have that much strength in that application, but what a difference." Sounds pretty clear to me that you were comparing the shear strength of a #8 screw to 5mm shanked confirmat. Again, those confirmat screws, according to the dimensions you gave in the beginning of the video, have the same shank diameter as a #14 screw which is 2.25 times the cross sectional area and therefore over double the shear strength as the #8 screw that you were surprised at shearing...
Another way to look at your "head to head" comparison is putting a common 16d nail against a 4d nail.
I was surprised that the #8 screws snapped so easily. My surprise wasn’t because I thought the confirmat would be outperformed by a #8 screw. If that had been the case I would’ve articulated that specifically. The video was made to demonstrate that the confirmat IS way stronger than a standard #8 construction screw.
@@TodaysCraftsmen Didn't you say it was #8 wood screws(which are typically less ductile than a construction screw)? Something like a #14 CTX lag screw would be a more suitable comparison if you are trying to show the superiority of the Confirmat design.
Opinions on this vs an air assisted airless system?
Good question. I just got a Titan AAA setup so video coming soon.
Bro persona Effeminately trimmed beard Backwards trucker hat … Wood slab epoxy table Dismissed. Time to grow up, kid.
Thank you for your kind words! Tune in this Saturday for a brand new episode!
My son has a large shop here in Florida. The former owner of the shop had a large Striebig saw which was included in the sale. While they are awesome, they arent necessarily awesome for all cutting. He primarily uses his for long cuts, including counter top material, but prefers a sliding table saw for the shorter cuts, and things like squaring up cabinet doors. He has them side by side, so that when cutting plywood for example one guy can do the long rips while a second guy does the short cuts. Another saw that gets lots of use is the straight line rip saw. It (almost) eliminates the need for a jointer.
Awesome! I love the accuracy and back-saving aspects of the Striebig so I’ll never go back to a slider. We have a cabinet saw with a sliding table for instances where that kind of setup is superior.
Amazing machine. What is your main Business core to justify such a machine? What’s a ball park cost of such a machine set up ready to go?
Thanks! I own a custom cabinet shop called Greene Street Joinery. This saw in the video retails for about $40k
Awesome machine. In a small business time is money what a blessing !
Absolutely! And it saves my back.
Yes, give us a more detailed video on the draw construction and sizing. Thanks for a great introduction to Salice draw slides.
Thanks, Doug! Take a look at our past videos. We ended up making that video a couple months ago.
So cool what an amazing saw.
🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
Great video Jeff can’t wait to see how this comes together. Definitely something I would be interested in. Thanks for sharing
Thanks, Jim! Hopefully we’ll have a video out in the next few weeks.
Awesome video Jeff. Pays to have all the good tools. (Even though I know you won the panel saw😅)🤘🤘
You can say that again!
I was about to say it barely felt that cut. That’s crazy good. That’s things a beast! Nice looking slab too.
There’s something real satisfying about taking a crummy edge in some thick stock and making a nice clean straight edge rip. I run slabs on occasion on my Felder slider, just clamp it down with my pneumatic clamps and push it though! 😁👍🏻
It’s a great feeling for sure!
Can that Striebig cut bevels?
No but I’ve seen them run some kind of a miter -fold cutter on a different model.
Thank God yins saved it from becoming another epoxy table 😂
There’s always room for epoxy! 😂
I fell for the clickbait! I was waiting to see your first river table. Next in line would be the frenchcleat wall of woodpeckers!
I can’t promise a river table but I’ll work on the french cleat idea. 😉
I am jealous seeing that beautiful piece of walnut and I am not a fan of epoxy, I just love old school table designs.
It’s a gorgeous piece. I agree; epoxy can go.
😂 That's so easy is it even considered woodworking? 😂 Amazing tool!
Hit the ‘easy’ button 😂
