Another great presentation. As always y'all go above and beyond when with your attention to detail. Thank you for all that y'all do to keep the furniture profession alive and informative!
Nice job man. I've got the Q5 and a pressure pot but I've never used the pot because I don't want the hassle of cleaning it. You may have convinced me since I just finished a spray job that I had to refill my 22oz PPS cups at least 8 times. 🎯
That's a really slick setup, Jeff. It looks like it also allows you to hold the gun at angles you couldn't before. At first I thought it wouldn't be an HVLP system but then you explained that it was feeding paint and the turbines were still atomizing. Bill
Thanks, Bill! Yes, you’re absolutely right. I’ve always sprayed with a 3M pressure cup which allowed me to spray at any angle but if you’re going from a gravity fed or bottom cup this will definitely be a game changer.
Great looking rig~! i can see how that simplifies spraying, especially when you have numerous pieces to paint/stain/varnish/etc... Also not as clumsy with the material cup attached to the sprayer head, so no more bumping into the piece being sprayed and can get into tighter spots. I love it~! Extra points for that high-tech, pocket-hole screw hanger system~! ;-) Jeff, if you ever get to looking for a side-gig to the shop, you could do voiceovers or presentations for advertising. You sound like a pro~! Thanks guys~!
One of these days I'll be able to say I told you so but it's not today. You're so close but like most woodworker's you're stubborn. The pressure pot is close but you still have that giant vacuum hose going to the gun and now you got a pressure pot to clean up. It also looks like your putting on maybe half the material as a HVLP. The gun and hose are nice and lite and you can work out of a throw away bucket. It's gonna make my day, maybe even my week when I can say I told you so. Keep on keeping on . PS when you get closer to that CNC just ask, got some opinions there too.
Not stubborn this is just a stepping stone to a AAA. Can’t justify spending the $5k at this point and this is a great setup for the amount I spray at the moment.
Great video as always. Is the primer your using water based? I had a project where I sprayed water base and it raised the fibers in the Mdf bad. It took alot of sanding/ multi coats to get the surface ready. I read that it’s better to use an oil based primer on Mdf. Thanks again for all the videos!
Thank you! Yes, the Enduro White Undercoat is water based. It was formulated with MDF in mind and has great coverage so you’re able to sand back flat. I would definitely recommending using a double-refined MDF or an HDF to prevent some of that fiber pop.
Sorry, seemed like a snarky comment. You fill the pressure pot with water (or solvent if you’re spraying solvent based) and purge the hose into a container until you get water/solvent. Then you can put that paint back in the can before cleaning everything.
Can you talk about the daily cleanup of that rig?
We’re planning on doing a whole video on that down the road.

Thank you, sir!

It wasn’t too bad to clean!

Thanks! I made a better gun holder on Friday 😝

Nice!!!! What psi you have on the pressure pot?
It’s at 25psi to move this thick primer.

What mixing lid are you using on your paint cans?

BRB cleaning out 30ft of hose full of product and how much waste is that?
Have you ever used a sprayer with a hose? You don’t waste the material…
@@TodaysCraftsmen nope just a Graco F7 that needs to be cleaned out and the 3M cup system, hence the reason I asked.
