It doesn't have to be Lipton tea bags your paying for the brand for one just go to ladies buy their tea bags 1.78 same thing then other thing your just making a little jar to save money make a big pitcher of good old sweet tea 6 tea bags half tea half water punch of baking soda and if you want lemon add lemon I brew my tea right in the coffee maker and put it in pitcher add 2 half cups sugar add rest water to fill pitcher pinch of baking soda mix and in the fridge the sweet tea goes....its the best 🤗

Another way to do this is to put 2 qts of water into a 3 qt saucepan and bring it to a boil. Yes, I do mean BOIL. Once the water is boiling add a pinch of salt (to bring out the sweetness of the sugar) then add a pinch of baking soda and stir the water. Then add 1 cup of sugar and 4 “Family Size” Lipton or whatever brand tea you like to the water. Let this sit for 30 minutes with the top on the pan. Remove the tea bags and add up to but no more than 2 lemons (I only add 1 lemon) otherwise it is to much. I cut my “Organic” untreated lemons in wedges so that when it hits the hot water the oils come out of the skin and once everything cools down I pull the lemon out and squeeze out the juice. Then I take a one gallon pitcher and pour the tea in and add water (only use filtered water for this) until it hits the gallon mark on the pitcher. Leave this in the fridge until it is good and cold (at least 8 to 12 hours and the longer you leave it the better it tastes). I make mine right after dinner. By this time my kids when they were little (now they are adults) would be in the bathtub and I would get a good bit of the dishes (hand washing pots and pans) and also the dishwasher loaded. I would then let it cool and put it in the pitcher just before they went to bed and I would make 2 pitchers of this every night and I would let it sit overnight and test it in the morning. By dinner time it was really good. However, 4 kids and 2 adults does mean 2 gallons. Between batches rinse your pitchers with really hot water and dish soap. Rinse really, really well and let the water drain out or use a towel and dry out the pitchers. Every Friday after dinner I rinse out the pitchers and the tops and spray both top and pitcher with Clorox Clean-Up and let sit for 2 minutes. This removes the tea build up and coloring from my white pitches (Rubbermaid Gallon Size Pitchers) and then I rinse them out and wash with dish soap and rinse with Hot Water. I let them drain for a good 2-3 hours and then I make Tea again and fill them up and put them back in the fridge. Cleaning them out this way helps to make sure you always have great tasting tea and you don’t have a lot of bad/sour tea.
