  • What is Downsizing in Real estate? Downsizing is the simple act of moving from a larger home to a smaller home or reducing your housing expenses.
    Downsizing examples include :
1: Deciding to move from a 2500 square foot home with an upstairs and full basement to a 1200 square foot ranch with no basement.
    2. Selling a 1400 sq ft home and buying a 1300 sq ft townhome that includes lawn maintenance.
    3. Selling your four bedroom home that has a small mortgage and buying a smaller home with only 2 bedrooms and having no mortgage.
People downsize for various reasons. Downsizing does not refer to just age or getting older--- any homeowner can choose to downsize at any given point. Its what is right for your household at any given time.
