Video Doorbells, Ring Cameras, Security Systems-- What Buyers and Sellers NEED TO KNOW

SELLERS
Etiquette when selling your home regarding smart security devices and video doorbells (Ring, Blink, alexa, etc):
Determine up front if you are leaving or taking the smart devices with you. Discuss with your Realtor and make sure it is in both the listing and purchase contract, if applicable.
If you plan to leave the home when there is a showing (in order to make the potential buyers feel not rushed and more comfortable), please respect their privacy. A potential buyer may say something out loud and critique your personal style or decor, which could hurt your feelings.
Be mindful of watching potential buyers and avoiding fair housing disputes/claims.
BUYERS
Etiquette when buying a home and going on showings:
Always assume you are being watched- from ring door bells to webcams, baby monitors, or sellers parked on street in their car waiting for you to leave so they can return...someone may be watching you.
Be mindful in what you say out loud. It is perfectly acceptable to ask your REALTOR a question regarding the home, but keep your critiques to yourself until you leave. Talking about numbers, exclaiming how much you love the home, how over/underpriced it is, dislikes on personal property or decor can affect the negotiations.
