I know its not as interesting but Red/Gold Dragon Sorcerer going all in on heat and arcane acuity is great. You could make it more interesting by going paladin and add the Thermodynamo Axe, Shield of Scorching Reprisal and the Adamantine Splint combo. You could go 6 levels in each too unless you really need feats.

You could use half orc with relentless endurance to bring the hammer down on yourself and survive with 1 hp.

My favorite way to beat grym will always be minor illusion, baits him on the platform if he fails the investigation roll(which he usually will)

12:55 as an oath of vengance pali you should really get an extra option there bc as an oath of vengance pali you are the type of person to run past a burning orphanage if you see a sworn enemy and that person DID get people killed albeit unintentionally and for roleplay an oath of vengance palidan should enact vengance and get revenge for those shes wronged. obviously its your playthrough though thats just my 2 cents.

Another way to do it easy (and getting the trophy) Have a druid level 6 stand at the stairs Have Gale enlarge druid Make druid turn into owl bear Turn based mode Have other characters go down to activate the fight, once grym is on the platform where you would drop the hammer, make the enlarged owl bear crushing flight onto it. 900 bludgeoning damage.

I feel this ability is also one of the most poorly communicated, it took me looking online to figure out that it wasn't weapons that decided if it worked or not -- it's just melee damage. So club -- makes sense, sword and axe also work -- that's weird -- arrows never work -- but melee blades do? I guess they could have gotten around this via making new animations of handle strikes or something

that passive is so busted it still counts as kills for quests too

Does this fight always work now? I always get unlucky where he doesn’t get “superheated.” And before anyone says I’m doing it wrong, I followed a guide to the tee where it worked for them, but nothing happens for me (he doesn’t get superheated). I’m convinced it’s a bug.

you know he reloaded this a few times when the lava looks like that 😂 especially the memphits with with the base of the hammer is too high. Doesn’t work as well today cause you need grym to be fully on magma to make sure superheated is applied
