I got my Thundrrbird with a V6, and I actually laughed when one person I knew was impressed. Only reason I bought it with a V6 was because the total amount of 98-93 Thunderbirds for sale was(drum roll please) one. Luckily I have no issues waiting to buy and install a V8, or else I wouldn't have bought it likely. All that said I only find V6 owners worth laughing at if they either act like others should look at it as anything other than a project to complete in time, or they demand I respect it for some arbitrary reason they decided makes up for the lack of engine(especially seeing as I don't even overly respect my own in it's current state).

You can pick up a Barra Turbo and build it to around 1000hp for under 10k usd and slap it in pretty much anything for cheap, just dont know if its easy or cheap to get over in the states. I know a lot of guys that daily it with barely any issues.

If you get china turbos get little ones. Theyll spool faster, go with the basic ball bearing external waste gate turbos because theyre simple and relaible.

Im basically a vette boomer already. I like doing OEM plus builds. Making my old truck drive and look like new again, add some options mine didnt have, plus a few mods like a smidgen more power, wheels, tires, slightly lifted, modern gauge cluster (rather than having gauges self tapped into the dash or pillars), radio, leather, ect. Simple and clean, not too worried about things breaking because its unlikely with the power i make, and if something does its a cheap fast fix. One recommendation, make friends with some people that run fab machine shops. Thats how i made my own skip plates, cupholders, trailer hitch, front bumper (OEM looking wench bumper), tie down points in the bed, body work, and other random little things i could put together in CAD like a billet rear window latch because the plastic ones break every 2 seconds.

Dru, just some constructive criticism from a guy who does briefs and instructs large audiences. When you walk around, especially away and towards the camera, its distracting. You should center yourself. Side to side isnt bad, especially if youre in front of a large screen and you're emphasizing stuff on it. A podium doesn't work with your setup, and you cant angle your cars out and stand behind a table, so maybe a barstool? I like this format, just think you'd tighten up your shot group with less movement and more presence facing the camera closer up.

The K&N kit for my S197 3V actually makes it worse at low rpm. It's the only mod that the first owner put on when it was new, and honestly I'd prefer the better low end throttle response of the OEM intake since I don't spend much time over 4k rpms where it actually helps. Probably gonna go back to OEM with K&N drop in filter whenever I see a clean one in a junkyard.

Let’s be fair, the oem intake is designed to be there, unless if you’re planning to turbocharge or supercharge your car, the stock intake if not is far better than any aftermarket intake.

Would you consider the Lexus 5.0 to be a good motor? You can boost them just like a coyote and make decent power, 750+. It was a great motor and ahead of its time for when it debuted, same as the transmission. Obviously nowadays it’s still considered slow but aye, great motor from what I’ve know. Yamaha/lexus 5.0 ftw

Yeah it was still a V8, but it was half the power and a kighter motor, just like going with the none V8 option. Dont listen to this clown, buy what you like, dont worry about what other people think. Buying a car for clout means youre into the attention and not the hobby itself. If youre building a none V8 car, everything from the V8 works suspension wise and there is no lack of support for power. I had a V6, i bought the V8 later on, i still have the V8 and i want another V6 because it was a better handling car with the same mods.

Might be the exception but i Disagree my guy with the carbon. I do composites and ive got my hood down from 56lbs to 8.6, got my hatch down to 10lbs instead and doors got down to 8lbs. Roof from 50lbs to 15lbs. Carbon is not all show no go. Most carbon on the market is one layer carbon and the rest fiberglass but full carbon is not a waste of money. I swapped in oem cloth manual seats for interior so that its not ugly gutted but still allowing to shed more weight. Ive shed hundreds of pounds with the carbon. Def worth it lol

Drew been doing lots of rants lately. 👍🏻 My intake pipe was included with the supercharger. My other intake is custom fabbed to seal off the air cleaner in the hood for cowl induction. Borla on one car and Magnafow on the other. The only carbon fibre I have is a skateboard. Good show.

Why not combine both carbon fiber parts and performance. Like for example on a s550 Mustang GT get a Whipple and make 800 whp and get carbon fiber fenders, hood, and trunk and gut the car

I’d say cheap intakes can be good as long as you use it as a starting point. For my daily I got a $100 intake then got the pipe to turn it to a true cold air pulling from my bumper and wrapped the engine bay potions in reflective heat tape. My Intake temps normally stay around 5-7 degrees above ambient. PSA: Don’t use exhaust wrap on your intake, stuff’s meant to keep heat in, not out.

The other issue with cheap intakes is the way the air is funneled towards the MAF sensor making it think there is a lot more air coming in when in reality there isn’t which then causes the PCM/ECU think that it needs to add more fuel to balance it out. Good intakes make sure that the reading the MAF is getting is representative of the entire circumference of the intake tube but cheap ones do not. This means adding more fuel even though it doesn’t need it which can cause engine damage and reduced fuel economy.
