twin turbo 6spd LS1 here, built bottom end using eagle crank and texas speed rods with flat top 9:1 compression, around the 850whp mark, built trans as well. im in 25k including the car.
mind u he’s also talking simplicity as well because hes talking to the crowd of newer but experienced enough enthusiasts who are ready to hit the modding stage. as well as him talking about cheap and more reliable. a built motor and trans is not simplistic. even a heads/cam job on an Ls/Lt i would say is not simplistic for the newer enthusiasts crowd. while a whipple on a coyote can be done without pulling the motor
You can pick up a Barra Turbo and build it to around 1000hp for under 10k usd and slap it in pretty much anything for cheap, just dont know if its easy or cheap to get over in the states. I know a lot of guys that daily it with barely any issues.
25:00 I have a big turbo RS on E30 and while it’s fast for what it is and a blast in the desert, it’s on par with a gen 3 coyote FBO on E. So much engine work has to be done for it to make substantial power comfortably so it’s another $10k+ car to make truly fast.
Lots of C6s falling into the wrong hands around here . Now every 20 year old with 8 points on his license has one. At least they're finally being driven the way they were meant to be instead of never revving over 1300rpms on a Sunday afternoon 😅
gen2 coyote, k24, ls3, b58, Lt1, 2jz, hemi, n54, you gave your take on all of them and for the most part i completely agree. what are your thoughts on boosted vqs? boosted vhr and hr's are making 600 wheel w decent reliability and a huge aftermarket support. It can get a little expensive tho so probably not the best financial friendly option.
The engines great but the chassis are becoming a problem because now that 350's and G35s are cheap the cars got into not as desirable hands so it takes a bit more digging to find clean examples
14:40 i know im a BMW fan boy but no glaze BMW is the meta i genuinely a 340i or a 440i is the easiest car to make 700-800 HP SIMPLE and maybe even cheaper than a coyote
I wrote out a long explanation but it won't be cost or time affective and the aftermarket beyond full bolt ons is weak. They also aren't reliable at 800-1000 which is what all of his cars seem to climb to.
@@grimplayz7565 more potential for a slower bmw than a supercar lol. content wouldve been crazy during the b58 pump. could still do it as they get cheaper

Friend of mine went and stuffed a turbod k series into a gutted v6 new edge, made 340 and weighed in at 2,682 lbs. thing RIPPED and handled really good considering it still had a live axle, total cost of everything and the car when he was done was under $9,000.
5.3 vortec (00-07) engines are also a very cheap alternative to v8 chevy engines, because their dummy cheap! and many parts from ls engines fit on it like ls9 parts for example.
I have a 04 350z. Sounds awesome stock . My 2018 q60 rs down pipes borla exhaust mishimoto hx and a stage two tune on awd 519 HP 319tq. The z my daily the z keeps on going. I took your advice both cars are fun and fast enough. It's the fun factor.
Making power is no joke. The worst part is all the people who lie online, especially the “you can built a 1,000hp LS for $10k!” Sure, now build the car around it 😂 Boosting my Z31 has cost me enough to have just put a GOOD downpayment on a GT
Nah c8’s are all over the Midwest. I live in central Indiana and go to school northeast Indiana and I see at least one c8 each day. Even the z06 is getting more common. I was at a cruise in the other week and saw 4 c8 z06’s
The shift speed of an automatic vs manual is not much faster if you have a driver mod. The automatic only really reigns supreme in the 10 speed transmissions. They stay in the powerband whereas a six speed has to climb back up.
There is a guy in my town with a twin turbo Eagle 5.7, stock engine besides gapped rings making like 1100whp on +20psi. Its cool and all but even he admits it would have been cheaper to boost a coyote.
I had a 2019 Corvette Grand Sport with the 8 speed auto, I took it to the track (road course) once and the trans overheated on the second set of 6 laps. It wasn't even hot out. I'll never buy a Corvette again. I now have a 2021 Mach 1.
Would you consider the Lexus 5.0 to be a good motor? You can boost them just like a coyote and make decent power, 750+. It was a great motor and ahead of its time for when it debuted, same as the transmission. Obviously nowadays it’s still considered slow but aye, great motor from what I’ve know. Yamaha/lexus 5.0 ftw
The catfish is the #1 function over form car but na the ls1 can at most do 450whp boosted 500whp engine swaping is a nessecity to go fast which adds to the price and almost gen 2 coyote mustang price
What horsepower would you think is both streetable, reliable and fun for a daily driver? I don’t need it the fastest but I have a Gen 3 Coyote 2019 Ford Mustang GT Premium A10. Thinking of doing a stage 1 or 2 Whipple, wheels, cat back exhaust and calling it a day. Would I have to do anything else to make it more reliable?
What transmission are you using in the S197? Trying to replace the decrepit TR3650 5 speed in mine- it's really the weakest link in an otherwise decent road car. I see a lot of people going for the GT500 TR6060 swaps, but really the ratios arent that much better than the 3650.
If you are worried about transmission ratios and not building it past 450 wheel just get a better clutch and 3:73 or 4:10s. Im currently intake exhaust cam and tune and got 4.10s. They are great
@slimsid7078 already have a McLeod street pro clutch and 3.55s with Steeda LCAs and panhard. I have the OEM short throw and a new OEM flywheel, so maybe that's what make my shifts feel like they take 2-3 business days? Not looking to push more than 400hp- just want to get rid of that sloppy feel and enjoy driving it.
In a straight line , new autos as much as I hate to admit , can be faster .. however , in a canyon or some nice cornering and such , a manual is best 👌🏽
These are oddly relaxing to watch
on god
put them on 2 speed
i think its cause it feels like ur j talking to a homie yk
