Lovely garden van setup.
what I do is have the blade so the black and the silver showing at the same time from the top of the atatchment and then I file the black one only both sides and then I spray them with wd40 and run the blade a bit then spray with wd40 at the end of the day and run it a gain to keep the blade sharp and lubrecated and lasting for longer
Hi mate, glad to see you are making a good go at your own business and it’s working out for you. I’m looking to do something very similar myself and didn’t know if you would be able to make a video explaining the business insurance and legal things you need to cover to set up and run a business. Keep up the good work.
just found your channel, good to see that there are still some young people who dont afraid hard work, well done sir, keep it going, one advice:know your worth, and never let people tell you what you can and cant charge them,i learned this the hard way,in the end had to walk away from those people.there are plenty of good ones who will work with you.
Think your doing a top.job mate im liverpool btw
Can I ask what you charged for that mate
Skip companies can be a pain in the a**, ask them to collect it, they said sure, didn't turn up and left it sitting in a driveway for 1 week. While I look like a muppet and said yes, it will be gone by xxx and it still sitting there. Still at least you got the right size skip you ordered? Fence looks nice and tidy job.
Harley good video bro. I feel you're semi new to this industry? Great to see another young fellow gardener like myself and local ish to me also (Hampshire) BUT, if I see another video of you edging with the strimmer, I will personally find you and poke you in the eyes! 😁 Nah but seriously bro, 1 wrong stone and goodbye eye. Not worth the risk. I brought a pack of 12 goggles for around £15 on amazon. Decent things. Keep up the vids my guy, I'm on 10 years gardening and might switch to self employment next year.
I done this leaving lads on jobs it never works out lads ringing up all day and never do it the way u want it
Bingo 🤣
any more videos pal? are you still mowing?
There will be one this year and more to come next year. Ive been doing lot of tree work and im not filming it until lm ticketed!!!!!
These things happen, part of the joys of being self employed. You're doing great 👍🏻
No cargo barrier in the van , a quick stop or an accident and ya gonna have a tool in the back of ya head
looks like that as of november a trailer that size with now cost £100 at the tip ffs
What!
Aup mate I have my own tree and hedge business I'm not tha far from u I'm 21 and I'd like to spend a week with u helping and teaching u I won't charge you anything send me a pm
How do you decide how much to charge when you’re starting out?
I’m looking at starting my own garden maintenance company as I’ll be leaving the Army in the next couple of years after 23 year’s service. I just don’t like the idea of putting on a suit and sitting in an office all day. I want to be outside.
What’s the plan for when all those bits of sumac root start growing in the new lawn?
After the first cut these will be cut right down leavening a fresh lawn on top the lawn will swallow them and as it get foot traffic it will drive it into the ground, this is the second time ive done this process so i know it works in the long run. I also was on a tight budget so I drive labor cost up to much. Thanks for the comment.
@@HDGardenCareok, hopefully the plan works 👍
Harley I Excavator Fan but because of Epilepsy I only can use on private Ground so when had to dig up 32ft x 10ft wide Bamboo I got what you got as had to do other stuff back in 2015 should done in 2016 as that would been a good 50 for me I did it year Early at Sisters place I not used Mini Excavator in 25yrs did not take long to figure out how use it was good Birthday weekend laugh was get 750mm Kubota through 800mm side Garage door managed it without hitting door next thing trying dig Bamboo stumps write against Fence with out breaking it they had trouble getting me off Kubota
Im sure you will get another chance to climb in one soon enough. There easy enough to grasp but I would say that I learnt to operate before I could drive so i can just hop in and muscle memory takes over !
@@HDGardenCare Harley I only driven Ride on Mowers & Compact Tractor that on Front of Facebook Profile
I've done a lot of reclamation work, similar to above. With the sprawling root structure of those shrubs, I would have used a mini digger like you did. A stump grinder is a great piece of kit, but it's more suited to mature trees with a well-defined base.
Thanks its always nice to know I was taking the right approtch.
Stick with the digger I would have got a small skip on site to save having to go and get rid of the waste
When I worked out the diesel and time taken to tip off, it would have been cheaper to do it this way. Although if the garden was bigger, I would have gotten a skip. I only had 1 and a half trailer loads off of it, wouldn't if even filled a 4 yder. It's a great suggestion however this is why I opted for this. Your right the digger is definitely the best option. Most comments agreed. Thanks for taking the time to watch this video.

Is there roots sticking out the ground? Surley your not going to leave it like that?
There were a few. However, once it's had it first cut it, it will pick up any small lose but on the floor and look like a lovely lawn. Cheers
Lay turf... sow seeds...gnome sayin
Thanks for the comment
You definitely went the right way digging them out. The stump grinder would have just dealt with the little bits poking up but Sumac are an absolute ball-ache and will keep growing like mad and make the level lawn lumpy in no time.
Your right, the extra hire fee would of come straight off profit so what's the point. My passion remains 😂 . Thanks for the comment.
😀👍
Top man
Defo use stump grinder. Near to no waste and doesn’t compress the ground you want to seed/turf from the weight of the machine and a bit cheaper so get more profit margin
Grest suggestion maybe, I still think I would of needed a digger so it would of just drove hire fees up on this occasion however it's a grest suggestion for other jobs. Thanks for the comment
A stump grinder would be good. However, if you still needed to fix the levels afterwards, you would still have had to rent a digger, so you would have had increased hire costs. There would also still have been some waste to take away! Mixing soft ground up stumps into the ground isn't ideal when turfing or seeding because when they rot, you will end up with soft, low spots in the garden. I would have done exactly what you did and just rented a digger for the day! PS. you should have ear defenders on when you are on the digger! Don't want to go deaf!
Fantastic bit of information. I find these comments really helpful. You make some grest points. Cheers
I like how Let’s Dig 18 digs Stumps up he got a Thumb so can pull roots out he lift & drops Stumps so soil falls off & also uses Bucket teeth pull soil off Stump
Most hire machines don't have thumbs, you can achieve the same things using a toothed bucket, just requires a bit of experience.
That's for the comment husky. Finding a hire machine with thumb is hard like pualf said. A decent operator will figure it out with a bucket. Thank you both for your input to the channel.
love the content man keep it up u have inspired me to start my own business too so love to see the content keep coming out
I love to hear this, I wish you the best with your business. You will smash it mate. Thanks for the comment.
Please don't go using any plant without previous experience or training after watching this. Cheers.
stump grinders are no use ok for big stumps
I used one the other day after the filming of this on a small stump. It was a mint little machine. Maybe I'll change my opinion with more experience. Thanks for the comment.
Get a euro 4 transit 12 plate downwards good work horses. Had a Citroen Berlingo I worked her to death until the engine seized. Transits are the best don’t go for the new ones after 12 plate there scrap with the wet belt
They made the 2l up to the 2016 plate so you can get the newer shapes with the 2l there harder to get mind you.
How do you get the leads?
I use many different strategies to get work. Stay tuned to hear them in future videos.

The best
You need to save and save and over time save for a new van it will save you a lot of money
I mean the 2.2 transit need a wet belt every 50k miles at 1000 each yeah noo I'll stick to my old girl she's reliable it's wear and tear for it's age is a common fault on them and I've spent less than 1k in maintenance during my 3.5 year if owerner ship. Now tell me something newer would be just as reliable and as cheap I really can't see it but please defend you point!
bloody vans 😏 my 1.6 caddy had a fortune spent on it this year. discs & pads all round, 2 calipers, front spring , 2 rear bushes, cam belt & pump. its our number 1 tool mate 👍
Treat you self to another van weight than one in just going to be a money pit false economy keeping it
I don't believe this. I have mechanics in my family so 60 an hour labor is not something I need to worrie about..parts are cheap and the 1.9 in then are about the most reliable engine money can buy. It would be a false economy buying a newer van for 8 to 10k then still having to put more money into it at some point. Wear and tear is still a thing on the newer van I can't see it being cheaper plus the old girls barly uses fuel. I'll get 300 quod scrap and she's worth 1 to 1.5k on the private market as is. It's still got another 40k reliable miles in her why scrap it for something that's probably going to cost me more in the long run....
Me Not had good time My Epilepsy Pills over yrs now give me Osteoporosis in Back & Tuesday found out got Frozen Shoulder & Rotator Cuff had to Get Stihl BR800C because my arm as can’t start old Blower new blower lot easier start Thursday used it blow Dew off Lawn to make it easier for Mower
Not good, I hope you get better soon.
Hi mate, I have noticed that you sell a bit of firewood on the side of your business. I am looking to do this on the side of my gardening business. Is there any licensing or certification/moisture content that I need or can you just sell the firewood. Any tips would be greatly appreciated thanks 👍
Not sure about licences. I mean always use a saw with care, you will lose a limb other wise. you just want to keep the wood to below 20% moisture and try to only sell hard wood for home use as soft wood has a tendency to spit embers. if this lands on carpet its known to curse a house fire . I hope this helps.

Interesting advice about the 2 stroke oil ratio pal. I was always anal about getting the mix of 50:1 just right. I even went lazy & got the Stihl 100mm packs to save time measuring. I’ve not had any equipment seize up, however.
This is extremely convenient, Maybe its just me who thinks this however I would rather buy 2 stroke than I would rebuild a machines.
Good job, really enjoying your channel, keep up the good work!
Thanks for the support!
Great advice for me, thanks. Keep up the great work! What did you do about the patio tile that broke?
Mucked it back into place and used a bit of muck to hide the crack as best I could we got a good result.
👍keep it up
Thanks mate. Thanks for the support.
Hard to take advice from someone who doesn't use eye and ear protection whilst using a strimmer.
Yes, This is not good practice I should do more!
on pricing do you give a price when going to see the job like before you start?
Yes prices is always agreed first
I keep forgetting batteries
