"Beethoven", "I Need A Man", "You Have Placed A Chill In My Heart".... 'Savage' is indeed a magnificent album from Annie and Dave. Do you have the edition with the poster?

Several classic albums, but you left off the best album of the year. The eponymous debut of THE OCEAN BLUE. They even toured with the might lemon drops. If you know of them you easily would have put them on the list, if you knew and did not then we need to talk.

1989...a great year...almost feels like 90! Not only does it feature one of my favorite albums of all time (You mentioned Cure--Disintegration), but it has so MANY great albums that it's very hard to choose. Going through my top, I also count: Blue Nile--Hats, New Order--Technique, Kirsty MacColl--Kite, Stone Roses--Stone Roses, Swing Out Sister--Kaleidoscope World, XTC--Oranges & Lemons, Elvis Costello--Spike, Nine Inch Nails--Pretty Hate Machine, The The--Mind Bomb, Tears for Fears--Seeds of Love, Julee Cruise--Floating Into the Night, Lilac Time--Paradise Circus, Liza Minnelli--Results, and Kate Bush--Sensual World. Add in Pixies--Doolittle, De La Soul--3 Ft High and Rising, and Beastie Boys--Paul's Boutique and what a cracking year it was for music. Technically, you could include Lisa Stansfield, but that wasn't officially released in the US until 1990 (came out November 89 in the UK). I don't think Batman was Prince's best work but I don't HATE it...But I was VERY happy to see 1814 at the top! God bless the B-52's...Such a great album that Cosmic Thang...

in 1982 MCA released "Synapse Gap {Mundo Total}" by Joe "King" Carrasco & The Crowns. This release has a single, "Don't Let A Woman {Make A Fool Out Of You}" featuring harmony vocals by Michael Jackson. I think you might enjoy. I have owned it since it came out because I try to get everything Joe "King" Carrasco releases. I enjoy your videos, both here and with the guncles.

I cried for Donna Summer! She's the only one that's ever happened for! I've loved her since I was 11 in 1978! I've always been a huge fan of Disco music and New Wave! I did also feel really terrible when Olivia Newton- John passed! I felt like crying but I managed not to!

Another great video! What a strange year 1988 was. 1987 was arguably better for full length albums, but 88 was the year acid and house seemed to start infiltrating the singles charts a lot, while hair metal was big in the US. It was also a big year for industrial records from Skinny Puppy, Front 242, and Ministry. Transitional! Love your choices like Siouxsie (my fave of theirs), Cocteau and Dead Can Dance. Love to 4AD! Surprised Pixies' Surfer Rosa isn't there too but not for everybody. Some of my favorites that year other than yours would have been Marc Almond--The Stars We Are, Morrissey--Viva Hate, Primitives--Lovely, Lilac Time--Lilac Time, Prince--Lovesexy, Wolfgang Press--Bird Wood Cage, Throwing Muses--House Tornado, Talk Talk--Spirit of Eden, and Everything But the Girl--Idlewild. Hello! Just found your channel, but will have to check out more of your videos for sure! Having an entire series about favorite 80s albums and name dropping Erasure, Yazoo, Depeche Mode (Vince Clark fan I assume? 🙂), this was awesome! I recently discovered the Savage album, but haven't listened to it entirely yet. I've been listening to The Presets and they have a song named "Beethoven" that is semi-similar to the Eurythmics' song.

Hi Craig need to catch up on the 80’s videos you have been doing. Natalie Merchant is my favorite female artist and tigerLilly I only have on cd. Would love to get on vinyl. The Dylan record you showed yes I never hear anything good about but it is on my want list as well. Pork soda I thought was Primus😊 . Talking heads I really like but no vinyl records yet. great pick ups.

Dylan was the LP that Colombia put out when Bob went over to Asylum for a couple records. Putting out whatever they still had. Love your videos, solo and with the gunkles

Craig - Fantastic video. Tigerlily is a favorite of mine. I own "Paradise is There" and love how Natalie's voice has matured. The orchestral arrangements are gorgeous. We may have different opinions on "Beloved Wife", which is my second favorite Natalie Merchant song. "Verdi Cries" is my favorite. The Unplugged performance is special to me. I could go on forever talking about Natlie/1,000 Maniacs. The Cohen album is hauntingly beautiful. (you're welcome - cute card)

Quite the variety Craig. Thanks for sharing some of the tracks on that Dylan album. One that I would see constantly in and around the used record shops in Boston. But I never really looked at it in any great detail. There was a rumor going around that Jonathan Richmond actually wrote Big Yellow Taxi and not Joni. Cool to hear that Bob covers it on that album. How is that Lightning Seeds album overall? I remember Cloudcuckooland's release. "Pure" got some bigtime airplay. 10,000 Maniacs MTV has made the rounds in some other VC videos. Way to go Craig. OK...This is the funniest video you have ever made! Mowers! Lights! Peace dog & the Kitty Kat Rapists!!! I was laughing out loud!! Hysterical. Anyhow...Great list! Thanks for the Savage love...I feel that album is much loved by Eurythmics fans but did not do well in the US. Gee...I wonder why when the lead single was "Beethoven"! One of my favorite songs by them but VERY experimental for the hair-metal USA in the late 80's. Also, thanks for the Sinead love...Incredible album, and her passing along with the Prince and George (and Bowie too) all brought tears to my eyes. Those people were major milestones in my music passion and every one was so tragic (There have been other sad ones as well...Pete Burns, Steve Strange, John Lennon, Tom Petty...I could go on...but those first few mentioned really hit hard). Sign is my favorite Prince album as well in a catalog filled with favorites from him. Your favorite Smiths is also mine. Here are some of my favorites from 1987 you did not mention, with the first being one of my favorites of all-time: David Sylvian--Secrets of the Beehive. Also: Pet Shop Boys--Actually. Marc Almond--Mother Fist & Her Five Daughters. The Cure--Kiss Me Kiss Me Kiss Me. Depeche Mode--Music for the Masses. Suzanne Vega--Solitude Standing. XTC--Skylarking.
