9 Things to do When You're Bored in SnowRunner
Beginner when the truck tips :NOO WTF I HATE THIS GAME Veteran when the truck tips: Haha enough snowrunner for today
You can also turn on and off AWD on the towed truck, it will remember your selection. Borders of the road, in many times are a lot better than the road itself. First person view can help a lot to get a more precise driving, and be better for turning at the right moment, specially useful given the poor steering angles devs give to many trucks. If pulling a trailer and you get stuck in the mud, detaching it will help a lot to the stucked truck.
Great points. Doesn't the first point only relate to if your truck's engine is turned on, for fuel consumption? Second is definitely a solid tip, very helpful in areas where the road is really muddy. Didn't know about the third one, I'll have to test this tonight, I'm using the P16 for a big delivery on Alaska hard mode with the 8-slot trailer. Yeah, I use this one a lot. Thanks for commenting!
@@thegamingrat1First applies to when you are towing a second truck that you have access to. You can turn it on if you want extra help, but also in that towed one AWD selection will left on or off depending on what you selected once you go back to the towing truck.
@@thegamingrat1About the third one... I didn't use first person in this game at the beginning, and the times I used it felt strange, I suppose it is because I was so used to third person view, but once I got used to it, my driving improved and had much less tip accidents, you see the road much closer this way.
As player of snowrunner for 6 month now with most of the seasons bought, well im still a newbie but i knew most of the stuff thanks to mudrunner and SD1ONE
Have fun, you've got many hours of pain ahead ;)
I've already experienced it all and I loved every second of it Driving trucks for hours already finished Ontario and Br Columbia with 96% mostly
Well, to greatly reduce the weight of a whinched vehicle I simply turn it's motor on. It's fast and simple.
True, but sometimes you have to tow a broken truck.
I do this sometimes, but only when neccessary like in deep mud, or driving up a hill. I don't feel that the extra fuel consumption is worth getting to a location a few minutes faster.
@@thegamingrat1 I see. But I think it's worth it. You even showed how accidents may occur when braking. For the fuel, it's not that a problem if you carry extra fuel, the trucks aren't that thirsty or if you already have some fueling points in the course.
@Hakucho64 yeah. Obviously I was refering to trucks in good condition enough.
Who gives a f--k , play on have fun and learn from your mistakes .
Haha yeah, the best way to learn any game :)
Add to these maybe - unpacked cargo is usually lighter. If stuck in mud can help to unpack - offroad tires can be more efficient than mud ones because under the mud there use to be a dirt layer. If tires are big enough or mud not very deep, offroad > mud - try to be as far as possible when using winch to unflip a heavy vehicle
First point is really helpful. It also doesn't have a hitbox, so it is super useful for exclusive cargo towing missions, like the one in Kola Peninsula, "The Star in the Sky". I used this trick many times and saved me getting stuck on a tree. I've never heard of this second point! This would make them extraordinarily useful for more mild maps like the past few seasons or base game maps? I'll have to play around with this tonight. Fair enough, but most of the time the player doesn't really have that much room to decide where to flip their vehicle from. Thank you for your valuable tips!
You are correct in some things. However some of your 'veteran' techniques are very amateur. Take it from someone who spent almost 20 years driving huge, mainly ex Soviet, trucks off road & in very deep mud, for fun The is a phenomenon called LIQUIFACTION that is caused by spinning wheels in mud, it causes water to accumulate under the tires & acts like a lubricant stopping all traction. To overcome liquifaction use the lowest gear, & gently on & off the throttle very slowly, staying off the throttle more than on it. Mud liquifaction is incorporated into all Spintires games I never use the winch for self recovery, just for delivering trucks, i only engage the towed truck's engine when descending a paved hill As for your crane stuff Hmmm, for one that 'rowing' thing is completely unnecessary if you know how to overcome liquifaction Using a crane as a counterbalance is dumb, for one it unbalances the truck, put a wheel in a pot hole or gully on the crane side & your truck is on its roof. Use first person/cab view so you can judge the terrain & any camber, most trucks will lean at 40 to 45 degrees before tipping, others will exceed 50 degrees. Plus the big cranes have a counter balance with the equivalent, or higher weight than the crane boom at low angle full reach, at short reach, any angle the counterbalance weight is heavier than the boom & creates more downward force on the counterbalance side. A crane boom that weighs 3 tons will usually have a counterbalance weight of between 4 & 7 tons depending on its full reach length & max rated lifting capacity, small Hiab cranes have their counterbalance built into their base & chassis mountings. The '58' crane is actually a crane designed to be fitted to the rear, or occasionally front, of semi trailers, it was never designed to be fitted to trucks, it's also Ukrainian & sold mainly in Siberia, its 'jacks' have a clever trick, they can be further extended downwards to completely lift a trailers axles of the ground to enable trailer wheels to be changed when a driver got a puncture,, many Soviet truck cranes had this feature The most important part of any off road truck is its suspension type, most US multi axle 'off road'??? truck have short travel highway suspension systems which is useless of road. Choose something with Walking Beam rear suspension as it has huge amounts of vertical wheel travel My 'scout' trucks are the Azov 73210 with 3 slot bed & rear crane & the 605 with a 6 slot tri axle semi trailer & crane. Neither of which are fitted with fat monster tires, as fat tires rarely find the bottom in mud & are more likely to cause liquifaction due to their flotation effect When a truck is fitted with selectable AWD it should only be needed about 5% of the time, when approaching some mud select low & diff lock, half throttle & drive through it (see my YT channel for how I do it in the 9500 without AWD fitted & towing a fully loaded semi trailer & no winch use or mud tires) SR is very easy when you know how
Wow, your videos are impressive! I don't think I'd ever be able to do anything like that. Your opinion on handling mud is very interesting, I really did learn some things there. Yeah, I've found that some of the trucks with good suspension travel like the Tatras for example do very well off-road. Can I ask, how do you use that 605R setup? How do you use a small crane, and a 6-slot semi? Are these mods that you use? Anways, thanks for your in-depth response and your valuable tips :)!
@@thegamingrat1 The 605 you need is the Goliath mod, fit a mid range engine & the slow shift box, the 6 slot trailer is from the Trailer Pak mod, it has side stanchions so it can be double stacked I had 20 ish years of playing in mud in big ex Soviet military trucks, everything from the little Luaz up to big assed Maz & the 135 with its twin engines & bugger all suspension (ear defenders ESSENTIAL) Of them all i loved driving the Zil 131, Kraz 255 , the not so little Ural 4320 & the Gaz 66 (which wrecked my right shoulder due to the gear levers being so far back, it would pull away from stopped in 4th gear though, No ex Soviet military truck will do more than 60 Kmh, 37 Mph flat out & they can be somewhat self steering at anything above 25 Mph. Off road they're practically unstoppable, even without using AWD
I knew all of them, except for the tip with reverse towing. I usually dont get stuck often, and i am using only the trucks from the game that has given to me.(No Stand Alone DLC'S or trucks from the shop)
So you don't buy any trucks? Only use trucks that you find around the maps? That's a very interesting playstyle, I'm sure that'll have its challenges and highlights as well! :)
@thegamingrat1 By playing this way you learn better the vehicles you have and you focus better on the game and you don't constantly look for which vehicle to carry out the next mission with. You just have to choose correctly which vehicle is capable of doing the next mission. I have done the maps in order and at this moment I am at the end of Yukon. The vehicles I use the most are the Tayga, DAN, Tweensteer, Derry Longhorn and the Cat 745C. Also to lower the difficulty I use JAT Tyres and at the beginning of each map I do Scouting with the Tayga+FuelTankAddOn+ Earthroamer as a combo.
@@Daredevil1891c this is actually so cool I have to try this lol
@Prestiqe I have to worn you ,sometimes it gets a little bit boring but at the end achieving something that's almost impossible to do with a vanilla truck, you will feel like the king of SnowRunner. 😆😆🤭
I didn’t know that quick crane was a thing, and I’ve been playing since launch
Yeah, it's hard to do but when it works out it's very rewarding :)
700 hours in and only just finding out I can put pulled trucks into N
Same thing! I've played this game since Phase 4. Though it was only for a little bit. I left for a while, and when I came back to play the game it was Phase 6. And I've played through every Phase since. But yes... I also didn't think about putting my towed trucks in Neutral..
Same
Towing trucks on N seems rather useless: you can't enter the "quest" trucks. Also, when towing owned truck running engine is more preferable in most cases. Well, maybe except hard fuel economy. And even in this case you will crash the truck on rope in no doubt (mentioned in video).
Glad to know you learned something new!
There's a really interesting Reddit post that I think has some helpful information in it: www.reddit.com/r/snowrunner/comments/1e6piq2/crunching_the_numbers_on_neutralgear_towing_it_is/
When i first started playing snowrunner at 10ish i remember being so scared when it became night.
Great video but if you show down how fast the text goes off the screen would be even for a greater video!! 🎉🎉
Tatarin is terrible, the burlak is about as much use of road as a pair of 1970's rollerskates The F750 is very capable & rarely needs to use AWD even in deep mud if you select the right gear, control the throttle & don't spin the wheels The earthroamer is very capable & works best with the tires it comes with & off road box My favourite scouts are the 605 with 6 slot semi trailer & crane. The 73210 with 3 slot sideboard, rear mounted crane & 5 slot 4 axle trailer The 73210 & 605 are perfect for scouting as the can drag anything out of anywhere & leave it somewhere convenient to be collected when passing when the job has been discovered, the can also do just about anything but farming tasks, & life is much easier when doing paid work whilst travelling from watchtower to watchtower. I haven't used a scout for scouting since the very first maps, probably 5 or 6 watchtowers in total. I've had some big assed Soviet trucks in some tiny places & always manage to turn them around without winching, I only use the winch for recovering trucks & dragging them to where they need to be. I also avoid fitting fat tires that stick out more than the widest part of the truck, they're a major hindrance & of no benefit in mud due to their floatation effect & tendency to cause liquifaction, yes liquifaction of mud is a real thing IRL & in Snowrunner & mudrunner, it's fthe main reason y'all get bogged down when it gets slippy & I don't Ps i spent almost 22 years driving big, mainly ex Soviet & European, trucks off road for fun, there were a few US trucks but anything post mid 1960's & they're useless off road due to crappy multilink road suspension with virtually zero wheel articulation Fun fact - raised suspension doesn't increase ground clearance, it only increases the distance between the wheel hub & wheel arch, it also significantly increases C.O.G, as does active suspension, both are pointless & a hindrance, even on the 73210 which is by far the best off road truck in SR (if you know how to drive a truck with a low approach angle, I was taught in an ex RAF Leibherr 12X12 70t. Max / 28t L,A,F.R* mobile crane ) *Low Angle Full Reach
Nice video 🎉 Burlak is slow but steady
ABSOLUTELY UNREALISTIC ground physics game!!! Don't WASTE your nerves and time for this c#ap !!!!
Not my favorite background music.
Step 310E is probably my favorite "underrated" offroad truck. Small fuel tank may turn people off but it's stock engine have a good mix of power-to-fuel consumption ratio, the frame sits fairly high too which helps with ground clearance despite having smaller tires than most offroad trucks. Also, the Western Star 47X NF 1430 is a beast! double-dead axels, only 44inch tires and no Diff-Lock will make people sneer at it but that powerhouse of an engine and heavy OHD tires more than makes up for it. You can also haul both short and medium logs with it using the medium-log trailer and stacking the logs on the short-log frame with your crane, them push them over to the medium trailer and pack em one load at a time.
Yeah I like the 310E as well. I haven't tried the 1430 yet, I might do that today!
would you mind telling us what music youve used for this video? its incredible!
They're both from the UA-cam Audio Library: 1st one is Echappe - Dan Bodan 2nd one is Wonder - VYEN
Great video! Very informative and enjoyable to watch. I had to pause quite often honestly because I couldn't read the text fast enough. Different views of the trucks would also help viewers see exactly the vehicles you are mentioning. I'm looking forward to your next effort and your content is really appreciated.
I'm glad you enjoyed it! I'll work on making the text more readable for my future videos.
Really nice music used in the video
Was it my comment that intrigued you about the Telehandler? I've been shouting this things praises as a scout for maybe years now. lol Sure it's slow and sure it can't do water. It's slow and can't do water. But it's mud/snow capability is insane, tiny vehicle with 4 wheel steering gives it crazy shape turning, very fuel efficient, and usually you can find ways around water so it's not that big of an issue. It really is quite an amazing little vehicle.
Sure was haha! I had a mission on Amur, I think it was to pick up that Yar + Trailer on top of that mountain, and decided to use the CAT and it did a great job!
@@thegamingrat1 Nice. I haven't used it much for towing just for pure scouting. The Tatarin is still my go to for towing vehicles. I should try that CAT sometime and see how it does.
@@justinlynch3 I think the fact that it's so light but has such a low center of gravity and crazy power to weight actually makes it really good for this.
@@Prestiqe Cool. Thanks.
i will try the scout and the freightleiner but i am NOT buying 2 pointless dlcs for 1 truck
Maybe you underrated them, but that doesn't mean others did it too...
Snowrunner content is underrated
There's no chances to place Burlak over Tatarin. Stability is the key in this game and Burlak is tippy like 1 year old baby trying to walk 😂
Bllud is using MSH tires on zikz, he is delulu.
highway trucks are amazing ( especially ford clt, and transtar , if you use them w semitrailers, and highrange gearbox , you can go offroading w them no problem). It's just a skill issue of people not knowing how to use them right.
Have you found an effective way to use the Transtar? Every way I use it I can't seem to get it more than 100 meters!
У БТР 1 большая проблема - нет фаркопа. Не годится для разведки. Бурлак цепляет локатор и на лебедке тянет еще цистерну. Лучший скаут на данный момент.
I always tought #2 referred to the "landmines" in roads 💯
There should be a twinsteer at num. 2
That's a fun truck!
counter steering is something most people should know if u bought snowrunner u must be interested in trucks mud and what not but you should also know basic physics
Very correct!
fun video 😀
Glad you enjoyed!
You can easily reach 100mph/160km with just double clicking the lb button to shift up
True, also very fun :)
western star 57x is my favorite truck in the game, I have passed most of the contacts in Alaska, Michigan and Taimyr using only it (even before they added AWD for it) Very powerful truck, can be used as a wrecker for overturned trucks, with the right use of high gear can put on the wheels of many large class trucks in one fell swoop
It's a very solid truck, with insane power, and great versatility. I need to give it more appreciation!
The tatarin is the great scout but lacks chained tires and snork even though the tatarin is a n amphibious vehicle recommendation is use burlak if the region had too much ice
Yeah, both of them have their downsides.
Missed the Mac Defense...my favorite truck to use. It is a beast and can do just about any job while still being fast with a highrange gearbox.
My favourite truck aswell, if I had to choose one truck to use it'd definitely be the mac
True, although I personally think it's outclassed by a few of the other offroad trucks like the Tayga, Vorons.
so damn creamy! thanks!
Another useless truck in snowrunner
Snowrunner dont like speed Drift ct681
Ok is it just me, or did the burlak actually float in the water test?
Haha yeah, it looks like it did! Maybe that's because of its insane height which makes it look like that.
Auto winches connect based on your camera angle, they are not locked to the front.
theres no (PC)shift-/(XBOX)LB-/(PS)L1-spamming mentioned for changing gears up or down in automatic mode
The worst thing for me is this random damage you get when going a little too quickly on flat asphalt. Can someone explain?
Yeah, that's a pain. No real fix to it aside from trying to avoid those rocks and driving slowly :)
common mistake for me was starting a mission before scouting, then realizing my crappy truck cant even make it to the drop off point lmao
True!
There's nothing quite like random suspension and tire damage. I love going on a clear asphalt road just for my suspension to take 4 to 15 damage every now and then for no reason
Yeah, that's a pain. No real fix to it aside from trying to avoid those rocks and driving slowly :)
Speak instead of wroying It's the point of a video
ofc its better because Tatarin is in the game and Burlak cost 7 euros extra.
Yukon cost 7 euros and doesn't have any particularly useful trucks. Just because a region or truck costs money doesn't necessarily mean it's great.
@@thegamingrat1 yes and elden ring cost 60 buck and doesnt have particularly useful trucks either :D and other random things cost money and dont have trucks, what i am annoyed about is that many of these trucks list never mention that most of "good" trucks are for extra cash. Ofc a paid truck will be better than a free one because there has to be a reason to buy it.
