Did you consider getting tubes for the wheels ? 😮
Rearend going out is common on those mowers
Good job! WH’s are the best you should bring it to the Wheel horse big show. The work horses are this years feature tractor
Thanks. For not giving any information about the transmission. Not all 5 species are the same for Chevy.
Thanks for asking a question to get the information you want! NV3500.
Are you sure? That's not the 290?
I now you can got it to 100%.
Need a course on cleaning a mower.
@15:35 you got the "keyway" put in there??? 😅😂
Hey bud if you don't mind whereabouts you live at and what you want for that transmission and flywheel
I found it bro is there any possible way you can send us a list of all the stuff that you got for your truck like to clutch the flywheel throw out bearings all that stuff please I could really help me
Hey buddy what year is that donor truck if you don't mind me asking that has the five speed in it
Must of felt like Dr. Frankenstein when it started. “It’s alive”
Great job! Nice profit too😊
25 hp - that’s a powerful little tractor
Great filter, except it’s made in China
That 2-3 is just the accumulator piston
I restore these for a living. Awesome truck
How much power do those engine's have?
Nice
I found another method for freeing potentially stuck fasteners is to whack the heads with a hammer before attempting to remove. This especially applies to exhaust bolts and head bolts in proximity to the exhaust valves. I second the idea that threadlocker is better than antiseize for head bolts or any fasteners for dissimilar metals. You can always apply heat to free them. The key is to prevent moisture from entering the area. I would have used high strength threadlocker to those connecting rod cap bolts, especially since you mentioned the nuts are prone to loosening.
you really do a great job
Great video I got a few Onan in some Sears FF 24 I need to get back working. Just waiting on warmer weather and a new shop build. Love keeping the old garden tractors going,.
It looks like this engine is a GX200 converted to run on diesel. Looks like the same specs and measurements and bore as the GX200. I think the stroke may be different, though.
Sandpaper? You must know the difference between sandpaper and emorycloth!
lol! I get a little tongue twisted when filming
One of my first jobs was at a spring factory!!! the new spring you showed was an opposite twist of the old one. Would not matter in your replacement situation. Still once I had to rehab a very antique door closer for a large 100 year old home, of a very Giant screen door. The twist does matter for a pull/push situation. Trust me. I just Subscribed.
You are the first person who’s ever told me they worked in a spring factory. That’s very interesting insight !
Use muriatic acid. I soak it in strips of paper towels soaked in it. I have rebuilt a few Briggs single cylinder engines like this.
That’s it! I couldn’t remember what it was called but I’ve seen Machinery Restorer on here use it quite a bit !
manual vehicles and lawn mowers is all i like and mostly own!
Thats good, use parts you already have and make a good machine.
I had my doubts going into it and I’ve very pleased with how it turned out! I’m ready for warmer weather so I can get it cleaned up. As always, thanks for watching !
Great video! Im glad to see the tractor fixed!
Loved the video! You have a good looking Wheel Horse
muriatic acid (diluted hydrochloric acid) is great for removing aluminum from steel cranks. around ten dollars, very available, used in cleaning swimming pools, etc. Also, divot/recess in crank isn't as bad if it is opposite the piston when the spark plug fires.
I have the same blast cabinet. I did do the mod with air dryer on the compressor and another on the cabinet. I have a 5hp 80 gal compressor. Issue I’m having is losing prime with the media. I have to keep priming it by holding a finger over the tip and it temporarily fixes it. I’ve also adjusted the ball valve off the mod and made sure the hose has no hard bends. Tsc blast media. Might try different gun not sure after that.
The tsc meds you’re talking about, is it the ballads beauty coal slag ? I’ve only ever been able to make the fine grit work. They also sell larger grit
Thank you for sharing your experience and expertise. Not many people work on these older models. I find them very reliable and strong. They were built to last with a little bit of care and maintenance but you sir took it all the way. Great video.
Watch any Onan video I can find. Thanks for bringing another one, back from the dead. Make sure and get yourself the grommet that goes around the oil filter. Keeps the air moving over the cylinder fins, as opposed to exiting around the oil filter. Main reason that connecting rod breaks at that cylinder. That cylinder overheats. Usually can be purchased from the local John Deere dealer for around $6. Fellow Operator here. Local #150, up north. Enjoy your winter off.
It’s been a very rewarding hobby. Thanks for watching !
Isn't that great , to get use out of an engine you saved. What do you think was the reason one engine had head bolts break and the other engine didn't? Maybe one was left out side & one was garage kept.
It’s hard telling. Could also be one has be apart before whereas the other was still factory sealed from 30 years ago
haha, i was not expecting the entire piston and rod just laying down there. i honestly thought someone took it out.
Same here! I never thought it would break down enough to just disappear into the sump
🦘🇦🇺Great job again
Awesome video you sure did a lot of work on that motor thank you so much for the video
With that other rod coming loose I would definitely put some red locktight on the rod nuts. Though I have never seen that.
Very good point. I now know why Briggs use lock tabs on some rod bolts !
A very humble man, that's not afraid to admit his mistakes, and makes you feel like you're right there with him helping him, as he does the repairs. Teaching and learning at the same time, this is the way it's done! Thank You!
Thank you for the kind words! My hope is someone can take inspiration from what I do. Whether it be the same way I do it or as an example for what NOT to do lol!
I’d say this job deserves six cold snacks
I think you’re right !
i'd love to have a garage/shop to work on all my stuff... but when you rent not own kind of hard to do.
I spent many winters working under a canopy or in front a torpedo heater. I bought this house specifically for the garage lol!
@@LaidOffGarage i have spent all my life and still do work in the open elements for 40 plus years.
got to do things on the cheap especially like me being on a low income budget.
i have 1635 hours on my 1993 toro wheel horse 416-8 with the onans 16hp twin engine all stock never torn down.
love the hubcaps, love to find me a set.
Did you get my email ? DJ might have a set !
@@LaidOffGarage yes i did levi my friend, i just haven't called him yet. thank you. still got to get me a toro hour meter
I have never seen an onan- I have worked on wisconsin and clinton
I’d never heard of them until I started diving into the Wheelhorse hobby. But from what I’ve seen, they used onans in many applications. Generators, welders etc
Hell a feller couldn’t click fast enough on the push notification
I know I can always count on getting atleast 1 view a video !
Can you make a quick video on how you got the speedometer gauge and reverse lights to work
Speedometer was a breeze. Both trans used the same speed sensor so it was plug and play. However I still have not wired in reverse lights. I know how to do it, just haven’t tackled it yet. I am planning on doing another video on this truck in the near future.
Your music sucks
Thanks for the hate! Take care !
I think off-white rims with red weights to match the tractor is classic look.
your are doing great
Do you want to sell the automatic that came out of the chevrolet truck
I would've if i still had it!
