Hey Pete thanks for the video. I have the Shelly 3em. Do you know if there’s a way on viewing or downloading data that will show the maximum amount of current used in Amps over a set recorded period! I can see it in real time but can’t find a graph or download for the highest recorded current like you have for consumption & voltage! Cheers mate! 👍🏾

Thank you. Much appreciated 👍
The playback data box is definitely in the dash settings, mine was unchecked when I followed this, so I checked the Plex dash, and it is in there. Thanks for the video.
thank you sir

😮hi to ask I want to remove and replace my EE was BT ROUTER. being thick do you just connect the Ethernet cable from the EE fibre modem small white box to the router and then do your changes
I just plugged my router straight into the modem with an ethernet cable .
Be very wary of these sort of sites... Always accept, that you are leaving the author of the website with the contents of whatever PDF file you just compressed!! I'm surprised with how many security first videos you have on here that you condone the use of these sites, especially with no warning of the dangers of uploading confidential data to them....
I had to sign in to thank You and subscribe.. Thank you
Your are welcome 👍
do you know if this method works with EE now that BT brought EE ?
I dont know to be honest. I haven't used an EE router. I have just switched to community fibre and I managed to use my ASUS router with that provider OK.
Neutral not earth 😉 9:27
That is so cheap. Looking forward to seeing if you can put Tasmota on it. Going to order one anyway. At that price why not :)
Yeah, it was a pure impulse buy, but for £0.80p you can't go wrong 😅
You're a real hero
Thank you 👍
Nice video, thanks. So if there is a ground fault the current would flow to the din rail?
Thanks. I think given the way the earth blocks screw down to the rail you would be right.
@@Builtbypete Thanks. I think I would rather use just a regular combiner block for ground that didn't have metal feet to the din rail that would pass overflowing current thru in the event of an overage to a dedicated ground wire to earth ground.
Hi, Can I wire my spur box into the ring main, then supply my boiler from the spur box, thank you, great video, cheers
Yes, you can do that. I would suggest making it a fused spur for safety. 👍
@@Builtbypete brilliant, thank you chap
Your welcome
@@Builtbypete Would there ever be any point in putting a junction box into the ring main, then go down into the fused spur box then onto the appliance.
No, not really. That would end up just being the same as a spur.
Hey Pete, your video definitely has helped me out. How would I eliminate the first 2 characters of all of my filenames in PowerRename? Im trying to remove a 2-digit sequential numbering system that was auto-created with the file?
Excellent! Thanks - this certainly saves a whole lot of work!!
Glad it helped!
If you go to qos and disable it. It brings back your full speeds. It worked for me.
Thank you so much! Saved me a lot of trouble
You're welcome!
I am researching extending wifi from asus ax-5400 aimesh router. I have to extend wifi 160M so 4 static caravans in a line have access and I can run a LAN cable between the nodes if needed. I am thinking one at 60M and another about 130M for complete coverage. Would I be right in thinking data would flow between the router & nodes via the 1 Gig cable but also give thorough wifi for each dwelling ?
Hi. If you connect each node to the main router via ethernet cable the. You'd have 1gb backhaul from each node. Then as devices move around your site they would attach via WiFi to the node with the beat signal strength.
@@Builtbypete Could I hop the network cable from Asus router to node 1 then to node 2? The two nodes would be asus routers with 4x LAN at the back so link in and out... that would save on quality copper cable (which is v expensive here)
Generally, you want to use the WAN port of the satellite to hook it to the existing network, either to the router's LAN port or to a switch that connects to the router. You can also daisy-chain the nodes. In a mix of wired and wireless backhauling setups, it's best to have the wireless satellites connected directly to a router or a wired satellite.
Or you can just use the Export fuction and save it as a PDF directly. It's right below the "Print" fuction on the list. I did a little test and the exported file takes up less disk space.
Excellent 👍
A godsend. Thank you so much for this.
You're very welcome!
How do I prefix at the end of the file name instead?
You could try this: ua-cam.com/video/UuWdxoYZ-s4/v-deo.htmlsi=nKSiWDCeQ7IQ2B3o
That's brilliant. Thanks alot 👍
Your welcome. I maybe will write a script to get the numbers automatically or event to send out emails when temps hit definable limits.
Have Asus ASUS RT-AX86U (Not the PRO) by uploading the Merlin will it keep all the previous settings or they will be reset? Like port forwarding, etc. Thanks
When I did mine, all my settings remained fine. You could do a backup of the settings to be safe. It's always a possibility that you could lose the settings I suppose, but every Merlin upgrade I've ever done it has been fine.
@@Builtbypete Thanks for reply.
@@burnjack291 Your welcome. Good luck 👍
Thank you for this video. I have one question. I want to remote desktop through the internet from another location to screencapture a youtube live event. Is that possible?
You can remote desktop over the internet. You just need to think about security. I run an openvpn server on my LAN and then that means I can remote desktop to a Mach on my LAN from anywhere over the internet.
what if there are emojis?.. how to remove them?
Fantastic explanation and give thanks for the link!
Glad it helped you

Fantastic! Thanks for the tip!
I just learn a little bit about RegEx. For prefix I can use the symbol ^ This is a really helpful tool, thanks for the tip
I've not tried this yet on my windows pc but I've been using MPV to get around the VLC not playing UA-cam. For windows I'd much rather use VLC even though I prefer mpv generally because I find it works better on my windows pc
Thanks for the review. I was wondering about the splice point you mentioned. That looks like it's in the middle of your house . Did CF run a cable under your floor to get there? I thought they normally just drill a hole in the external wall and terminate the cable on the otherside of it?
Yes, normally would be on an outside wall. I pre-drilled the hole and ran conduit ahead of CM visit so I could have the point where I wanted it.
@@Builtbypete haha, clever guy. You had it all prepared. Also I wanted to ask you about the shared IP. Is the IP on the external interface they give you a private IP that get natted somewhere upstream? (I assume you are a network engineer of some kind from how you talk on your video)
They use CGNAT as do most new ISPs these days which means your public IP address isn't actually your IP address so DDNS won't work. You need to buy additionally a fixed IP from CM if you need that.
@@Builtbypete yeah I know , was just wondering if CGNAT means it has private IPs on the external interfaces of the CF modem. No worries.
Ah, right. Sorry. I missed that. I'm not sure on that one I'm afraid.
vlc died after 2 days of using "play media from network" absolutly no solution other then find a new program... vlc latest.. not work vlc 3.0.0... not work even reinstalling several times... nothing!!! setting changes everything possible... not work run as admin... not work restarting pc.... not work checked update history... nothing happened over-night... pc was not even restarted... anyone know a program that can do this other then vlc?
Hello pete i would like to know where do i get the user name and password in order to login to the pc ?
It's the user name and password that you usually use to unlock your PC.
@@Builtbypete well I do not have a password to my PC and I have been trying to login but I can't
Ok. I haven't come across that before. Do you have a Microsoft account. If so try that username and password.
it work offline, right?
If both machines are on the same LAN is will work 👍
@@Builtbypete If both machines are connected only with each other ?

If i do not enable web access from WAN, does that mean I cannot hook my ASUS ROUTER up to my Sagemcom fast 5688W tmobile router threw the WAN port? Or would that be OK still?
Are you using the T-Mobile device as a failover for the Asus or for your main mail connection via the T-Mobile network as your main ISP
@Builtbypete I'm connecting the ASUS So I can get better down/up speeds, plus possibly better ping. As of now my tmobile home internet sucks. Lots of people say it will help. I just want to open up more options to the Sagemcom fast 5688W tmobile router I'm rockin now.. I hear the Sagemcoms wifi antenna isn't good that's inside the router, so that's why they say to get this or something similar. It's just what I could afford. I've never hooked up 2 modems before, or bridged a network or any of that. I just PC Game and I wanna reduce lag and ping, better latency would be nice.. Tmobile just has us (it's cutomers) in shackles with the non ability to change or switch options on router. I do in fact have a way of turning off the wifi in my main Sagemcom fast 5688W, my problem is when I disable the wifi for the main , then hookup the asus via cat6 ethernet, what settings do I configure on the asus.. alot of videos and reading got me all confused. Imma attempt the process tomorrow when the cat6 cables get delivered.
The Asus has good bandwidth management as well as device prioritisation. It also has a good gaming mode. I have never used the T-Mobile device, but if it has a modem mode then that can feed into Asus wan port via ethernet. You may have to try a few different settings in the Asus wan settings tab, but I'm sure you can get it to work.
a very underated video keep up the work! dont give up
Thank you
not helps
Now 58u v2 support any successful attempts

bro who tf still using win 10 😭💀
My guess, more than 60% of all windows user are still on 10. Win11 is a small 20% ish take up. There are about 1.5 billion windows machine in the world so probably 900 million ish still on Win 10.
Thanks a lot Pete. I am using the same 88U, may I ask do I need to disconnect the WAN and other LAN cable during the firmware update. I know we should use one LAN cable to connect to router - computer for more stable connection.
Thank you. No need to disconnect WAN. You can leave it connected.

With mobile devices randomizing their MAC addresses by default and if one is using wireless extenders or Wi-Fi extenders which in turn randomized the mac address of the device the above advice is fairly useless.
