ASUS Router Cooling Fan Test

  • Testing a small USB Fan to cool my ASUS router. The ASUS router uses passive cooling and the CPU can get hot. Using a small cheap USB fan I am testing the amount of CPU cooling that can be achieved. This shows the CPU going from 72 degrees Celsius to 58 degrees Celsius in just 10 minutes. Keeping your ASUS router cool is going to help optimise performance and extend the life of your ASUS router.

Didnt waste time mucking about.. dual AC Infinity 120mm fans arrived today and are cooling the new AX86U and ISP modem! Router went from 75C to 47C in less than an hour! 🤘🏿

ya know this is a good topic, most of us in consumer dont think about the cooling needs now on these faster routers. Mines in my closet that doesn't receive much air flow from the AC.. Now it probably extend the life, i wonder if we can some how push the network components. Of course the buzzard from Computex is AI, which is just BS.. but it could be something.

Have you ever contemplated disassembling that router to look at its internals and passive cooling method?
Also, if such a video does not exist for this model, then you should really film the disassmbly. 😂

Hi Ash. I did have a think about that. I may still do it. I believe its just a heat sink thermally pasted to the CPU. A bigger heat sink would probably help if there was adequate space.

My RT-AX86U Pro is always at 59-60c

I wonder if they have a bigger heat sink maybe.
