Francis Lowell and the Industrial Revolution (Why He's Important)
Imagine a complete city devoted to the production of Textiles. This is the start of the Industrial Revolution we read about in school.
In 1810 a Boston Merchant named Francis Lowell had the idea to set up a complete town dedicated to textile production. They took a small area in Massachusetts and set up the town of Lowell Massachusetts with all its waterways and factories. They used the water of the Merrimack River and the Pawtucket Falls to drive water turbines to run power looms and later converted to steam power. This is the beginning of the Industrial Revolution in the USA. The National Park Service has set up the Lowell National Historic Park to capture this history.

    WARNING: If you do this and use PC fans, be prepared to replace them regularly. They are not made for outdoor use, and the plastic will get brittle and fail. If they fail when they are running, and a blade comes off, it could damage the fins on the back of the refrigerator.

    • @TignerAdventures
      @TignerAdventures 2 дні тому

      Thanks but this isn't true. I have been using these for the last year and they still are very pliable. So this just isn't true. And they don't spin fast enough to do anything to a metal fin. So I"m not sure where you are getting your info. Also these are mounted at the top of your draft area out of the sun.

    • @GerenM63
      @GerenM63 День тому

      @@TignerAdventures Yes, it is very true. Mine shattered on me TODAY. They were mounted EXACTLY as yours are. And, BTW, it’s not like you invented this idea. Mine had been in service for five years, almost to the day. Just be prepared to replace them, and protect your equipment.

    • @TignerAdventures
      @TignerAdventures День тому

      @@GerenM63 5 years is a pretty good life. The ones in my PC usually only lasted about 2 years and just stopped. At least these have ball bearings in them. And true I did not invent this idea, I just explained how and why I did it. It has been great. I had some from Camping World that were solar and they only lasted about a year and started making all kinds of noise. The bottom line is I am very pleased with these and it is a good thing to do for your refrigerator.

    • @GerenM63
      @GerenM63 День тому

      @@TignerAdventures Yeah, all I was trying to say was that these things won’t last forever, and if they come apart as mine did, there’s the possibility of damage. Without actually seeing all of it happen, I think that one or two blades failed and were flung off into others, causing a “cascade failure”. I found a couple of blades wedged pretty tightly into the cooling fins (which surprised me). It was the plastic that aged and failed, not the bearings. Mine ran continuously since their installation - our trailer is always powered, even when stored at home. I probably should have given more detail in my initial comment, and for that omission, I apologize. I’ll replace the ones that failed (200mm 1200RPM ball bearing fans) with new ones, as it is remarkably effective, but I’ll put notes in my calendar to check them periodically. Ultimately, though, I’m going to want to go to a 12V compressor fridge - or get a new camper that comes with one. Happy camping.

    How good is the angle on the side cameras? In my box truck I have a hard time turning left sometimes because I can't see what's going on on the passenger side. If you put the camera right under the window, can you see directly to the right of the camera?

    • @TignerAdventures
      @TignerAdventures 7 днів тому

      Thanks for watching Paul and good question. So you can position the camera where you want it. I have it so it shows the side of my vehicle out away. Looking at the screen I see about 120 degree angle. Meaning from the camera out if I went 3' back from the camera and out 3' that is the angle I see. Although I could turn the camera more out or move the camera forward more to better that angle. But in reality I can see there is a car next to me when we are at a light for example with no issue.

    Why not use a piece of sheet metal vs cardboard?

      You can use what ever you want as long as it can restrict the flow. Cardboard is easier to cut and less chance of getting cut. Metal is long lasting but my cardboard is doing a great job and it was free. If you are worried it might catch fire I guess that would be a reason to put metal there. But it is up above everything and should not be touching anything. Good question though.

    Just wondering, why don't people use the cassette type indoor units for the mini-splits and place them in place of the old over head RV AC units. One might think that would be a better solution on installing a mini-split system in a RV

      There are so many options out there and new ones coming out all the time. But the costs have to also be considered. A standard mini split is pretty cheap and the new options are getting cheaper also. So who knows where it will all end up. Thanks for watching.
