Note to my friends : NYC transit is CASH FREE. The subway stations have ticket machines like DC but the buses do not accept cash. Something that caught us unexpectently when we last visited NYC.

Is this an ad to go to NYC? lol. I thought that the setup in DC for paying was pretty nice however we left there with $1 left on each of our cards. Don't know when we will use that. NYC is nice for this for sure as you just use your phone and pay, no need for a card. You can still buy cards if you don't have a phone. That subway is really big so I am not doing a video on that on. But I will be doing a video on our NYC visit.

@@TignerAdventures Plenty of other UA-cam creators do NYC subway videos which is why I never made a video on the subject. However, over many years I managed to actually ride the entire system. Looking forward to what you decide to see and do as one can spend weeks/months exploring the area.

Some additional notes for tourists using the DC Metro. The Red Line to Wheaton is currently replaced by a bus shuttle which stops at all and only Red Line Stations. Pentagon but NOT Pentagon City is highly restricted. Military Personnel only! National Cemetery Station is limited to the hours the Cemetery is open to the public. You can also access the cemetery by crossing the bridge over the river from the "Mall". Some entrances to the Metro are limited hours. One that catches tourists regularly is the Mall entrance to Smithsonian closes relatively early. The entrance that stays open is south of Independence Avenue and not the easiest to find. There are three DC connectors... Red , Blue and Yellow. The bus system is actually about eight county/city systems. DC central is all Metrobus but the counties/cities around are separate systems. Good news is transfers/fares are accepted across most systems.

Thanks for the added info Michael. Visitors must also pay attention to all the exhibits that are under renovation. The Smithsonian Castle for example is closed and Jefferson and Lincoln are partially closed. Even the Green Line was partially closed one day and you had to transfer to buses. Luckily that was past our stop. Thanks for watching.
