Les, can you do a day at the Redcar horse races? Would love to see that
Hi not a horse race fan so sadly not. Only ever been to one Race day Thanks for the suggestion.
Les my admiration for what you've been through knows no bounds kidda...I too was somewhat where you were when i was in my early 20s...so my god all that you've worked for at 50 being just gone overnight is unreal. I will never MARRY again ..no man should EVER in a western country...everything is stacked against us. I wasnt so bothered about the money it was my 2 kids that i didnt get to see, that utterly destroyed me and made me so bitter. They're both grown and have nothing to with her now. Finding a balance between work and life is hard...so i concentrated on myself and will always do that now. And yes NOTHING good has happened in the last 10 years ..scrub that 20 as far as what ive lived through. The only people that possible have ...are the politicians who have R..a ped the country with their snouts in the trough, lining their own pockets. The shining example is the Covid PPE scandal that has held NOT 1 of those scum sucking parasite responsible.
Thanks so much for your comment, yep been through a lot, and many guys I know have done the same thing lost everything and pushed that reset button in a worse position. It can be done but it is hard. The kids despise me and will never talk to me but never say never, but life still goes on without them, I just feel they have no forgiveness or morals, I failed to bring them up with passion and kindness and forgiveness, these are the makings of a good person so sadly I believe my daughters are not nice people in this world. Never mind don't waste energy on those who do not deserve your time and energy. Best wishes for your future, exactly what you say Your life is in your hands.🙏
@@RetiredandLivingthedream Yep...your girls being poisoned by an ex probably made them that way sadly, no kids are born that way. I've helped 10s of thousands kids who weren't mine over the years (Ive worked in professional football on and off since ...and probably because of losing mine, i replaced them with those kids ive coached and recruited) to their and my mutual benefit. So materially i still dont really give as much of a sht as i should but i look at it this way..all those kids ive coached are my immortality everything they have learned they will share ..because of ME. Hopefully we can share a beer next time you pop over to see the carnage of why you left and put the world to rights that only adversity and life experiences can do best..🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😇😇😇😇
Many are possessed by demons over there ...
Mental issues are in every country. Thanks for watching.
Do you pay tax in the UK, if not you have no say!
Yes I pay tax in the UK so I have a say,
@@RetiredandLivingthedream Good man. I should have watched the video all the way through before spouting off!🤔
I live in Pattaya, not my favourite place. If I had a choice I'd live in Koh Phan Ngan. I don't think I could handle the loneliness of living in Rayong. Its a bit too "local", and if you're a single man its even worse.
Rayong is quiet that's for sure but I'm happy in my location, not for everyone. Good luck with your search for your perfect location.
@@RetiredandLivingthedream I'm in the perfect location for what I want now. My colleague lives in Rayong and is going stir crazy there. Each to their own though
To live in the phillipines u need about £1000.00 A MONTH TO LIVE COMFORTABLE.THATS RENT AND FOOD ETC. WHY BE IN UK IN WINTER U SPEND IT ON HEATING .
Your right Les life in the uk is slowly becoming harder. No wonder mental health issues are on the up .
It is had to cope every day when every day is a struggle to survive the credit crunch with no light at the end of the tunnel. Thanks for watching.
Les concentrate on the positives
I am a half glass full person, just comparing the realization of living in the UK if I was to return. Thanks for watching.
H'i Les, that's not ice cream that's Mr whippy rubbish 😢
Lol Pacito was closed. So 2nd choice but was ok.
No wonder so many people are looking to emigrate...The UK is a country with no values, identity and being over run. Everybody is on the make...profit is now a min 300% on EVERYTHING...Inflation has absolutely made everything so expensive. Its NOT a cost of living crisis..ITS A COST OF GREED CRISIS !!!! Foodbanks everywhere with working people using them and kids poverty is a national disgrace. But apart from that it only rains 363 days a year now.
I can't see a way back. But hopefully it can.
@@RetiredandLivingthedream Its too late we have reached the tipping point years ago ....C ..vid ..just exacerbated it. I could say who is to blame and we all know which culture that is.. but there's no such thing as free speech anymore. Another thing the illusion of a free democratic society.
I left the UK in 1980 for Australia and have never been back, probably a wise decision . The second wise decision was to move to Thailand in 2016, no regrets.
Two good choices.
I first went to Thailand in March 2003, and wondered if I'd stepped into a dream. The lifestyle blew me away, and I realized in the UK we'd been sold a lie. I quickly unplugged from the Matrix and decided to move to Thailand permanently late November 2003. I then moved to Malaysia in 2006, and then to Philippines in 2011, following the dive circuit. I pretty much became a beach bum over those years, but loved life. I dived some of the best dive sites in the world, fell recklessly in love with almond eyed beauties, drank sundowners with a motley crew of men and women who grabbed hold of life and refused to let go, and had ZERO regrets about leaving UK. I do return to UK now and then to see family, but I spend as much time as possible out of UK. I guess what surprises me more than anything is how people in UK are prepared to eke out a grim existence in the UK, when they could have a much better QUALITY of life elsewhere. This video reminds me of all the reasons I left, and why, if you want a better life for yourself (and I mean life not existence) don't wait for any UK government to give it to you, just take it...
I have shown many people a new way of life. Long may it last. Good story about your adventure I loved the diving also and learnt in the UK vis in my area was only 1 M crap. Well done.
@CaldonianDude it's not all doom and gloom on uk went back for 6 weeks in April and had a great time in uk walking in snowdonia and peak district, in my teashirt, It was great to go for a walk couldn't do that in thailand for the month before it was over 40 degrees Now back in Thailand can't get out on bike raining for the last 2 weeks but it's warm rain On UA-cam myself micks thai travels check out vlogs from Derbyshire dales really nice Wherever you are just enjoy life
Surprised you managed to find a sunny day to film on, and two days sun in your 12 day visit is very good indeed! I live in Macclesfield and the weather has been foul for months and doesn’t feel like we’ve had a summer yet. Regarding all the cameras etc - I believe the UK has become over-regulated and I realised this when my sister visited from another country and she was frustrated by the UK with all its petty rules and enforcements (specifically smoking laws).
1 1/2 Sunny days in 12days. LOL. It is what it is here. Thanks for watching and taking time to comment.
Sunny bognor yesterday, small 'mr whippy' no 99 cost me £2
On the Bus to Bognor lol
If I'd have known, you could've borrowed me bus pass.😀
Lol thanks.
The person who took a turn probably reacting to the snack bar bill.
I enjoyed seeing someone who lives in Thailand head home for a little while. I use to think the UK was really expensive but I had a shift in my mind with it. Rent can be way over the top and there are silly things like council tax (which we pay for terrible service now) but overall I don't think its no were near as bad as people say. You're just blessed to have a foreign income/pension etc to spend in a cheap country. (ive lived in TH for 4 years) and leaning towards going home more often tbh
Yes I appreciate the income from my pension gives me the opportunity🙏 to live a good life, I would struggle on this amount if I lived in the UK.
It's £6 for 2 cups of coffee in Bangkok too, Les......and in Starbucks in Rayong near you. There is a segment of the market who will pay this much for coffee. I do it myself from time to time but I realise it's an overpriced luxury
No idea how much Starbucks is here but I’m sure much more than Costa coffee.
Im retired. I budget £14 per day for general expenses, which is mostly coffees & food, or £100 a week. I have a bus pass as im 67.
@Lookup2Wakeup you can spend alot more than that in Thailand just on the visa, then there's medical insurance and double that if you have a women in tow
I used my bus pass in uk to go round Derbyshire dales it was great
Hi Les. Thank you for the tour. It seems so sureal compared to here. So orderly and concrete. Gives me yet again an appreciation of the colorful disorder and full of life our streets are in Thailand. And all this for less money. I'm so grateful for my home, community and purpose of life living in The Kingdom.
Hello. had plans to meet you I was in Bangor in Wales and it was a rainy day. couldn't take it anymore and drove south. Nice people but very expensive and bad food.
Good morning from a sunny Redcar today, if your ever up this way I'm here for a couple of months.
Hi Les, im watching your video from my home in Bangkok . I was debating whether or not to return to the UK for a short holiday, but after seeing your video , I think I will give it a miss this year . Take care .
Thanks for watching and taking time to comment. It is more expensive to live here.
Yep dont fella ...dont look over ya shoulder ..keep ya eyes straight ahead ...nothing to see here but a country with no values, identity and being over run. Everybody is on the make...profit is now a min 300% on EVERYTHING...Inflation has absolutely made everything so expensive. Foodbanks everywhere with working people using them and kids poverty is a national disgrace. But apart from that it only rains 363 days a year now.
Get an ice cream from McDonald's Les, about £1.60 for a McFlurry. With regards to van life, the UK simply doesn't have the weather to enjoy van life to the fullest, not like traveling round the US. It's also difficult to find parking, and unless you join a national gym, no shower facility either. The best alternative to an expensive mortgage, is living on a canal boat. Finally, cheers for my allotment mention Les....regards, MrWho 😊
Good morning and thanks for your comment, Got my beetroot today lol. I looked at every option Canal boat Static caravan my touring caravan on a farm site residential park all come with costs so I decided to go all the way and sell everything, A move I have no regrets for.
Ooh Les, great film but, get yourself back here to Thailand chum. That video has made me feel quite depressed. However, best wishes from me here in a warm but rather cloudy, Bang Saray. 😀🇹🇭
Thanks for watching, I'm here for at least 2 months but miss Thailand for sure .Summer here in July was a washout.
@@RetiredandLivingthedream I heard summer hasn’t shown up yet. Try and keep warm and dry! It’ll soon be over! 😀 I’ve worked just outside Redcar many years ago. Photographed one of the huge Chemical plants for the Government. The company had won a National Training Award.
Living in uk if your over 55 and single can be very depressing specially in winter very boring . i am lucky to have a army pension and u can live well on that in the phillipines plus u get rise every year .
I am a xpat i find going back to uk is getting harder every time its like going back in time tv is crap weather is crap going to the pub is boring if u used to bars like here in philippines. Cost off living too high if u have central heating etc cheaper to live abroad . plus more sunshine .
I agree looking outside the box can make a huge difference in your life. Well done and best wishes.
Uk such a shit hole
We all know this lol
I would not go that far but it has changed somewhat in the last 14 years. Hope it can claw it's way back to the good old days if anyone can remember that.
I think its easy to say that and most of us do but in the grand scheme of things when you've been to enough places you start to realise its not that bad really (I guess location dependent)
@andyv7368 NHS is falling to pieces. Cost of living for younger generations will be horrendous. Housing prices almost impossible. Rent crazy expensive. Crime getting out of control. Sorry if I sound rude but uk 🇬🇧 has finally broken.
@@jamescox389 You don't sound rude at all. I think you make valid points but theres always 2 sides to a coin. We ain't the only ones going through that. The working folk of the East and the country we love go through the exact same
Anywhere in the sun is nice, its pretty miserable here in Thailand at the minute plenty of rain cant get on my bike Didn't find prices in uk to bad but you should have gone to wetherspoons for your breakfast think you get a free drink as well Always remember cost of living Thailand 8 pound a day mon wage England 11.45 an hour But get on that bus to whitby and get your fish and chips I'm just singing in the rain
Hi and thanks for the comment, it is what it is, i'm sure some people will think it's cheaper than their country. Look forward to my return.
Retired! Don't Give Up; Good to see you finally had some nice weather and you could take your jacket off, but it didn't look like your ice cream was melting to fast lol. be back in Thailand in 9 days myself can't wait.
Lovely rain here
Best wishes for your return, all of them ducks getting in a row now. Enjoy your reset in Life.🙏
Nice walk about, Les. Enjoy that cone...there will be a luxury tax on it next visit! 😅
Eating food indoors comes with a tax. Crazy. Nice ice cream though.
2 weeks already. Bet it feels longer 555. Don’t forget to buy a crimped for solar cables. Can’t get the one I showed you in Thailand.
Hi thanks for the comment, looking at all options and solar is high on my list. B& Q here I come.
people who seek alternative living like van life, they will start taxing and making it almost expensive to live in a van so we can have more immigrants in 5 star hotels , car and benefits.
Enjoy your trip, stay safe and return asap.
Thanks for that I'm here for at least 2 months but already look forward to my return.
I just been back to my Lancashire home town from Thailand and it is like a war zone, when you passed Yorkshire trading on the high street Redcar took me back to my truck driving days and I would park my truck up for the night in Redcar. I used to deliver to all the Yorkshire trading shops.Just had a week in UK was glad to get to Manchester airport for my flight to Bangkok. Have a nice time.
Fellow truck driver i miss my nights out some were really good
Thanks for watching and taking time to comment, My choice of Airport are the London Airports some GBP 200 cheaper to fly than Newcastle.
Coffee is £3.50 in greater london
Yep Kings Cross 3.50 Thanks for watching.
Good video well done les bet you can't wait go back to Thailand can't wait to retire in Thailand but 58age have to wait for pension from Scott new Zealand
Hi Scot your 100% correct my return to Thailand is at least 2 months away. That is a long time.
@@RetiredandLivingthedream understand les enjoy your video from Scott new Zealand
mate good to see what is happening in the North East, I think its not only Redcar that is depressed you say that of all towns up there. What happened to yellow top ice creams, are they still there? as a kid we would go to Redcar regularly on a weekend, now I wouldn't be going there if I lived in England lol. I think the costs you talk about are at least on a par with Australia, interesting to know what the power charges are there. Anyway mate keep up the good work and won't be too long I hope before you are back in paradise.
Lemon tops are available but I don't like the lemon. Redcar is a big part of my life but when you see what is available there can be a better life outside of Redcar. Thanks for watching.
one of the things i will miss most when living in thailand is seagulls thailand does not have sea gulls , or owls , robin red breast , finches, eagles , red kites , magpies , but ill miss the sea gulls most
They are angry birds, big problems attacking people for food. Whitby also has the same problems. We have some nice song birds in Thailand, many people comment on my video's about the birds in the background. I don't miss the seagulls. But it is a distinctive sound for sure.
The sky looks blue and yes sunshine makes a big difference , and yes everything is so ten times expensive, it is like you are being fleeced right and left, the weather is bad and costs are very high. Les do not drink water from the tap, it is disgusting full of chlorine and fluoride and much more toxins chemicals, and people are paying for water that is not drinkable, how is the water in Thailand, I bet it much better and cleaner and chemicals free also, the tap water here smells of chlorine and cost of water bottles also gone up, you have made a very good decision to leave as everything has gone downhill and worthless, hope your sister gets well soon
Hi and thanks for taking time to watch, the water in Thailand from the taps is not drinkable we always buy the water in but this is very cheap 20 liters for 35 pence Bottled water 1.5 L 20 pence. I made the right choice for me 14 years ago, no regrets.
Trying to enjoy yourself with your family and your wife (if she’s coming to the UK too). You are here for your sister and some important businesses so not for long Les. Best wishes….
My wife remains in Thailand, she does not like flying and also now has time to spend with her family. At least 2 months before my return to Thailand.
Thanks for watching.
I’m in Australia and people ask why go to a “3rd world shithole like Thailand?”. I class the West as the “3rd world shithole” due to the inflated prices (a soft serve cone £2.60!!) unaffordable living and so many rules and restrictions.
Thailand is a great place to live, the so called Western Standards are not what most people are looking for now. The working class struggle in the Western World now. Thanks for taking time to comment.
A notable lack of "integration" les ! Redcar is seemingly not getting its fair share of imigrants like every other uk town, i wish uk imigration was as strict as the thais,....
Thailand rule there immigration better than the UK strict but fair.
Global warming. Another scam. 😂
Plenty of Government scams
Do you really live on £10 a day in Thailand? That must be terrible 😮
My total outgoings last month came to 10k baht. That includes rent, elecy, food, and gas for the motorbike. I also have 8 cats and three dogs. I don't drink or smoke and cook my own meals. I live alone and go short of nothing. I could throw money around and buy all the bullshit that I don't need. I love my life style just the way it is. I've got to admit that it takes a little effort to get out of this consumers world but it was worth every penny of it 😂
All I get to live on each week is £110 and that's all!
We have a good standard of living on this amount, it is totally possible and many people from Thailand would agree. I live on around GBP 1,400 a month and a good lifestyle for this amount. Have a look at my video's you can see the standard.
@@RetiredandLivingthedream I know my maths isn't great but £10 a day doesn't add up to £1400 a month ?
@@farangtravels3956 £10 a day on food in Thailand but with Mortgage electric and everything else is £1,400 £10 a day here in the U.K. is hard.
I have never been to Redcar but I'm sure it's not as bleak as you paint it,cheer up and look on the bright side you could be in London and then the prices really would give you something to moan about
It has always been cheaper up North but the Government for years have neglected to invest in the North well anything past the Watford Gap Redcar is one of the better places to live in the North East but it is slipping in a downward direction.
Yes as someone said to me one day I was up north last week it was great …?? I sad really which part answered Watford gap 😅😅😅ffs
Roll on October 16th
One thing that I would really miss is the wildlife, the sound of Blackbirds and Robins etc in the dawn chorus, feeding the hedgehogs at night and listening to the owls and foxes. The countryside with its spring and autumn colours.
What a valid point but there’s great wildlife in Thailand also far more unusual insects and some loverly birdsongs but I do get your point seeing the blackbirds singing there ❤ out
You are right the dawn chorus especially in the spring and a nice walk through the woods with daffies and bluebells out
I know there is some weird insects I've eat them
@@thaitraveller9756 now you are talking 😀 few and far between a nice spring day mostly grey skies and a nip in the wind
Why not have the best of both worlds, spring / summer in the UK, autumn / winter in SE Asia 🤷
Do you have an Aldi store where you are , if so you should get your Beetroot from their Les , Big Jars and not expensive too 👍
We do at Address: Larkswood Rd, Redcar TS10 4SD
Aldi is getting built in Redcar now so within a year it should be open.
