    Is the head pushing mandatory or optional? Could make all the difference between charming offshoot twist to a level and boring and slow part.

    thats really interesting, its simillar to the approach of kaze, a guy making a mario 64 rom hack and before he designs a new level, he would model a small thing to test the visuals before the level design

    I think you're missing a trick by using paper and card as your world by not having pop-up book like scenery and levels that you can enter after they pop open or some such. You almost went for that with the room that popped and opened extending its depth, but to me, your game just screams out that pop open/up paper elements are missing.

    Fook yeah!! Awesome progress man 💪 I hope you tweak the lighting or post processing a bit to amp up the colors. Dunno if it's the black AO or so but there's this black/grey dull vibe on top of your colorful fun theme that makes it look a bit dirty. Best of luck! EDIT: I think you improved it in the last minute of the video? Spoke too soon 😆 Still I think the playful colors could pop some more somehow

    I played the demo and loved it! I'm just hoping you don't get carried away and add more complexity to the game which is what happens to a lot of games. I value simplicity. I also really hate minigames like in Spyro 2 & 3 and Banjo Kazooie. Just give me a checklist of collectibles and let me explore till I find them all! I played Cavern of Dreams recently but when it got to Prismic Palace the icy level, it got too difficult for me. Also the Nightmare level was too hard for me. A game stops being relaxing and fun when the difficulty ramps up. Also keeping it simple opens the game up to kids who may struggle with harder games. And many adults just want a simple easy fun game to escape the real world once in a while. Anyway, looking forward to the next demo!

    Hey mate, I'm making a 3d platformer game as well, I like how my charcater moves, but I'm really struggling to make any levels. Like, I don't know where to start making the level. I have some ideas, but I can't go farther with them. It's a head problem not skill.

    • @WhyKev
      @WhyKev 3 місяці тому

      I'd look up Game Makers Tool Kit where they go through level design on Mario 3D Worlds. It's quite interesting and might help you on the way. Sure it's linear levels and might not be what you're into but in this case it could be what you need to get going. Or is it visuals? Look at other games and see if you can be inspired, your result will probably not look like their in the end anyway. Best of luck!

    • @sashabagdasarow497

      @@WhyKevthanks. It's the structure of the level itself, like, placement of platforms and stuff like that. I'll look into gmtk

    I'm not sure how fun it'll be, but it looks really good. It feels like it will be a real, full game. I love all the ideas you have for different areas, and the voice acting seems great. I do want to say, based just on the looks in the video, the book area is nice. But feels a bit too flat. Like they all look and feel like the same book, just with different color covers. And the book towers feel a bit too neat. Little Nightmares does something similar, and you can certainly see where it repeats here and there. But it also feels more varied. If you weren't slowly analyzing it, you might not notice the repeating books in it. It also might be neat to have a couple more sets of googly eyes as well. Or at least some happy/excited eyes. Just to give them a little personality.

    • @WhyKev
      @WhyKev 3 місяці тому

      I really appreciate this comment! Sure I hope the game will be fun! :) Currently I'm focusing on getting everything playable and then go over the levels and iterate on level design and details once it's more finalized :) So I hope to make the book forest more interesting since it will be one of the earlier favorite levels of mine in the game :)

    I can't believe when I read "El Dorado" my first thought went to the cheap and shitty food brand and not the City of Gold. But this area looks great, if a bit less like the crafted world esthetics. What if the shield is like a metal bottle cap? Feels like a metal object would make it clear that you can't pierce through.

    Hey man! I’ve watched a few of your devlogs. I don’t know why, but I feel like paper aesthetic would go with enemies that made out of inflatable material. Like, the reason why they have a shield is because they’re protecting themselves from getting popped. Would also allow for a one hit kill mechanic if that’s what you’re going for. Keep it up. 👊🏻

    This game looks really promising, but to be honest the levels look a bit lifeless, maybe add stuff like vegetation, insects and creatures, etc? Perhaps even some weather effects for some levels. I realize that might not be what you're going for with the "paper craft clay" theme, but there might be ways of incorporating those things to fit with the surroundings. Also, if you're not yet planning on adding enemies, you might wanna reconsider, as it might get a bit boring just exploring and platforming.

    • @WhyKev
