Wow can't believe 2 years have gone by! The game has grown an incredible amount. Looking forward to seeing more!
It's wild actually. Thank you so much Thomas! :D
What a unique design ❤❤❤.
6:40 Absolutely gorgeous.
Man, this is just unbelievably good. As someone who has been chipping away at a game for probably about a year now, and who has made about 1/10 the progress you have, your game is incredibly inspiring. I love hearing anything you have to say about game dev, programming tips, inspirations, your techniques and things you've learned along the way, etc. Great job, man. Seriously impressive.
That really makes me happy to hear! I see my own growth more clearly now and I'm proud of where I am.
I really hope you're having fun on your game, no matter how fast you make progress! :)
This looks insane for two years and working a normal job!
It might be very fast if I stop and think about it!
Love the art direction! Inspiring stuff.
Many thanks, took some time to get where we are today!
I came across this on Twitter when you’d posted about the gravity update. It’s a really charming game and I’m wishing you great success.
Found your channel and watched all videos in the past few days. Great work!
Wow, really amazing devlog. Thanks for sharing. Can't wait to play!
Liked and subscribed! The game looks pretty good))
I love the art style and concept👀 I can't wait to play it when it's out! And will be keeping up with any updates of from the channel! Keep up the phenomenal work!!!
This has been such a wonderful journey! Love to see it recapped like this Kev, and I cant wait to see more :)
This looks amazing man, awesomely done so far and keep up the great work!
I’m really impressed by what I’m seeing it looks so fun.
It's amazing to see all the progress in 1 video. This game is looking fantastic and I wish you luck finishing it!
It looks soooo good! I love the walking animation so much 💙
fantastically well built. The design seems very very well implemented. Great Work Bud
This video is my introduction to you and this game. This is absolutely beautiful; I'm so excited to have fun playing this!
Visually quite appealing!
Love the art style!
I love the Aesthetics of your game!❤
The game looks awesome! Keep the hard work🦾
❤❤ amazing prototype! Continue the good work! 🎉
Inspiring! I like the idea of having linear levels inside of 'hub' levels. Looking forward to seeing how the hole gameplay loop(s) feels!
Wow i was one of your first twitch viewers and then i didnt watch you any more and now youtube suggest me this! Great job
I logged in here just to say im wishlisted, impressed, and goddamn HYPE! What an awesome game im def buying this! Keep up the awesome work!
Game looks awesome. Excited for the full release!
Always a pleasure to watch the progress :). Thanks for your hard work! Already in my wishlist, can't wait for the release
Very glad to hear that! :)
There are a lot of youtube gamedevs around here, but damn you are talented and focused. Great job, it inspires me !
Looks very cool and cozy. I wish you luck with the game. Wishlisted.
Love the updates dude, happy 2 years! Your game has really bloomed!
Big thanks friend! I didn't think it would look like this when I started :D
This game looks and feels amazing! Love the art style!
I'm so impressed by your progress and creativity. Very inspiring for someone who is still in the early stages of development. It's cool that the game is in a fully playable state now, even if some of it is gray box. It must feel good to be at that point in development. I can't wait to play it!
Great progress! Your game actually reminded me of the movie Chicken little, and also the game of it I used to play.
Looks absolutely beautiful!
Thanks for sharing, you continue to inspire. Great progress.
Many thanks!! :)
I've been following your progress on the game since you started posting about it on Twitter, and I'm very happy to find out you have a devlog!
Oh and the voices are super funny, I love it!
haha thank you for following along this journey! Glad that you like the voices!
very beautiful art work and I am really inspired by your work.
That really makes me happy to hear! Thank you!
It's been so fun to follow along these past 2 years. You should be really proud of what you've accomplished already. Excited to see more😁
Appreciate it a lot friend, I've felt a few times that I'm happy with the point I've reached but this time I feel like I've reached a point where I can really release a 3D game.
You have made insane progress since the first demo level. Happy to see and your drive is really inspiring
Appreciate it friend! Glad to inspire others!
Loved seeing it coming together and that too so beautifully. Can’t wait to play this and very excited for the launch. 🚀 all the best friend
Honestly thank you! I'm excited to get it fully finished one day!
Looks Great & most importantly FUN to play! ❤
Fantastic dude! This game is really looking great.
Thank you so much!!
Really inspiring, loved your game and your tips. I also understand now that I won't make my dream game in a few months, considering that I just started making baby steps testing different game engines! 😂
This game looks gorgeous! Keep the work going well done!
Appreciate it! I for sure will do that!
Yaaaay new devlog , love your content ❤
haha thank you! Makes me very happy!
Fantastic video! Cant believe its been 2 years, look how far you and the game has come, you should be proud! Would love to try the game again at some point, to compare it to the demo i played 👀
Also Kellen Goff has been in My Hero, Fire Force and Black Clover! Wow!! You've got an insane talent!
This art style is so cool. I can't wait to play it
This looks like its going to be great!
Amazing to see how far you've come with the game! 🎉
Thank you so much friend! :D
Just a small note for the animated text plugin you're using: I would suggest lowering the size of the pop in on the typewriter. Reading the text is very distracting, especially if all the text in the game appears in that way.
But great job! 2 years of work and it looks great!
Totally agree with you! It's a bit much for now! Thank you so much Orionhart! :)
I'm seeing this for the first time. The aesthetic is great, you've done a really good job!
Well done. I look forward to seeing how it ends up
Glad to have you here now! Thank you!
very nice, good job!
that's really impressive the game is shaping up to be a great experience the game vibes definitely remind me of little big planet so nostalgic, keep up the good work
That a really good thing Mike! I really appreciate it!
Very cool! Wish you all the best. Came looks cool! :)
Thank you so much! :)
Amazing to hear! Can’t wait to play it :)
Fook yeah!! Awesome progress man 💪
I hope you tweak the lighting or post processing a bit to amp up the colors. Dunno if it's the black AO or so but there's this black/grey dull vibe on top of your colorful fun theme that makes it look a bit dirty. Best of luck!
EDIT: I think you improved it in the last minute of the video? Spoke too soon 😆 Still I think the playful colors could pop some more somehow
AMAZING GAME KEEP THE HARD WORK
Oh wow! This game looks amazing!
i love this game development, keep up the goo work!
Many thanks! I will :D Can't stop!
the game looks so good i love the art
This game looks amazing bro, I am excited to play this😃
I really appreciate that!!
This looks great!
Thank you mildsoup!
Would be interesting to see more of those workflow improvement techniques. Really impressive.
Here is a previous video where I talk more about it, hope you find something useful :D ua-cam.com/video/ZyblJsNdSdM/v-deo.html
Loving the aesthetic, just wishlisted.
This looks so good! how did I not find you and this game.
Better late than never Joshua! Glad that you've found me :D
Really, you only took 2 years while working full time job to create this beautiful game? Amazing. Huge props. Not gonna lie, if I was a kid, I would play this game instantly. It reminds me of old platforming classics such as Croc, Gex, Kao, Crash or Rayman but much more cozy and less wacky.
Man time really flies, 2 years of progress is already here! Loved seeing it all come together tho. And I gotta say that gravity update feels SO much nicer. Makes me want to play as paper klay even more now
It's crazy how fast time goes sometimes! Yeah the gravity is a big learning thing for me now, never going back haha..
So amusing to see this game unfold💥
Great job!
Thanks Luke!
Love the look of this. Looks like it's ideal for the Switch 🤞
amazing job
Hi, I really enjoy your video’s and do want to play the game when it’s finished. The book forest look very cool and spooky. Maybe it would be cool if some of the stacks move and after a while you figure out it is a book snake. With a book as a mouth. Keep up the good work!!
I've actually had thoughts of book worms moving around!
Wow this looks very interesting 🎉🎉🎉
Looks like the game tearaway! Pretty cool man!
I love that game, it's one of the biggest visual inspirations!
@@WhyKev yeah me too! You really nailed the art style! I'll be sure to check it out when it releases!
I have a suggestion about Blinky's talking animation, I think you should make him talk more crazily like how a child would make a puppet flap its mouth randomly but overall this game looks amazing
That's a good idea Luigi! I will take that with me when I go over the animation!
This game looks awesome, keep it up
Appreciate it! Thanks :)
Looks so good!
Finally reached a point where I think some parts are final, or at least very very close to final.
It's already been 2 years! Crazy! I can't wait for release.
It's wild when you think about it! :D Thanks for being there from the start as support!
Looking forward to seeing it featured on Best Indie Gaming, and letting my son try it out. Take all the time you need.
haha let's hope it ends up there!
yooo new devlog!! lets go
Here we are, probably the best week of the year so far!
I like that the graphics in later levels and further in development have much more color and vibrancy! It makes it feel like a hand crafted paper world!
hehe good! It's been a process of understanding colours more as I got further with the project!
Anticipating the release!!!
So am I, very much!
Can't wait to see where the game goes!
I'll do what I can to make it the best I've created. Then the audience will take it from there :)
Wish I would've found this game sooner! Definitely wishlists.
On a positive note, you won't have to wait as long as others :D
Your game looks amazing!
Imagine if the characters' animations matched their voice lines. Like, if they sound sad, the character looks sad, and vice versa for happy moments. I get it might take some effort, but it could make the game even cooler when you're fine-tuning things. Just a thought! 😊
Very true! I hope to work through some stuff and then go over smaller stuff like that. It's on my list at least!
I love this!
Thank you mr clean!
a cool idea for the sock puppet is to hve him peek out of holes so it sems like a hand and that he is connected through th entire map
This looks sweet. Seems like something all ages can pick up. I do hope you plan for a GoG release though, I don't care for using steam too much.
The goal is that almost all ages (+10 age) should be able to pick it up. I haven't planned for a GoG version but I can look into it.
@@WhyKev - Awesome!
Getting closer!
One devlog at a time :D
Hope this gets on steam :O
It will :)
Game looks really good
@9:03 it looks like your blanket-glider is off by 90 degrees IF it's supposed to be catching the wind.
I played the demo and loved it! I'm just hoping you don't get carried away and add more complexity to the game which is what happens to a lot of games. I value simplicity. I also really hate minigames like in Spyro 2 & 3 and Banjo Kazooie. Just give me a checklist of collectibles and let me explore till I find them all! I played Cavern of Dreams recently but when it got to Prismic Palace the icy level, it got too difficult for me. Also the Nightmare level was too hard for me. A game stops being relaxing and fun when the difficulty ramps up. Also keeping it simple opens the game up to kids who may struggle with harder games. And many adults just want a simple easy fun game to escape the real world once in a while. Anyway, looking forward to the next demo!
HELL YEAH! im so pumped
Me too!!
This looks incredible!! Honestly really good. May i ask you for advice for a beginner? Im actually doing the course of C# from Codecademy. Just trying to learn the basics because i couldn´t learn anything with the Tutorial Hell that i´ve been through. I really wanna make a "dream game" or at least a good game that i love and not just a replica of Snake, or Pacman etc. My idea is to start with a prototype very basic and through time, go adding little new stuff that i learn on the process. Any tips?? or how did you manage to make your first game in short words?
First off, thank you! So my advice have often been "Make small games" and it's totally up to you if you'd want to do that but the main purpose I say that is so you can know about the whole process of finishing a game and getting it out there. Getting feedback and iterate on it. If you make a bunch of smaller games or prototypes you'll be able to try new things faster. My first 1.5 years of learning to code I made about 40-50 prototypes (it was maybe 2 smaller games due to intense school at the time) but this allowed me to learn new things over a weekend, for example I tried to learn how to make an Angry Birds clone one weekend, in the end it was mostly the aim part that worked but I learn that part. Then another weekend I was tinkering with a 2D platformer where I learned how to attack enemies in front of me by adding them to a list and looping through and deal damage. Small things that in the big picture helped.
For me it helps to break down the tasks to get small wins, see that I'm making progress. So small prototypes or smaller games help me achieve that. I've learned the most by listening to peoples feedback when playing my games or seeing them.
Are you able to make a very small version of your "dream game"? As a test, could you make a 15 minute gameplay version of your dream game and then release it for free to see what the audience think? Then build upon that? I really hope this helps as I tend to ramble on, best of luck with your game! :)
You are incredible, thank you very much @@WhyKev
I'm not sure how fun it'll be, but it looks really good. It feels like it will be a real, full game. I love all the ideas you have for different areas, and the voice acting seems great.
I do want to say, based just on the looks in the video, the book area is nice. But feels a bit too flat. Like they all look and feel like the same book, just with different color covers. And the book towers feel a bit too neat. Little Nightmares does something similar, and you can certainly see where it repeats here and there. But it also feels more varied. If you weren't slowly analyzing it, you might not notice the repeating books in it. It also might be neat to have a couple more sets of googly eyes as well. Or at least some happy/excited eyes. Just to give them a little personality.
I really appreciate this comment! Sure I hope the game will be fun! :) Currently I'm focusing on getting everything playable and then go over the levels and iterate on level design and details once it's more finalized :) So I hope to make the book forest more interesting since it will be one of the earlier favorite levels of mine in the game :)
This reminds me a lot of Tearaway... and that's a VERY GOOD thing (that game is seriously underappreciated and this continues its papercraft setting).
GOOD, I love Tearaway so much! :D
I love how each mechanic came out of a place of curiosity, rather than forcing it to work. How indie dev should be
Hehe yeah, but later on it can sure look like I just grabbed features from other games (of course it was partially inspired by them to start trying)
@@WhyKev hi, just a question, did you get hacked?
@@bloggy6465 Yes, I'm working on getting stuff back. Discord and personal twitter is not in my control.
@@WhyKev alright i hope you are able to sort it out and i hope you are good the reason i know is on vimlarks stream you sent him a well known scam message in a wierd way
Hopefully it pays off going to need a lot of sales to break even on time spent, good luck
Ooh, the cave should be like a customizable base or something (with special furniture collectable lol)
haha that would've been fun!
Great video...did you use visual?
Visual? I'm not sure I know what you mean hehe..
