Well I’ve driven past that lake many’s the time on my way from Leitrim to Mayo but I never thought to take a walk around it. Thanks for opening my eyes to the beautiful nature of this place.
I'm fortunate to live near Lough Talt.. beautiful spot in the Ox mountains.. beautiful mountains for various walks including this one and Lough Easkey.
Very good advice at the end, fair play to you Graham. Sligo is one of the most beautiful counties in Ireland and often overlooked, I've done countless videos on that. Lovely hike and great views, keep up the good work my man.
When you came through the stile past the ruin , you were wise with the hip and knee to turn back. Had you gone on, you would walk a short distance along the road to the church on the hill, up that road a good bit and turn right onto the new track along the hillside ..its well signed and there's a car park space beside it. The track follows along through woodland and open territory above the road til it descends to the road almost opposite the turn in to where you parked your car for this walk. That section would be a separate long enough walk for you to do sometime given your hip and knee situations.. but it is also lovely.

Nice pictures
Nice strains of Boolavogue there. The inimitable Barney McKenna of The Dubliners played a great instrumental version.
