    I'd love it if there was some kind of function that let you hover over a block and repaint every block on the grid with the same color and skin all at once. For example, if i want to repaint my speeder bike, I could just hold down a key combo and repaint every block that is red with the retro future skin to some other color, while leaving the bits that are grey with no skin alone.

      There already is! On PC, just hold Ctrl+Shift+MMB to paint the entire grid. It's really easy do by mistake. You can paint a large area with CTRL+MMB, and then you press shift to run, and accidentally repaint your entire grid, so be careful! EDIT: I just saw that you wanted to fill the same colour. That would be awesome! Consider making a suggestion on the Keen Software House website

    why does this game label hydrogen as H2 instead of H? I know a lot of things are simplified for game-play reasons, but it's bugging me why they added an extra 2.

    • @GleebTorin
      @GleebTorin 4 місяці тому

      Hydrogen atoms are most stable when they share electrons in pairs. Since each hydrogen atom only has one electron, they naturally pair up with another hydrogen atom to form H₂, which is the most common form of hydrogen you'll find. So, while a single hydrogen atom is represented as H, the hydrogen gas used in the game (and in real life) is actually made up of these H₂ molecules.

    I don't know if this is due to a re-balance that Keen did or what, but that 1.25% threshold for the Hydrogen tanks equaling out to 3 million liters of stored hydrogen is no longer the case; I apply the same settings to my tank monitoring event controller, and what I end up storing is a total of 750,008L between all 4 tanks It's only when I increase the desired threshold of each tank to 5% that I get 3 million liters (3,000,032L, to be precise). Genuinely trying to be helpful here, because your napkin math was off by a factor of 4.

    • @GleebTorin
      @GleebTorin 6 місяців тому

      Hey Chozo! Thanks so much for reaching out to me, making sure that information is correct is an important endeavour, so I appreciate the effort. That said, I'm confident that the maths checks out. One Large Grid Large Hydrogen Tank can contain 15,000,000 litres of hydrogen. The base has 4 tanks, and so can contain 60,000,000 litres. 3,000,000 is 5% of 60,000,000. Divide 3,000,000 and 5% by 4, as we're splitting this across 4 tanks, and you get 750,000 and 1.25%. If you were checking this out in vanilla, with the original starting multipliers, then this should hold true. When looking at the statistics in the control panel, bear in mind that it doesn't show grid-wide totals, only what's in that block, which could give the appearance of the math being off by 4, as we're splitting the contents across 4 tanks. Again, thanks for raising this, it's good to see people making sure that the right info is out there, I really appreciate it.

    • @ChozoSR388
      @ChozoSR388 6 місяців тому

      @@GleebTorinYeah, see, that's the thing; I'm running the world all default settings, no mods. and when I run the Event Controller at a 1.25% threshold, each tank caps out (at 1.25%) with only ~187.5kL. That's why I mentioned the potential of another re-balance. I had to bump the threshold up to 5% to get the desired 750kL per tank.

    • @ChozoSR388
      @ChozoSR388 6 місяців тому

      @@GleebTorinActually, I think I see where the problem lies here; where 3,000,000L IS indeed 5% of 60,000,000L, and 1.25% of 60,000,000L is indeed 750,000L, 750,000L is ALSO 5% of 15,000,000. So, while it may be 1.25% of 60 million, it's actually 5% of 15 million, which is the target threshold for each tank. 1.25% of each tank is only 187,500L. So, even though your math is correct, unintuitively, you still have to multiply by 4 for the smaller volume of each tank to get the 1.25% for the larger volume of the total of all the tanks. Long story short, the threshold is both 1.25% of the total volume _and_ 5% of each individual tank. Edited for legibility.

    • @GleebTorin
      @GleebTorin 6 місяців тому

      @@ChozoSR388 Exactly so! That's why I divide by 4 in my original calculations. 🤓

    • @ChozoSR388
      @ChozoSR388 6 місяців тому

      @@GleebTorinRight, but you have to set the threshold to 5% in the Event Controller, or you only get a quarter of the 3 million liters you're expecting. That's the point I've been trying to make; you have to set the threshold to 5%, not 1.25%, because even though you and I both know that 750,000 is 1.25% of 60,000,000, the Event controller assumes you mean 1.25% of 15,000,000 even when AND is checked, because it looks at the volume of each tank. not the combined total volume of all the tanks. Basically, it doesn't see 60,000,000 like you or I would because all 4 tanks are selected, it sees 4 instances of 15,000,000. So, you have to use the percentage you want each tank filled to, not the percentage of the total volume, which in this case, 5% of 15,000,000 is 750,000, so the threshold is 5%, not 1.25% of 60,000,000, which, even though that IS the same number, it's not what the Event Controller is looking for.

    I just started playing this game in February 2024 on my old rickety ps4 and im already in kove with it. Albeit that I'm a novice and only have the basics down. I am very excited to get a better understanding of the intriqitue mechanics of this game. I've been itching for a game like this since the first time i played Kerbals. I kove designing and engineering in games, maybe uts in my blood. My father is a retired mechanical engineer with approx. 50 years experience. Whilst my mother was a gifted artist. So i was very blessed for my genetic traits. Where artistry and engineeringnhave been figuratively and literally married into one. So with that said, I cannot wait until I understand the mechanics of this game. The things I'm already envisioning in my head I am excited to bring them to life! So, I appreciate people who make videos like this. Thank you for the time and effort, I subscribed and will be watching all your stuff, keep up the great work!

      It's great to see people getting into the game. If ever you have questions, I'm sure that the community can find an answer, but the best part of Space Engineers is trying to figure it out for yourself. Fly safe!

    Is there any way to change the increment on 'increase maximum distance' for the drill? Mine seems to just jump from 0 to 10 when it triggers.

    That paint gun doesn't work. I did what the description told me to do and nothing is there anywhere. I see this being painted in the video but it won't work for me. The details were passed over and the painting started.

    My mother is a senior computer programmer. I'll pass on trying to explain this to her. xP

      To be honest, I feel like my programming skills are what let me understand it so easily.

      @@GleebTorin Definitely were, lawls. I'm a certified mental health specialist. ;) These things to me are just space magic. I did figure out the event controller though. I wanted 2 lights (actually I wanted 1 light, but the PS5 is limited.) 2 lights, one is green, the other is red. I wanted the connector status to be the determining factor; when connected the light is red, when unconnected the light is green. Connected: The port is blocked; do not fly in to use it. Unconnected: The port is open, fly in to dock. I figured when I can figure it all out I could make a better landing port (space station) and have it dedicated for each area, at least 4 docking stations. (and got to figure out how to use the piston to extend to a connector, then lock to the ship, then set it to either drain - trade - refueling.) ^That's a lot of space magic to me. xD But I love survival type games where I can build (oxygen not included, for example) plus it helps me practice the metric system (Imperial ftw, no regrets.) And I get to learn some new skill sets. But C++ and whatnot.. I'mma have to pass on that one. :x Even if writing scripts does look cool enough to learn.

    The first tip was unnecessarily obvious, the last one unnecessary at all. Just add a sensor for friendly humans to turn off the welder. Anyway, I hope there are more videos like this.

      ...but how can you laugh as your friends if they don't roast themselves with a welder wall? :P

      @@GleebTorin Because I play SE only with my Wife and if she's getting roasted by a Welder and I dare to laugh, I'm gonna have a baaaaaad time. True Story.

    how have i never noticed the extra slots of the event controller lol, i’ve been using timers because i can trigger multiple blocks with a single button press instead of creating 1 event controller per block/group

    • @GleebTorin

      They don't exactly scream that those slots are there, to be fair. I had to be told that they were there before i made this video.
