    🙌🙌🙌 yet sometimes there´s resistance to acceptance b/c with acceptance there is also truth coming... the truth of things that can be painful

    • @MovementMonk
      @MovementMonk 5 днів тому

      You’ve touched on something so real here-acceptance can bring us face-to-face with truths we may have been avoiding, and that can feel deeply painful. Resistance is natural; it’s the mind and body’s way of protecting us from what feels overwhelming. But within that pain, there’s also potential for freedom. When we allow ourselves to sit with the truth, even when it’s uncomfortable, it opens the door to healing and growth. Acceptance isn’t about forcing yourself to be okay with everything-it’s about giving yourself permission to feel and be with what is, without judgment. Take it one step at a time. The truth can be heavy, but you don’t have to carry it all at once. 🙏

    Muscle has memory. I take it a step further. I believe the trauma gets trapped in the very tissues of the body. I'm now working to free myself. Good video.

    • @MovementMonk
      @MovementMonk 5 днів тому

      Absolutely, you're spot on! Trauma often leaves an imprint in the tissues, not just the mind. The body holds onto these experiences until we consciously work to release them, which is why practices like somatic movement and breathwork can be so transformative. It’s inspiring that you’re on this journey to free yourself-keep going, one mindful step at a time. You’re doing powerful work! 🙏 And thank you for the kind words about the video-glad it resonated with you.

    Great insight into the real way to start “chronic” and “degenerative” diseases 🙏 It’s like your car needing maintenance from time to time to keep it healthy and smooth 🚗

    • @MovementMonk
      @MovementMonk 5 днів тому

      Absolutely! That’s such a great analogy-just like a car needs regular maintenance to run smoothly, our bodies need consistent care to stay healthy and balanced. Chronic and degenerative issues often develop when those little "check engine lights" get ignored over time. The good news is, just like with a car, regular movement, mindfulness, and intentional practices can keep everything running smoothly-or even reverse some wear and tear! Thanks for sharing your insight 🙏🚗 Keep up the good work!

    I feel such strong resistance to completely dropping the more "yang" type of exercises in my life. I know that you're right, and that to deal with this chronic hip pain requires gentleness, kindness, sensitivity and care. But I feel that I rely on harder training as a crutch to deal with this mad life. I will keep listening and adjusting, and will avoid any exercises that flare up pain. But I can't seem to just "let go" of all the harder stuff (weight lifting and gymnastic rings). I'm going to try compromise with my Ego: keep up some weight training that doesn't hurt, and expand and learn more about the somatic approach to healing. It's crazy to me how difficult it is to let go of hard training and I hope compromise is a sensible approach!

    • @MovementMonk
      @MovementMonk 21 день тому

      Thank you for sharing this-I can deeply relate to what you’re experiencing. Years ago, I was in the same place, feeling that pull to keep up with intense, hard training as a way of grounding myself. The idea of letting go of that “yang” approach was unsettling, like losing a part of my identity. But over time, I started to realize that I wasn’t really letting go of strength-I was just learning to express it in a new way. I remember compromising, too, by keeping up some strength work that felt good and didn’t cause pain, while slowly opening myself to gentler, more somatic practices. It was surprising to discover that this approach didn’t weaken me; in fact, it made me feel more resilient and connected, both in body and mind. As you keep listening and adjusting, trust that you’re still on a strong path-one that honors where you’re at and allows you to evolve. I’m here to support you however I can on this journey.

    I really appreciate how you speak about all of this. I’ve studied this for a few years now as I’ve attempted to integrate an ayahuasca experience that threw me into dysregulation. That feeling of complete chaos in the body has led me to feeling extremely suicidal for almost two years. Just out of control and without agency. I appreciate the gentle reminder we do have agency. Thank you. Healing is so scary. But possible.

    • @MovementMonk
      @MovementMonk Місяць тому

      It’s understandable that such profound experiences can leave us feeling untethered, especially when the nervous system is thrown into dysregulation. Healing from that place of chaos can feel overwhelming, but as you said, it’s possible. Rebuilding that sense of agency, even in the smallest ways, can be the key to grounding and re-centering yourself. It’s often about taking things one step at a time-whether through breathwork, somatic practices, or simply reconnecting with the body in gentle ways. Please know that you’re not alone on this journey. With continued patience, self-compassion, and small, intentional actions, the path toward balance becomes clearer. I’m grateful that the message resonated with you, and if there’s anything more I can offer to support your process, don’t hesitate to reach out.

      Thank you for sharing such a deeply vulnerable moment. It’s incredibly brave to face that grief and offer yourself such a tender gesture of compassion. Being with the deep sadness of trauma can feel overwhelming, but it’s also a powerful step toward healing. I’m grateful that this felt right for you in the moment. Remember to be gentle with yourself as you move through these emotions-it’s a process, and each step of self-compassion helps release what’s been held inside for so long. If you need any support along the way, know that you’re not alone. Thank you for allowing this space to be part of your healing journey.

    • @MovementMonk
      @MovementMonk Місяць тому

      Thank you for sharing your experience. It sounds like your body is doing a lot of important processing, and sometimes those emotional releases can come back unexpectedly. It’s great that you turned to yin yoga to help move through it-gentle, mindful practices like that can be so effective for releasing stored emotions and soothing the nervous system. If you find these moments coming up again, you might also want to incorporate some grounding techniques or breathwork to further support your nervous system in those times. It’s all part of the healing process, and listening to your body’s signals, like you did, is a powerful way to support yourself. Keep going, and be gentle with yourself!

    Divine wisdom. To get free of our central default mode bit of fix-it brain & receive the Unknown, untamed, real felt sense of another person or animal , is a shamanlike offering. We are trained to avoid discomfort & the unknown, like they're gonna kill us. They are reality, in an unknown vast universe, our minds dressed in mud & rocks, not in control of much.

    • @MovementMonk
      @MovementMonk Місяць тому

      Beautifully said, and it resonates so deeply. The way we’re conditioned to avoid discomfort and the unknown often keeps us locked in that “fix-it” mindset, missing the raw and untamed reality that surrounds us. When we allow ourselves to step into that space of receiving-the unknown and the felt sense of others-it can be such a powerful and healing experience, almost like returning to our natural, more instinctive selves. It’s a practice of surrender, embracing the vastness of life without the need to control it. Thank you for sharing this insight-it’s a profound reminder of what lies beyond the familiar boundaries of the mind.

    • @MovementMonk
      @MovementMonk Місяць тому

      Hey Jasna! It’s important not to ignore your weak core and hip-supporting muscles, but rather, approach strengthening them with patience and care. Instead of pushing through discomfort, focus on gentle, progressive exercises that engage your core without overwhelming your system. Trust that, over time, consistent practice will help build the support you need. Breathing may feel difficult now, but as your muscles strengthen, you’ll find it easier to breathe and move with more stability. Just listen to your body and take it one step at a time!

    Hey together, thanks for your expressions. I understand the different points by themselve. But, for expample, point 1 is about appreciate what is and expand it (like the stuckness or pain) and at point 2 there is the focus more on what I really want and where my body feels good. Is there not a contradiction between them? Just want to understand them right. Thanks☀️

      @@seppsepplinger7454 great question… the core practice here is acceptance of our experience and not being in resistance to it… this creates more stress. The second to supporting us to align to the reality and experience we want to create, from a place of wholeness, rather than fear or lack. I hope that is helpful 🙏

      @MovementMonk agreed, and what's more it directly contributes to the heavy stuff. I know a Kung fu practitioner who never touched weights but did tons of horse stance and he was able to hit a double bodyweight backsquat almost immediately when he started barbell training. What sorts of programming have you done with it?

    • @MovementMonk
      @MovementMonk Місяць тому

      @@matthewhawke8902 yep, it highlights the power of being able to move force through our whole structure. I've done lots of different programming for horse stance from daily extended holds, to weighted, to contract and relax, to hypoxic breath training in horse stance, with other flexibility training to refine position... but nothing really beats consistency, focus and awareness accumulated through practicing horse stance over time... It's not pretty, and it's tough, but this is what really works in my experiences

    I feel extremely tight, like I don’t get in much air before I feel a pretty intense stretch. When I inhale and start to move around, it actually makes me uncomfortable and gag. 12:07

    • @MovementMonk
      @MovementMonk Місяць тому

      Thank you for sharing your experience. It sounds like there’s a lot of tension in your body that’s making it difficult to fully engage with your breath and movement. That discomfort and gagging sensation can sometimes happen when there’s a lot of tightness or stored emotion in the body that’s starting to release. I’d suggest starting with very small, gentle movements and breaths-nothing too intense. Even just focusing on softening your breath without moving much at first could help ease the tension gradually. It’s okay to take it slow and listen to your body’s signals, especially when things feel uncomfortable. If it continues to feel overwhelming, pausing and grounding yourself might help you regain some comfort before you continue. You’re doing important work by tuning in like this, so honor the process and go at your own pace. Let me know if you’d like any specific guidance on this!

    Started kung fu a month ago - Can confirm the flexibility these exercises gives for stiff hips and chronic lower back pain caused by office work. 2 x 1,5 hours sessions of training gave me more flexibility and pain reduction, than all the handed out exercises I have got from several physiotherapists during the years, but you need someone experienced to guide and adjust you or you will not do these probably and not gain the level of results you can. Especially to maintain a flat foot on the floor without lifting the heel is extremely difficult, but is one key point to get right to maximize your flexibility gains.

    • @MovementMonk
      @MovementMonk Місяць тому

      That’s amazing to hear, and I completely agree! Kung fu can be incredibly effective for building flexibility and reducing pain, especially when practiced under skilled guidance. It’s interesting how sometimes traditional practices like this can go deeper into movement patterns that other approaches might miss. The point you made about keeping the heel flat on the floor is so important-it engages the entire kinetic chain and can really unlock deeper flexibility, especially in the hips and lower back. Having someone experienced to guide and adjust makes all the difference, as it helps ensure you’re moving in alignment and getting the full benefit from the practice. Keep up the great work, and it’s awesome that you’re seeing such positive results!

    Is all breath exercises is like qigong?

    • @MovementMonk
      @MovementMonk Місяць тому

      Great question! While breath exercises in practices like Qigong and other modalities often share some similarities, they aren’t all exactly the same. Qigong breathwork focuses on cultivating and circulating energy (Qi) throughout the body, often combining breath with slow, flowing movements to support balance and health. Other breath exercises, like those used in yoga, pranayama, or modern breathwork techniques, may have different goals-such as calming the nervous system, increasing oxygen flow, or energizing the body. Each practice uses breath in unique ways depending on its purpose, but at their core, many breath exercises help connect the body and mind, just like in Qigong. If you’re interested in Qigong-style breathing, you might enjoy exploring how it feels compared to other breath practices! Let me know if you’d like more info on specific techniques.
