Endangered Native Crayfish Babies | One of the cutest babies
A lot of work has gone into this conservation project and we are excited to announce that we have 6 week old crayfish babies on-site! These babies are adorable as they go about their daily crayfish lives just like an adult would.
Some stunning shots captured of mother crayfish holding onto the craylings before they leave their mum at just one week old.

Report any crayfish sightings, regardless of species, to the Environment Agency Hotline on:

Whenever you are using any of our waterways in the UK, remember 3 simple steps to help protect our crayfish:
1. Check:
Check your equipment, boat, and clothing after leaving the water for mud, aquatic animals or plant material. Remove anything you find and leave it at the site.
2. Clean:
Clean everything thoroughly as soon as you can, paying attention to areas that are damp or hard to access. Use hot water if possible.
3. Dry:
Dry everything for as long as you can before using elsewhere as some invasive plants and animals can survive for over two weeks in damp conditions.

    When they approached the valley of the ants, one ant said, “O you ants, go into your homes, lest you get crushed by Solomon and his soldiers, without perceiving.” He smiled and laughed at her statement, and said, “My Lord, direct me to be appreciative of the blessings You have bestowed upon me and my parents, and to do the righteous works that please You. Admit me by Your mercy into the company of Your righteous servants.” - Al-Qur'an 27:18-19.

    Honeybees are agricultural animals and don't need conservation.. There's not much research done on it yet but some studies even show that honeybees displace wild bee species that actually struggle.

    • @NorthumberlandZoo
      @NorthumberlandZoo 5 днів тому

      100% totally agree - however, honeybees are an easy one for visitors to understand as its a species everyone knows, they can get local products from them and they represent the pollinators in general. UK native Bumblebees are struggling as are other pollinators. Would be interesting to understand if beekeeping is definitely having a negative effect on native pollinators - that is such a shame as well as I doubt anything would be done about that as it is a huge business. It would also be interesting to compare the effects of the Native Black Honeybee to the European Honeybee which most keepers keep. 🤔

    Not sure if you know but the volume keeps going super quiet. Scavenger hung sounds amazing but I usually visit through the week not the weekend, will it be around for a week or so after too please? So many people unfortunately do harm by doing what they think is being kind, so thankyou for spreading awareness too! I'm jealous of the goats play stuff 😂 I noticed the fawn without spots when it was still tiny, is it a common thing to happen? I remember when Winston was a baby in what is now the native species building! I love hearing about the individual animals, I feel like I know them all as I visit so often, but at the same time don't really know them if that makes sense.

    I was there today and almost all the piggies were out! In the stables, the barbers, on the mine, in the veg patch, they were everywhere!! It was astonishing. Super cute. It’s fascinating how absolutely every one not only has a unique colouration, but the length of their fur (hair?) the style of their fur - they’re all so different! One of them looked like a Donald Trump wig in the grass! Outstanding😂 I’ve seen people feeding clumps of grass to farm animals at Beamish. I always tell them off, get loads of abuse back, sometimes it gets nasty with aggro alpha male chav dads who really should educate themselves! I wish they had such signs at Beamish!!
