You’re right. It literally does nothing and adds nothing except end the game you’re supposed to be having fun in. Like I get it if you have to go but even then there’s more fun ways to end the game than by exfiling. The way my friends and I end games are by forcing everyone into a small area (like the Bowie Knife room on five) and telling no one to shoot or revive and trying down each other. Last alive wins I think modern fans need to take a step back and think about whether they actually like the core gameplay of the mode or would rather seek a sense of accomplishment by doing some quest or exfiling for in game or meta progression

As much as I like Cold War Zombies I wished they kept the old standard of having a pistol that gets weak after round 5 or 6 instead of choosing all the weapons you could get and then theirs no point in gambling on the mystery box unless you want the Ray Gun and even get a weapon on the wall
