Bro, stop complaining and give it time. this are not cameras or systems from out time frame they are supposed to be a bit frustrating at first so much so that you are not appreciating your nice photos in this video. i'm currently using a leica iiic with a collapsible lens that you need to put the camera in front of you to chance the aperture and advance the film before you can set shutter speed, no light meter obviously and honestly you better off by zone focusing with this camera but the point is the different experience, you earn the right to say this is a good picture because of me not because of the technology of the camera so keep on trying to make sure this is something you won't enjoy and as someone commented already forget Matt Day.

It simply ain't a SLR! We all used RF until the SLR Arrived! Pentax Spotmatic, Nikon-F! We all voted with our wallets! Yet it's a great other way! Metering color negative is not a chore! So wide latitude! Medium format gets really Expensive! Adding more gear, worst way to learn! My Leica M3 is now 57 years in my pro/fun use! Mostly 50mm! Sad!

Interesting video. Some lovely shots with beautiful warm pastel colours. I see a couple of things that might be causing you some problems. 1. In the images at 19secs, 4m 19s, 4m 35s, 10m 09s and your seafoam 'streak' are all light leaks. Looks like its in the same spot about 1/3rd of the frame in from the left edge. Maybe the foam seals around the camera door are perishing, (a common problem on older cameras), maybe the camera back doesn't snap tight enough closed or maybe you loaded and unloaded the film in bright sun. 2. The shutter timing appears to be out of sync at certain shutter speeds, the shutter curtain is still moving across the exposed film whilst the camera is timing the exposure and the shutter curtain should be out of frame. Thats what the black bar is in images: 10m 19s, 2m 57s 3. The clouds/road/mountain image at 4 mins 26 defines how you need to think about using your film cameras. All pre 'logic' cameras meter the light in the image and present you with a setting that will perfectly replicate what is known as 'middle grey' or '18% grey' (look it up and then go and look at the work of Ansel Adams and investigate his 'zone system') The road surface in your image appears to have been exposed perfectly (because the meter saw middle grey and exposed for it, you accepted the meter's reading, so both the clouds and mountain are incorrectly exposed.) Get your head round this because it helps in all aspects of film photography. You can buy a 'grey card' and physically place it in the light that you intend to make an image in, then meter off the card and adjust your exposure accordingly.

This is an enthusiast tier camera body and having the incredible reach with a telephoto lens, it gives like a cropped equivalent of 85mp full frame body which is unmatched at this price point on a mirrorless body. For technical astrophotography and macro photography, the next best you can get is a 4-5 times more expensive 102mp fujifilm full frame. Which offers about 20% more pixel density. And it can shoot nice videos, if you set up the shutter speed of the 23.98 4k fine mode to 1/50, motion will look neutral unless you move the body or you're shooting a very fast moving subject, you won't have rolling shutter issues, For more motion blur effect you cen set the shutter speed to 1/25 and it'll create a nice artistic motion blur. For high detailed sharp videos in action, increase the shutter speed to 1/100 so the frames will be sharp but it'll feel jittery. I'd use a 1.8 or 1.4 35mm lens with IS and IBIS on for video and portrait & landscape photography.

camera and lens are a great match. its a great tool to master sunny 16 which isn't a lazy way to be, its a way to remember light patterns so you don't need a meter which makes you more advanced and quicker than most. id also suggest if you haven't, to start and get comfortable with zone focusing, that's where range finders shine and takes less time to get the photo when a composition appears in front of you. id like to add. a lab tech has an insane amount of control over the color temperature and outcome of a scan as long as its exposed correctly you can get some great stuff with ultramax.

All of his complaints and reservations seem to be a "you" problem rather than a camera problem. He's the one setting exposure, apparently without reference to a light meter. He's the one picking the composition. I will give him that his apparently random choice of a Canon rangefinder body to use landed him on the least desirable models among all the latter 1950s to end models. The P has two major disadvantages compared to other Canon RF models. (1) To reduce the price, Canon eliminated the complex, multi-focal viewfinder used on all models from the early 1950s to the last in 1968, except for the P. The result is a viewer cluttered with lines outlining the coverage of three different lenses. (2) The shutter. It was made totally new for the P, 7, and 7s. It is a complex design operating at much higher spring pressures than prior Canon shutters, which were based on the Leica design. New, it was great. Used, it was fine, until Canon stopped providing repair parts for it, which was probably in the late 1970s.They tend to drift out of spec as the springs tire, causing the high speeds to slow to the point where simple adjustment is no longer possible. I enjoyed this experience with a lovely 7 I bought on the spur of the moment when I when shopping to get away from one of the most bizarre Thanksgiving dinners my sister ever managed to screw up. (Why the shop owner was open on Thanksgiving Day afternoon, I never determined.) I got a terrific deal on a 50mm 1.4 Canon lens with it, so I never regretted the purchase. As for our guy here, the rest of his video is basically a confession that he has not a clue on how to use an RF camera. There, I saved 7 minutes of your life you'll otherwise never get back.

Yeah litterally skill issues... Man didn't familiar himself with the machine got frustrated using it. To be fair the move to SLR didn't happens for no reason, SLR with light meter are definitely simpler to use than the full manual RF Canon P.

I had a similar experience with my Canon L rangefinder, it gets easier with time but tbh as a glasses wearer SLRs are always going to be easier. You'll enjoy the Mamiya 645, if you can pick up a later model and prism viewfinder with a meter you'll get great results.

Great photos and a fun video overall. As for your flash issue, sometimes the LCD displays on these old point and shoots die long before the camera does. Fortunately, the features can still sometimes work. In my experience, on most point and shoots, pressing the flash button twice turns off the flash. Here's the tricky part/annoying part. Every time you turn that camera off, close the lens, etc, the settings reset. Hopefully this works for your Fuji!

Glad to see you’re enjoying and experimenting with film! I am curious tho about why you wanted to underexpose your shots during the daytime when there was sufficient light to properly expose them. Pushing film - that is, underexposing it while shooting and then increasing the development time - serves to improve highlight detail and contrast but developing underexposed film longer won’t do much to help shadows because the film didn’t have enough time to capture much detail (and you can’t retrieve detail that was never there). If you wanted more contrast and a slightly ‘crunchy’ look to your film, I would suggest relying on post-processing rather than playing with exposure, especially when it comes to underexposing color negative film. Or, at least, save pushing to dark situations when even shooting with the widest aperture and the longest shutter speed that won’t introduce too much camera shake (~ 1/60) still doesn’t provide enough light for a properly exposed image. All that said, keep it up and I can’t wait for your next video!
