The concept art could have made the movie extremely dark and a true horror. Imagine each marine soldier in full control of genetically created and coded to the soldier an alien super soldier remotely controlled and under full obedience of the marine. Now imagine going after predators or Engineers with battles planetary wide using aliens against engineers and predators. A very dark and mature movie is what we need.

The movie was just an average space horror movie, nothing special.

Great video Mike - I've now seen the film twice - was massively down on it the first time - however on second viewing everything played much better and I think it's pretty good. I think it's a Last Jedi moment where a director is being courageous and trying new things - I've realised that Alien/Aliens are two of the greatest films ever made - not just two of the best Alien films - so hoping for something to sit with those two entries is a bit shortsighted. We pass the torch to a younger fanbase.

Really enjoyed this documentary, well done. I got the impression that Ridley Scott cock-blocked the project, but I don’t know how he managed to get so much hype with just a treatment pitch and nice art work? But the idea of the ship being made out of human DNA by the xenomorph would’ve had every audience shaking their heads in disbelief. And we thought Prometheus was wacky? But Alien: Romulus seems to have been the sequel all Alien fans have been waiting for for decades. Neil Blomkamp must be thinking “That coulda been me!”

I wonder if they cut some voilent scenes out or lowered the gore for cinema release 🤔

It’s a dog,a derivative train wreck to put it mildly. I’ve read some of the “5 star” Rotten Tomatoes reviews and I’m convinced they’re largely AI bot generated.

Having seen the film now that it’s released in theatres, “that disgusting scene” while nasty didn't go as over the top as I'd expected, it's still horrifying yet wanted it to linger on it more but that might have diminished the affect, let’s me very disturbed, reminded me of Ripley's pain to be the mother/host of the new AlienQueen in Alien3, the atrocious NewBorn Hybrid born in Alien Resurrection, the nature of the PredAlien putting chestbursters in Pregnant women in Aliens Vs Predator Requiem, it near tops the medpod scene in Prometheus with the trilobyte removal and the Neomorph birth in the medbay in Alien Covenant, such an awful fate for Kay. Though it may polarize people that baby monster in the 3rd act is the most disturbed I'd been seeing any of these movie in years, the stuff of nightmares 😳

Yeah definitely not that big of a deal

This movie needs a directors cut. Just got out my second screening and if you watch the whole hive sequence closely, you’ll notice they seem to cut a huge chunk of it out based on the corridors leading to the elevator (first time when three of them are there) and then the second time when Rain goes back for Andy. Watch that entire sequence and the length of the corridors closely. In the second sequence when Rain goes back, there’s a whole other stretch/section to the hive that gets revealed in a shot.

Why is nobody mentioning the fact that the queen Xeno from Aliens will be cocooned and floating in space somewhere too. I SMELL A SEQUEL!!!!

As a self professed Monsterverse hater; great video agreed on most points. I will NEVER enjoy the Monsterverse designs and lack of strong nuclear/environmental/political messaging, and lowkey it does make me deeply sad that this will be THE Godzilla for an entire generation. But ultimately thats okay. Monsterverse Godzilla is not MY Godzilla, but it doesn't make my Godzilla cease to exist. Hell, if anything, maybe the Monsterverse's success will lead to the Heisei and Millenium movies finally being easily accessible on streaming (copium)

Andy was the star of the film! What an incredible performance. I’m still not sure how I feel about the final creature scene but it definitely had a strong scare/creepy factor. I just didn’t care for going down that road a second time as I wasn’t impressed with it in Alien Resurrection either. It was fascinating that it had a strong resemblance to the engineers, though.

After first viewing : Nostalgia 100%, mood and environment 100%, facehugger action 100%, xenomorph action 80%, Prometheus black goo and hybrid alien 15% 😢 not needed... 80% of this movie was freaking fantastic and I was smiling ear to ear, until black goo and stupid engineer looking hybrid monster... Similar to the one we got at the end of alien Resurrection,... All in all a great movie though and I can't wait to see it again 🍿🫶👽 Aliens 1986 Alien 1979 Alien 3 Alien Romulus AVP part 1 Prometheus (Alien covenant, AVP part 2, and alien Resurrection.. Just saw Alien Romulus! It was good, but in my opinion, the ending let it down!

I just came home from watching Romulus and as a massive Alien fan i have a lot of mixed feelings , they went overboard with the callback, by far the less original film in the franchise and that “get away from her you bitch” call back just took out me, sadly my worst fear has come true, Alien has been Star Warsed, i hope these call backs never make another appearance in the next Alien film

acting - 9/10 camera work and lighting - 7/10 production - 2/10 direction - 2/10 cgi - 0/10 dnf originality, lore, world building, overall plot - 0/10 pathetic. it's clear we have some brilliant actors and actresses here, but everyone else involved and I mean everyone should hang their heads in shame.

Thank you for the heads up about Big Chap. When I heard the leaks I thought that the Scorched Alien was Big Chap, so I know that I would be a bit disappointed if I went through the movie and came to that realization.
