This movie over any other G film deserves it the most! So stoked for the team who worked on it.

It’s a historic day!
The sad thing is that it may not even win because Hollywood is a joke and is salty over its success. Hell this is one of the best if not the best movie that came out in 2023 and it’s only got one nomination!
Hollywood isn’t salty at all if they are giving it the nomination for VFX. Plus the cheers it got compared to the other nominees were much louder, giving me a hint that it’s the front runner for the winner. We should be stoked they even acknowledge a Godzilla movie at something like this!
I know. Even if it doesn’t win this is still a historic moment for the franchise. I’m happy for everyone involved with its production.
But that doesn’t change the fact that this is the ONLY nomination it got. It wasn’t nominated for best film, it wasn’t nominated for best international film. Apart from VFX, this film almost completely and unfairly snubbed.
Instead they literally nominated Barbie for 8 categories that I don’t think it even deserves! The movie was fine but it was only truly successful because A: It was based on a popular brand and B: Because of a meme!
I’m still happy that Godzilla Minus One was at least nominated and I hope it wins this category for all our sakes. But this was a fantastic film and it deserves better than just a singular nomination.
@@HarryHandley-gn3uj unfortunately you have to submit to be nominated for Best Foreign film, and Japan withheld. So it’s not the Oscars fault on that nomination. There a lot of rules to the nominations that the Godzilla fans just don’t know or understand. They have a strict number of entries, and the lists are all really tight. I’m having a hard time thinking about what Id swap out. Minus One was indeed amazing, but the other nominations are worthy as well. And actually, Barbie got snubbed a lot! So it’s not doing as well as many think.

Personally, I could care less about the Oscars. I've stopped caring about them for a while.
Godzilla Minus One was a great movie, easily the best of 2023, next to The Boy and the Heron. I don't need some gold-painted statuette of a naked man to tell me anything of quality.
