Bougie Birdfeeder
Building a bird feeder can be a delightful project, and it’s a great way to attract feathered visitors to your yard.
Bird feeders offer a host of benefits, both for our feathered friends and for us.
For Birds:
Survival: During winter, birds need ample food to maintain their energy levels and body temperature. Bird feeders provide a reliable source of nutrition, increasing their chances of survival.
Increased Survival Rates: Studies show that bird survival rates rise significantly when feeders are present.
Year-Round Support: Bird feeders ensure consistent food availability, especially when natural sources are scarce.
For Us:
Joy and Relaxation: Watching birds at feeders is delightful and relaxing. It connects us with nature and brings a sense of peace.
Local Sustainability: By setting up a feeder, you contribute to local ecosystems and support bird populations.
Remember, you can get creative with materials and design. Happy birdwatching! 🐦🌿

    What’s to keep the feed from getting wet when the rain comes in sideways?

    • @MackenzieWoodworking
      @MackenzieWoodworking 2 місяці тому

      All bird feeders need continuous maintenance so that birds are not eating moldy food. Whether rain hits the front of the bird feeder or the sides if you have a bird feeder you must maintain it.

    thanks for the tutorial, why use matt instead of cloth?

    • @MackenzieWoodworking
      @MackenzieWoodworking 3 місяці тому

      Great question, thanks for asking. The reason we use matt is that it will give us a smoother surface and is also not structural so is only meant to support the resin on the plywood. If I was doing something structural I would layer matt, cloth and then matt. I always use matt as my finish surface. Good luck with your project.

    Hi great video. How do you hide the initial inbound cut which you make to cut out the drawer. Thanks.

    • @MackenzieWoodworking
      @MackenzieWoodworking 4 місяці тому

      I enter at the bottom of the drawer and look for a dark grain in the wood and enter in and then back the blade out through the same cut. Then glue the joint.

    I have a plywood wall that i am repairing. Had water damage, i cut the damaged area out, but not sure how to repair it. Fiberglass may be the cure. Do you have any suggestions?

    • @MackenzieWoodworking
      @MackenzieWoodworking 4 місяці тому

      If you have problems with a wall getting damp or wet you may want to just coat it with epoxy.

    Can you paint the fiber glass surface using something like a nonskid deck paint? I’m considering coating a boat floor in fiberglass to help better waterproof the surface

    • @supercman882
      @supercman882 4 місяці тому

      Btw, I love your videos and your work

    • @MackenzieWoodworking
      @MackenzieWoodworking 4 місяці тому

      Yes, you can! You would want to use a polyurethane paint with a non-skid additive. If you put down gelcoat you have to put down non-waxed. If you are re-fiber glassing when you do the gelcoat you can add a non-skid additive and the gelcoat waxed.

    • @supercman882
      @supercman882 4 місяці тому

      @@MackenzieWoodworking one last question, is it possible to add some non skid additive to the polyester resin to give river glass some grip? I was contemplating keeping the wood look of the plywood so I wouldn’t paint the surface. I like the natural wood look but was wondering, can I add some Media like crushed walnut to the top coat and then go over it again with resin??
