Porsche Boxster & 911 Review & Introduction
your mate looks like Schumacher
Love the video. I am a proud owner of a 991.1 4S for two years now. I agree with you re owning a 911. I love the looks of a Cayman and 718 but I want a 911. It's not so much I want to own a Porsche because to me when you mention Porsche, it IS a 911.
The boxster looks nice, just needs an engine!!!
They are bringing out a new and improved model. But its going yo b aimed at the semi wealthy. Bmw i8M. 2025 relesse date. It looks amazing. Check it out on google
Real, honest and enjoyable video. Thanks!
Thanks for making such a great and useful video. As someone who is looking to get one, it has certainly helped me with what spec I need to look for.
Classic uk , wind and motorway noise in the background . 🤮
Dealer warranty all day long. Something goes wrong with a Porsche and it could be super expensive
Hi, I watched your review because I'm considering buying the cabriolet version of an F56 with automatic gearbox. Diesel, 1.5, 114hp, 2016 model, 25.000 miles. Asking price from a private seller is 18000€ which is about 16000£. Would you think that's a fair price? Thanks
With that mileage, if the body work is mint, if it has a full history and drives straight then yes get one. It doesnt have modern add blue juice. Fuel economy is over 60mpg.
This car is as Infamous as the Mercedes-Benz SLS. Iconic
8:24 "it literally just eats up the ground in front of you" Literally? I hope not. 😉
Interesting look at the cost of the Cayman. A couple of years ago I had a 2009 987, Gen 2 Cayman S & I agree that I liked it too much & put a few miles on it I was also worried about a possible engine rebuild because it was up to about 95K although I had no problems. Anyway I sold it very easily but lost about £4000 on the original purchase price from 2 years previous. It was also frighteningly fast & we were just mainly pottering around country roads. I had owned an MGB Roadster in the 70's & have recently bought a totally restored 1965 Roadster that had a new Heritage bodyshell with a rebuilt engine and an MX5 5 speed gearbox. The spares are easily available, there is no road tax, no MOT but I still get one done & fully comp insurance for an old geezer like myself is only £160. It's not as practical as the Cayman but it does give me a buzz when I drive it & reminds me of when I was 23 again!!
So you bought it prior to having your first drive in it. Smart one mate.
A bit nervous on the presentation but appreciate the review.
Great review. Just wondering does the S come with the oil package under frunk from factory? Even the base Cayman can mix it with the S and GTS 4.0 on a twisty road just see the UA-cam Channel TrueView. It has higher corner g’s according to fastestlaps. I think the X73 suspension is better if you do Porsche drives or occasional track and it sits lower than pasm. Even a stock Cayman exhaust will crackle on the overrun after being heavy on the throttle and then braking into a corner in sports mode. You can still activate launch control even if you don’t have sports chronometer by switching off traction control and using sports mode.
Battery drives the front wheels? 😁 you mean electric motors😄
Eco pro is not electric mode
That blue mini doesn’t have heli wheels the heli wheels are totally different & are just 5 spoke wheels 🛞 I know because I have them on my 16 reg f55 5dr mini and happen to actually look like this emoji 🛞
Honest and sobering reporting. Life is short, but high-end vehicle ownership means high-end maintenance costs. I suspect that, especially with used Porsches, the cost of ownership overtakes the cost of purchase much faster than most prospective owners are prepared to imagine. I would therefore suggest reserving at most half of your savings on such an adventure, spending 50% of that on a well-maintained example and reserving the other 50% for maintenance costs over the coming years. If you later sell the car before burning through all of that reserve, great! This way you'll be able to truly enjoy the car without the fear of financial ruin hanging over your head. Otherwise, you will be reminded of this old parody: "Porsche: it will leave you destitute."
He didn't describe big expenditures though, less than a grand in 20000 miles is extremely reasonable for a sports car
Gpf?
Hi. Could you share what you paid for it and / or what you think it's worth now?
As a previous fk8 owner, I regret selling it.. worth every penny over the FL5 in my opinion.
Could you give some reasons why you’d take the fk8 over fl5 if you were to?
Your comment implies that you currently have FL5 and regret selling FK8 for it.
If you're a fat out of shape American it's hard to get into. For a regular person it's quite simple
Nice review!
I’m number 2 on the list for a GTS 4.0, can’t do a 4 cylinder…😢
About double that price in my country for a real nice one.
Is this for sale?
The contrast in mood of the presenter from static review to driving says it all. This man is truly happy when behind the wheel - as is probably the case with every Boxster/Cayman owner
Seeing how little they changed (aside from the powertrain) from 981 to 718 shows that Porsche definitely got this one right a decade or more back. The Boxster/Cayman series is a sports car every enthusiast should own someday, and as a 1-year owner of a 981 Cayman S, I could not be happier.
Back for a second look. I have the 981 S and the only option I truly wish I had after a year of ownership is the active suspension (PASM) for spirited drives on the backroads I live amidst. I drove an S with the sport suspension and found it excellent but a touch too stiff for regular highway driving, so having the option to switch between the two would be the perfect scenario IMO. Deal breaker? Not on your life! This car is superb in any trim and owning one is a true blessing for any car enthusiast.
I think it was the old Ferrari team principal Mattia Binotto who said "a reliable car is a beautiful car". Nowhere is that more true than the Civic. Yes, Honda in Europe as seen as frumpy and old hat compared to the glitzy Audis, Beemers and Mercs, but I know which will still be running after 150k miles and it isn't any of the German lot. I've owned a 1.8 Civic for nearly 5 years and fingers crossed just about to make the leap to a 2018 Type R. I have absolute faith in Honda and the quality of their engineering, and just cannot wait! :)
Gave up watching, out of focus images just too much for me to watch anymore!
I love 718 ❤
Front wheels are on the wrong sides of the car.
Absolutely terrible audio. Why even release this? Stopped watching.
XXFCTG IS 5957I6E@5 FOR THE 3 OF THE INCONVENIENCE AND THE INCONVENIENCE AND
It's done 3k miles? In total? You've had it 12 mths? But it's still only done 3k miles? If that's the case, you are not in any position to review how it really drives and give a long term option on using/ownership. You haven't driven it! You can talk spec and options ( which you did) but you're in no position to offer a true perspective on how it really handles and drives 😁 oh and yes, I own a manual coupe C4S and have USED it for 4 years.
I much prefer the 2WD drive. Absolutely HATE the fat wrap around tail light strip
You’re definitely in the minority there pal.
The short answer is NO don't touch it. BMW don't want them as trade ins. " You're better off selling them privately ". The Mini engine is a disaster lots of failures in Mini's parts hard to obtain and cost the earth. On strip down lots of brittle plastic pipes and connectors fail and are on back order and costs stupid money. We no longer do any engine rebuilds and repairs on mini's with this engine..so many problems on this and new minis.. Really is a case of buyer beware ...or run away..fast.
nice one sis
Pops and bangs, where did this craze come from
😢crying. cuz your 36k usd car is 2.5 lac usd in my country. and if i wanna import this then it takes about 3-4.5 lac usd
In Australia, 10 of these are on the market. (April 2024). Local prices range from $140,000 to $260,000 dollars. Just saying ...
most markets aren't the Australia market; there wasn't a massive production run of these i8s before they stopped in 2020 ; probably weren't the most successful at the launch msrp of 150k but in places with greater quantity the prices have gone down to 40-80 depending on region and model, year, etc.
You would have been better coming to the UK to buy one, ship it back & save tens of thousands!
Fit and finish is fine but reliability is heads above rubbish German guff.
Never understood brand snobbery about the BMW badge, for example. They're absolute junk in my opinion. Give me Japanese engineering any day.
What a joke. Drive an m4 then come back 😂
Ok but get a is350 f sport for cheaper then a Honda am I right?
A real Porsche
the i8 is the most notable "black-eye" BMW has ever realized! They were really just very wrong in every way except exterior design! Very sad for BMW and an even more silly joke for those who don't know any better and actually own one!
Bottom line......if you finance a car your an idiot.
This is my current attainable dream car, hopefully I can pick one up before prices keep going up. I think this is one of the best looking 911’s out there
Mine too!
I got myself a 996 Turbo last year, it was already as much as a 997 Turbo but I much prefer the 996
only thing worth talking about on most german cars is the high quality interior
So you don't prefer the interior you preferred?
