Observer: The Time Bloober Team Got it Right
Bloober Team isn't exactly a fan-favorite developer, but truth be told I've always had a bit of a soft spot for them, despite thinking most of their games aren't good. But there is one game that bucks the trend and proves that they have the capacity to make something great; Observer. But it'd been years since I played any of their games, so I wanted to revisit them all and see if I could pin down what makes Bloober tick, and why Observer still feels so fresh, even today.

Shattering The Open World: Analyzing The Level Design of Elden Ring
Переглядів 10 тис.2 місяці тому
Open world games are in a bad spot. They claim to offer "freedom" but then bombard players with over-intrusive HUDs, endless quest markers, and guiding lines that handhold your every move. But simply turning off the HUD is not a fix either, because these games are designed EXCLUSIVELY around using those UI elements. So the real problem lies in their bland, uninspired level design. But that's wh...

The elders scrolls fixed this issue. Waiting on 4
The worldbuilding is what especially upsets me. The world is just…to small, and something about the world design only makes it feel even more claustrophobic. About as much effort was put into this games lore and world as a bestselling romantasy novel.
Dragons dogma is in no way similar to genshin impact meets Fortnite with a legend of Zelda skin.
Ladies and gentlemen I itroduce...The mod cummunity
The downside of campfires is that using the same one repeatedly can result in you getting ambushed in the middle of the night which removes the campfire from your inventory.
Everybody’s a critic now. This is really annoying and damaging to the industry along with the investors. It has flaws but is in no way a bad game. Maybe you guys just aren’t the audience
This is far from spoiler free
What was spoiled?
The first game was better in terms of classes / abilities
I like the gameplay, which is to say I have almost no taste. MW3 is worse imo. Couldn't even like the gameplay.
Ubi fell off so hard
Don't for get the chicken fights
@@mikemike3523 best part of the game lmao
I wish you would’ve sat in the first 10 seconds that you only played it on PS5
If you never noticed that has been almost all Ubisoft single player games just the same thing over and over again all the assassin creeds, far cry 3,4,5 we’re exactly like that
I hope next time they pick proper story writers haha
Very clear explanation keep up the good work my guy
people always critisize even when the game is amazing. we gota stop nit picking and play for what it is and its a really fun game at the end of the day.
God. This games amazing. Alot of people wont get it. But the ones who know....know. Its a man's game. Call of duty is there for the rest of you
Actually the campfires can be unusable when a mob destroys your tent. The game is just too easy
This game has a freaking good atmosphere imo. The music and the pawns and some npc are really enjoyable. But this game has problems in thr main story direction.
The game is mostly about jump scares. And now you're going to get all defensive probably.
Why would I get defense? Lmao I think this game sucks ass
In spite of its flaws I really love this game as a sequel to the original, Even after the elden ring dlc release I still find myself coming back to this game more than any other release this year. I really hope we get a dlc. after 300 hours I still find the combat fun despite the lack of enemy variety, a dlc could remedy that with hydra and cockatrice, and preferably a new non goblin/ bandit/ lizard fodder enemy for a little more variety. IMO the Dullahan is one of the most fun fights in any game ive had in a while. Also would like a hardmode obviously.
Best review of the game. Ripped the words straight from my head
They jumped the shark really hard, imo
I really like this game. I like how soothing the game is. Im a fan of cozy games and enjoy a game that I can shut my brain off while playing. I enjoy the story though.
I bought it the first week of the release. I just finished BG3 at that time and was so ready for another RPG with more action after being immersed in turn-based play style for months. My first vocation was mage and just evolved into sorcerer, and it was a pain in the a**. It's not fun at all to play mage bc all you do is spellcasting but no melee combat ability. I mean, even as a spellcaster in Elden Ring can be fun and challenging while mage in DD2 was all about running away and cast a spell. So at the last part of the game I respec myself into rogue and it was a bit more fun, but still.. boring? No classes/vocations should feel less fun. And pawns.. omg sometimes they pissed me off so bad. Trying to launch me in the air all the time while I'm a spellcaster, and just ignore being my blade to fight the monster. And another problem is the open world and restricted ability to teleport. I'm fine with limited teleportation if the open world is fun; more treasure to find, more secrets to discover, more monster to fight. But no. Nothing. The item in the shop is better and why would I have to wander around? And you know what, as Thai, I got 36k THB/month salary which considered a fair amount (not too much but enough to have a comfortable life). This game might be 70$ in the states, which is okay, but it's 2.2K THB and all I feel after playing this game is: I want my money back. I could enjoy 10 days of good food with that money.
There IS such a thing as malicious ignorance.
Im so confused by this and idk y
Hi Chris, first time viewer here, just wanted to point out a couple of things regarding combat on your 3 month old video in hopes you'll play the game again in the future. 1. When fighting large monsters, you do not need to climb and stay on top of a monster continously spamming the same button. I personally prefer fighting while standing on the ground, so I do just that. For example, as a fighter, when im fighting a cyclops I never climb it. Instead, I stay on the ground, parrying and blocking the cyclops' attacks while taking opportunities to land my own. Fighter has a core skill called Tusk Toss, and I seek opportunities to land these attacks on a cyclops' legs to build up stagger, or in certain situations on a cyclops' right hand to make it let go of its club. Eventually, the stagger would build up enough till the cyclops kneels down, which makes it possible for me to reach its head with a skill called Cloudward Slash. There are also times where the cyclops' attacks leaves its head vulnerable, and i can capitalise on that. This at way, i can kill a cyclops while never having to climb it, and still fighting in an efficient, engaging manner. You can also throw rocks and explosive barrels, throw your own pawns, jump off elevated surfaces, knock the cyclops down a cliff or into the brine, etc. Climbing is just one option of combat, but there are many other options to explore. 2. You don't have to take attacks and spam consumables. Much like Monster Hunter, Dragon's Dogma's combat relies heavily on range and positioning. You don't need a dodge button to dodge attacks, or a shield, as long as you learn a monster's attack pattern and active hurtboxes you can just sprint into a spot where the attack can't reach you, and you're safe to return attacks of your own. I dont have a very good memory so these are just the two things which stood out enough to me to make a reply on, but overall regarding combat it seems to me like you've been restricting yourself which is unfortunate as both Dragon Dogma games are games that allow and reward player creativity and expression.
How Bloobed up do you gotta be to enjoy Layers of Fear 2?
Trust me, you gotta be straight up Bloobin it to get through those Se7en references without committing "uninstall game"
They will cave and make another BBI soon
Put me on to another one; added to wishlist!
Hell yeah dude! Hope you enjoy it if you end up checkin it out!
First!!!!
campfires kits ARE destructible though and bringing just one, into the wild can sometimes create interesting situations, but yeah they should break way more regularily not at like 10-20% chance
They proved that nothing was learned from DD:DA, this is just a remake with little to no improvements and seems more like a way to make some quick cash.
Gotta get money for MH Wilds development somehow, MH Rise didn't sell as many copies as Capcom hoped.
Rolling my eyes this whole video.
L take
Personally it's s a great game, thats alotta fun. It Looks amazing and combat is incredible...... the problems is that everybody is all the sudden an expert cause they watch videos or make videos..... youtubers are not experts.... their people who make videos to express their opinion. Opinions are not fact. Take all opinions in gaming with a grain of salt...If you enjoy the or a game. Have fun. Enjoy your time. Dont over think it. Gaming is meant to get away from the stresses of the real world. Transport you to a different world, time or place. Youll end up having more fun and a better experience going into a game blind and not doing 10 hours of researching a game before you even play then your already having expectations before you even play... and youll be burnt out on the game before you even play the game.... people spend more time watching other people play than playing the game themselves.... then youve pretty much experienced the game without playing the game yourself.... dont make this mistake. There are 1000s of videos and reviews out there on each game. Forcing opinions, gameplay and expectations down your throat before the game releases. Experience the game yourself. Go in blind. Youll have more fun and be more surprised in the long run. Happy gaming, Arisen
In 2024 i whish could have seen this review before buying it (well honest review ).
Honestly, i liked Dragons Dogma 1 art style better than this.
this review is gonna age like milk
it dont have any unique weapons skill :/
all I want is just added story, 3rd tier vocation, more enemy roster, more skills no need beautiful graphics, DDDA is enough for me, all I care is the combat gameplay
I could have forgiven the terrible ending if they had not screwed up NGP this should have been a place to test out your skills on the most high levels mobs.. but no lvl scaling makes it pointless.
I was trying to say most of what you are saying when the game came out, but it was drowned out by nonsense misinformation about the microtransactions from one side and blind honeymoon fanboyism from the other. I enjoyed the video a lot, thanks. And it's such a shame that DD1 felt like it missed its potential, but it was made with a limited budget and time in the dark age of Capcom (and Japanese games), DD2 was their chance to hit that potential, and once again, a miss, despite everything aligning for a masterpiece (golden age of Capcom, Japanese game renaissance, actual budget, etc) SO frustrating.
Great combat and decent world building but main story felt incomplete
The Lands Between is up there with The Continent as the greatest fantasy maps that aren't MMOs. Tamriel and Azeroth are pretty iconic but Elden Ring matches the map quality of the greatest fantasy maps ever on top of boasting the best available combat in action fantasy. It has the depth and scope of a TTRPG but can be as simple as an epic boss rush if that's all you want it to be. I find the childlike in-my-head roleplaying fantastic and the weapon, magic and gear variety makes TLB feel like the greatest fantasy playground ever.
This disappointment feels a lot like anthem to me, climbing on the monsters is a great mechanic that's pretty unique just like the flight in anthem I've never felt anything like flying around in anthem but u immediately overheat and your just like why... I found myself asking that question alot playing dragon dogma just why would u do it that way...🤦🏾♂️
It’s a beautiful film and a work of love.
I agree with your opinion, but there is one problem: time! I come home and sacrifice 2 hours of my time, instead of studying or taking care of my wife, to play ER every night. A few journal entries and quest logs can make a big difference in my opinion. And even though I followed video guides and builds, because I don't want to blindly walk around for 2 hours for nothing, the game threw an insanely difficult boss to stop us from progressing. After +60 attempts to defeat Malenia with a melee scythe character, I just gave up... After +40 attempts to defeat the Elden Beast with a bloody samurai character, I gave up... I'm now playing as a mage, but the last 2 months have been just a waste of time for me. Is this still fun? I don't even know... This was the same amount of time I spent finishing Horizon Zero Dawn and Horizon Forbidden West, and these are magnificent games with absurdly beautiful and captivating stories, unlike ER which is very superficial, even though it was the first FromSoftware game that actually tried to put a plot...
When I initially boot it up, I find a lot of crash to desktop
