Hi Jon I wrote to you on my 4020 power shift a few weeks back. it would pull with inching pedal down. I rebuilt the c1 pack, also went through the shift, clutch valves, changed all springs, and even put in a new clutch valve in the housing, it was alittle scuffed.. Now it pulls more now than ever, but now no clutch pressure when pedal is down, I can't even do the drag test.. I put the 7 gauge set on it and all packs shift correctly, pressures are good. I can hold the clutch down and shift slowly, the tractor will move when 3rd thru eighth are engaged.. Deere did send me disks that changed numbers. I keep reading this manual and I'm not sure where the problem is. I was wondering if you had an idea? are the new disks the problem? Thanks again.

I use my 4020 and a 4/16 John Deere trailing plow from the mid 60s. Since my tractor is set up for 30 inch rows, I swing the drawbar to the left so the tractor wheel is square in the furrow. That is the single big reason I have not purchased a 4/18 semi mounted plow with auto reset and much more clearance for crop residue. If I did eventually make that, switch, think I would try to find an Oliver plow. I only plow for, like you said, clean up a field or plant a new hayseeding.

Shoot, could you put a grease zerk on those splines going to the final drives from the transmission? Even though not much sliding action, but the constant vibration and torque load/unload... new holland has greasable splines on their machines. Really all splines and shafts should be greasable. Nervewrecking to me 😅 Hope it all works out and no big surprises. Crazy how heavy those tracks and axle are... but in hindsight they gotta carry a lotta weight around! Not sure how big your grain tank is, but adding in weight of the header too probably gets over 40,000 lbs on the front?
