I started making handmade soap in the summer of 2021 and launched my business shortly thereafter. This channel is where I document all the behind the scenes that goes into growing this business, from expanding product lines (soy candles, lip balms, shower steamers, bath salts, etc.) to the mental challenges of running a business on my own with ADHD and anxiety, to celebrating the wins as I grow bigger than I could have expected. I appreciate this community so much and am extremely grateful for every single viewer! Feel free to check out my products at Bushyl.com!
Reviewing Brambleberry's Bella Vita fragrance collection - one obvious fave!
*This is not sponsored content!*
This is my first time buying an entire fragrance collection from Brambleberry and I thought you might want to watch as I open each scent for the first time and give my initial thoughts on each oil. I chose the Bella Vita fragrance collection because I was curious about the summer vibes they were giving with the Italian vacation theme. I'm always struggling to hit just the right note with summer fragrance and I wanted to see what the experts were putting together.

The comparison trap (what you don't know about other people's success) - Vlogmas Day 14
Переглядів 36011 місяців тому
Why do we insist on punishing ourselves through comparison? Especially as small business owners, there are so many factors beyond what you see from the outside that affect a business's success. I was reminded of this annoying habit of mine at a recent speaking event featuring one of my good friends and it was a clear reminder to me that even the people and businesses you think you know might ha...

I made these steamers but may have used too much essential oil. I weighed everything, is it 1oz of essential oil literally by weight, or 1 fl oz of essential oil by volume ?
The oz are in reference to weight! Good luck with the next batch 😊
Thanks for being honest. Needed to remind myself that this is a long term goal and there will be ups and downs.
Please do a packing video! I'm just starting with my products. So far I'm offering Cleansing and Blessing Sprays and and in the process of figuring the bath salts. I'd love to eventually ship but so far I've kept it super local!!! Thank you soooo!❤🎉
I have binge watching your videos hahahah It's 2am and have no business being up bahaha😅 I do want to say that you are super relatable and so excited that you were able to ✔️ those goals!!! I have also found that social media absolutely is too much for me to keep up with, the way others want us to. I decided I'm just doing me, and so far it's been a slow growth...but growth non the less!!❤❤❤ Keep up the good work! Big hugs from Texas!
I’ve tried your recipe many times and I just can’t get it right. The tops of the steamer ( what goes in the mold first) dries hard but the bottom are crumbly. Any idea ?
What do you do with them after they are on the baking sheet? Just let them air dry for... however long? or bake them at whatever temp for whatever time?
I am trying to make candles with the family on thanksgiving. We have over 6 teens coming, what can I use to replace the metal wax melting cup when I distribute wax to each person so they can make their own candle with oil of choice? Thank you
If you’re using soy wax, you could basically use any heat-safe container that’s easy to pour out of. Soy wax is water soluble so it should be fairly easy to clean out of whatever you use, but you could even use disposable to-go coffee cups if you want less cleanup.
@hellobushyl thank you so much 💗 I just wanted to make sure I'm so nervous 😓
You’ll do great!! I think they’ll really appreciate you organizing something fun like this 😊
It’s my first time making shower steamers and these are great! Thank you 😊 I am wondering, is there something I can add to make the steamer break down slower? It disintegrated almost immediately (maybe that’s normal, I don’t know). Would increasing corn starch help?
I would say your best bet is just to move it out of the direct steam of water and allow more of the off-spray to activate it - that should slow it down!
The only recipe I can find without oil and polysorbate 80! Thank you! Love your channel!
I’m glad you found it helpful! Thanks for watching 😊
Do you also make bath bombs? I am thinking of selling some. What is your opinion as to which ones sell more, shower steamers or bath bombs? If anyone has any tried and tested experience, please share. Thank you so much.
Can you be more specific about how much essential oil and carrier oil please ?
There’s no carrier oil, those measurements are just essential oils.
@ thank you !
You’re welcome!
I love the recipe and just made a batch for the first time. How long do they need to set up before packaging and using?
I usually let them dry out overnight!
Do you spray the steamers with isopropyl alcohol to seal them? I love that machine! Makes such quick work and saves your hands!
Sorry, where is this full recipe? I have been making or trying to make your shower Steamers off and on for months now but I think I'm missing something from the recipe? Thanks so much!
Hi! It’s in the description 😊
Love your comment on packaging! Such good products get ignored due to poor packaging. Sadly...awesome video, thanks for sharing.
Very relevant. I've been thinking of making a soap business for a while now and most of the aspects you mentioned ( space , time, costs ,volumes) speak to me. When calculating costs I feel its not profitable .
Hi @hellobushyl can you please tell me how mant tbls of witch hazel please? Can i use alcohol? Many thanks ❤
I use a “cap full” so I would guess 1 tablespoon? Alcohol is an option but I’ve tried it before and didn’t like it as much because it doesn’t partially activate the mixture. Instead I’d try a tablespoon of water first!
Thank you so much ❤
Thank you! Class act! Nicely done.
Checking in with you ❤️ Love your channel & can't wait for a new video. 🥰
Hope you’re okay. Miss you!
Who do you use as your packaging supplier if not to much to ask
What press do you use? loved your video
How much witch hazel do you add?
Do you had menthol crystals?
Hey. Great video and explanations When using cardboard tubes do you need to shrink wrap each tablet?
Great video. Left me thinking a lot. Struggling with insurance now. Do you recommend having one and which one?
Is the Witch hazel the only liquid?
This is so awesome. Pls help. Quick question: my shower steamers started having white spots and bubbles on top and do not look polished, but ruff, I also added clay. DO I just put too much witch hazel and that's why they are like this?
Why do you use clay? I assume that is what's causing the spots and bubbles as it perhaps retains moisture?
Very thorough video and good info. Not enough photos imo🤷♀️. Maybe it’s me I like to sproduct being made instead of just u talking. Sorry ..What about review of the base?
Just curious what state you’re in? I have been making soaps for 6 years now, and its still exciting when I unmold and cut my soaps. Thank you for sharing.
Hello thank you for the video, I would love to make these for Christmas,.
Please do a 0 to launch series! That would be so much help. Thank you for all the info you have already shared ❤
Very helpful!
Is it worth it with how much they take?!
Where do you find your art work for your labels, creative market?
I’ve used creative market and Canva!
In one of your videos you mentioned you use a compostable bag inside the tube, where did you find the bags? thank you
Makesy used to sell them but they discontinued them so now I get them from clearbags.com
Your video channel is great! I was wondering what type of paper do you wrap the tubes in? Thank you!
I want to start a perfume line what specifics for paperwork did you need to do? I guess all the legal stuff to get started?
Super helpful! And a lot of things to consider.
Good morning, I have watched your videos in the past and love them all I'm also in Milwaukee, WI but I have a shop for my candles in Oak Creek, WI going on 2years now, I'm reaching out to you for some assistance, if possible, I'm struggling with my website on Shopify and have not launch it yet :( due to me know like how it looks as a business owner, my question to you is if you know someone that is local or if you can recommend someone would be awesome, As always please keep up the good work :)
Hi!! So fun to hear from a fellow Wisconsinite! I would highly recommend Dotted Design! She is in Shorewood and specializes in Shopify sites. She’s super talented 😊
11:33 recipe starts. Thank you!
Girl. I totally feel this. I sell constantly online & spend almost all my time packing & shipping. Markets, though? It’s a whole different kind of energy. I thought in person was the answer but so far I feel like I’m moving to another house every show
It’s in the middle of the year and just ran into this video. Thank you for your thoughts. Truly helpful and inspiring. I have just started my journey with a fragrance store online. Still with a full time job, hope one day I can venture on my own.
Is this measured in volume or weight? Thanks!!
Great question! It’s weight 😊
Thank you for posting and I love the packaging. I’m hoping to sell to wholesale markets in my area. Do you label the tubes yourself or do you have them custom printed?
I label them myself with Online Labels!
Love the packaging ❤
I’m really going back and forth as to whether I want to do this strictly for enjoyment or as a business. I DO need money, don’t get me wrong, but I just know if I want to taint something that I find enjoyable and relaxing by making it a job….
I think about this a lot too - we’re in a time where hobbies always have to be monetized and it can take a lot of the joy out of it!
Love your advise, love your channel, love your brand identity. I just watched the video where you said you stop making swirls in your soaps and that you will stop doing tops. I thought “well she is crazy, who would want that boring soap” then I went into your website…. OMG your soaps are amazing, they look terribly luxurious, congrats for achieving that ❤
Hahahaha love this comment! And thank you so much for watching ❤
Thank you , I appreciate your transparency. It’s really helpful for us newbie’s to learn from your experiences.
I’m binge watching your videos Steph and loving your content. So glad I found you!! Tina 🩷🌷
