    - 22 oz baking soda
    - 11 oz citric acid
    - 3 oz corn starch

    Thank you so much for this video! I'm just doing a few for myself and as gifts for some family/friends, but it's been really helpful to be able to watch you and hear all your comments as you go along. It's always nice to learn from a pro. Thank you again!

      P.S. I don't want to use any menthol smell either, so I'm very happy to see how you make them with just essential oils.

    Not sure as this video is 3 months old at the time I viewed it, but many makers recommend not adding the citric acid into your mix until all the wet ingredients are in and incorporated. It helps to prevent any premature activation. (You may have had this shared before this 😂). All the very best to you!

    thanks so much for running through the process. I love all your videos -they are so real. Thanks for that. I also have a hard time doing the bombs by hand (arthritis!) would you mind sharing your press vendor? and maybe the etsy shop too - not sure I can afford the press right now!

  • @lindarichey4689

    I have used smallish silicon molds and pressed into the mold by hand with ok results. The bath bomb press gives a much smoother and neater appearance though. So go with what you can afford 🤷🏻

    Thank you for this video and recipe! I've been trying to make them, but they crumble so easily, and I find that the lavender eo changes scent to an unpleasant scent. I'm excited to try your recipe! Congratulations on your best seller 😃

    This was super helpful! Thank you for sharing… how long of a shelf life do they have? Do they ever dry out in the packaging? Like do you need to put some sort of plastic covering individually?

    • @hellobushyl
      @hellobushyl  4 місяці тому +1

      I wrap them all together in a bio cello bag from Maskesy. The tubes also come with a silica gel bag that I keep in there to avoid too much moisture getting to them. It seems they have a pretty long shelf life with those conditions!

    Love this recipe! Will mixing longer help the smoothness if I’m just pressing into a mold? Got a few bumps! If the scent didn’t last long would you recommend more oil or more mixing?

    • @hellobushyl
      @hellobushyl  2 місяці тому +1

      Yes, I’ve found that mixing helps the bumps! And I’m guessing if the scents not lasting long after you mix longer, it’s probably that you need more oil 😊

    Thank you so much for this!! I made my first shower steamers the other day, but I did them with menthol crystals. They are SO strong…like almost too strong, it kinda made my stomach hurt while I made them 😂 Do you just throw these on the shower floor? Do they typically last just one shower? Thanks so much again for sharing!!

    • @hellobushyl
      @hellobushyl  4 місяці тому +2

      Yep! They just go on the shower floor and if you put them directly under the spray, they’re stronger but dissolve in one shower. If you put them off the side or event on a bath ledge or something they might last more than one shower but won’t be as strong per shower. Hope that helps!

    • @hellobushyl
      @hellobushyl  Місяць тому +1

      You can definitely use fragrance oil! How much to use sort of depends on the recipe and potency you’re going for and also the recommended usage so check those numbers for whichever fragrance oil essential oils you use.

    Really great info! I am always hesitant to make steamers or bath bombs as they inevitably get those wart like bumps. It looks horrible and I end up giving them away. Now I know to mix my scent in longer and use my hands as well as the whisk. Thank you!!

    Can you use: Baking soda, Epson salts, cornstarch and essential oil, and witch hazel? Basically replacing the citric acid with epson salts?

    • @hellobushyl
      @hellobushyl  Місяць тому +2

      The citric acid/baking soda combo is the part that makes it fizz, otherwise it will just dissolve. You can try putting epsom salt in there and test to see how the experience is, but I think it would be risky calling it a shower steamer because people are probably going to expect the fizz. You’d maybe have to come up with a different product name and do some educating on how it’s different.

    I’m wanting to make a batch of eucalyptus scented. It’s soooo strong. One ounce seems like an overkill. Plus, these oils aren’t super cheap. Would you still use 1oz of eucalyptus oil? Or would you dilute it in a carrier oil like fractionated coconut oil? Did you dilute the lavender? That’ll take my entire bottle of lavender just for one batch😓

    Hello, I hope you see this and give me some advice please. I followed your recipe, I replaced the corn starch with arrowroot as I had that at home and I only added few grams of clay to give some colour. They expand in the mould and I have the sense that they fiz. They feel cold when I touch them. Do you think I put a lot of witch hazel?

    • @hellobushyl
      @hellobushyl  2 місяці тому

    • @hellobushyl

      I just find them to be a bit too strong. I like that my friends with kids don’t have to worry if one of the kids wants to throw them in the bath. Nothing against menthol, it’s just not worth the hassle for me.

    What function does the witch hazel have?

    • @hellobushyl
      @hellobushyl  Місяць тому +1

      The witch hazel partially activates the solution and adds just enough moisture to help hold the tablets together when you press them. Otherwise they’d be too dry and fall apart 😊

      Definitely don’t use oil because it can make the shower floor slippery and dangerous! You could try alcohol, or even just a splash of water might be the best thing.
