    @MotorcycleAuthority I have had a big change of heart in the last long 24 hours of thinking about how to manage everything with this bike over the long term. I plan to ride it, keep it, take care of it, and pass it down to my son. I now plan to order the service manual, some tools, and to start learning and doing things myself. This video is very encouraging. 🙂 I don't have blinders on and I know it is magnitudes harder than you make it look here. 1. Any suggestions on which service manual is best to buy? 2. Is there a Rune forum you use? 3. Below is the UA-cam the seller created. It will be delivered to me here in Virginia July 10th. Please take a look. Does everything seem okay? ua-cam.com/video/uipN89m0oG4/v-deo.html 4. The Seller did the below to show me the damage. What do you think about the damage. ua-cam.com/video/O_8n_LPL9mo/v-deo.html 🙂 Thanks for all your comments. 🙂

      I've watched the motorcycle videos, and the Honda Rune looks and sounds right. If you're looking for the silver piece, it might be available from Honda as NOS (new old stock). I managed to order one from a warehouse in Japan, and although it took a couple of weeks, it was well worth the wait. Regarding the paint, most Honda Runes feature a three-stage paint process, which can make repainting more complex and costly. While I’m not entirely certain about the black paint being a three-stage process, it's something to consider. The most cost-effective approach would be to remove the tank and any other parts needing repainting and take them to a paint shop. For the radiator shroud, if a new one is unavailable, a fiberglass shop can repair it effectively. There's a wealth of resources available through the Honda Rune Registry and the Honda Rune Owners Club on Facebook, which can provide invaluable assistance. I frequently check all the Rune forums I can find and use AI to help with searches. This project can be very enjoyable and manageable at your own pace. Lastly, before riding extensively, ensure the tires aren't too hard, as this can reduce traction. Best of luck, and enjoy your Honda Rune! I would love to hear about your experiences on this journey.

      Luckily, there are many fans of the Rune and forums to support the owners. Maybe you can learn new skills lol. It’s also possible to find a specialty shop somewhere. I have only had to change oil,filter and tires. Knock on wood. Enjoy it until that time comes.

      You might also find a better deal on eBay. The wire extension is for the lights on the tour pack. If you don't use the radio or CB antenna, that eliminates an extra step. Some people relocate the antennas to other locations on the bike. I simply used a different radio antenna and placed it under the seat without relocating the CB antenna."

      I did buy one and do service it myself as Honda UK has no idea. If you can work on a Goldwing then the rune is not much more difficult. Example. Rotary air valve a hard part in the UK, exact same part for a 2017 Goldwing just a different part number that any computer will not recognise. Ignition keys another issue, as only one came with the bike. On the Web I found a site called The remote doctor and he got two which I programmed curtesy of you tube.. Rotary air valve cost £480 sterling and two keys cost £40 sterling. Front master cylinder and lever original used part £200 sterling. If you have the passion the bike is a great piece of moving art. My test ride when bike was completed was a very Happy 500 mile test ride to the Isle of Man for the classic TT. Never missed a beat with 35 k on the clock it still cold starts with a coin on the rocker cover. Ride safe and be lucky. From Wales UK.

      I’m not sure so would trust anyone else to service it if I had one. My local Honda dealerships are funny about older bikes. One will not touch it is it is older than 2009 and the other goes back to 2004. They also want a fortune for labor ($150). I have had relatively rare bikes, and they didn’t know what to do with them. The zine would be even worse. It would sure be a head turner, though.

      It really depends on the comparison. For me it’s medium sized compared the larger Harley’s and the Rune. Even the MotoGuzzi California 1400 seems bigger. By engine size it’s not small but the overall feel seems medium to me. I think that is a compliment to triumph having a 1700 seem like that. So, medium it’s probably not by engine size. lol, thanks for the input.

    What you narrate about riding a motorcycle as a way to address depression and anxiety is bullshit.

    • @MotorcycleAuthority
      @MotorcycleAuthority 3 місяці тому

      The response to whether motorcycle riding can help with depressive and anxiety symptoms is nuanced. On one hand, engaging in motorcycle riding can offer a temporary diversion from personal issues, potentially alleviating symptoms of depression and anxiety by providing a sense of distance and clarity regarding one's problems. Riding can be a form of distraction that allows individuals to momentarily detach from their concerns and enjoy the present moment, which might contribute to a short-term improvement in mood and a reduction in anxiety levels. However, on the other hand, it's crucial to understand that motorcycle riding, while therapeutic for some, does not address the root causes of anxiety or depression. Mental health conditions like anxiety and depression often stem from complex interplays of biological, psychological, and environmental factors. Effective treatment usually involves a comprehensive approach, including therapy, medication, and lifestyle changes, tailored to an individual's specific needs. Therefore, while motorcycle riding can be a valuable addition to one's self-care regimen, it should not be viewed as a cure for mental health conditions. In essence, while motorcycle riding can provide temporary relief from symptoms of depression and anxiety, it is not a substitute for professional mental health treatment. Individuals struggling with these conditions are encouraged to seek help from qualified mental health professionals who can offer evidence-based treatments and support.

    In the 80s I was blessed to buy a brand new Moto Guzzi California II. I never, ever had one issue with it and drove it all over Europe but, never again in England because geez! You really have to concentrate due to the driving on the left but, after a while, you get used to it just not me right off the boat because in those days there wasn't a train tunnel yet. I would LOVE to drive today's Moto Guzzi California 1400 but we'll see because I'm an old fossil. ;-)

Curious,, where are you getting the OEM accessories? The Moto Guzzi website doesn't have a catalog,, granted the machine has been discontinued. Lmk 👌. Cheers 🍻, G. In beautiful Boulder City Nv. My Electriglide Ultra Classic is 20 years old this spring. My wife and I did many camping trips on it. Eighty-eight ci was, and is enough power to set the cruise on 90 and two up ride across several states in a day. Loaded it will wallow through corners at alow speed. The first 5 feet and the last 5 feet of a ride segment are where you need to be aware. Loaded it will eat a rear tire in 3,000 - 5,000 miles. I figured close to 1,200 pounds loaded. Don't put cheap tires on it, keep an eye on the brake pads, keep synthetic oil in it, and they will last. I promised my wife I would be done with the big bikes by the time I turn 70. I may have lied. I have several bikes I own and ride, so this one only has 70,000 miles on it. It may outlast me.

    In addition, for passenger comfort try the Kuryakyn adjustable passenger foot pegs. Also the adjustable tourpak rack. You are able to slide the pak back a couple inches. Does sound like much but it makes a difference in passenger comfort.
