The rod is 29" long. I'm not sure how much it weighs but my guess is between 15-20 lbs. If you need an exact weight I can take it off and weigh it on a scale.
I vote "yes" for the time-lapse videos!😃
Ok thanks for your feedback!
Awesome job 👊🏻
Nice job. Good video.
Thanks!
Derek, everything your doing I did to my unibody 62. Mint my friend, Terry. 😊
Thanks!
Very neat work. That truck will be nice and strong when your done welding all those patches in to it. What will you use for paint. Just a sealer. Then mats. I no you said the outside will be left alone. Cheers take care.
I'm not sure yet to be honest. At the moment the scope is to do all the metal work and hang the doors. I think it's going back to the owner after that. My choice would be to blast the underside, epoxy prime, seam seal all of the weld lines and panel joints, then seal and paint it. He has a second similar cab project to do right after this one.
Well me to. I would have to make it as nice as I could. I think old steel deserves to looked after, especially after all the work to make it sound.
OUTSTANDING!

Derek 25yrs ago I did the same thing on my 1962 Unibody F100 short bed. Replacement sheet metal parts were not available then. Carry on my friend.😊
GREAT VIDIO CARRT ON !
Good job you spotted the position of the A pillar. Thats another great tip to anybody doing work like this. Those little integrated patches worked well to give the pillar strength again. Will you do the passenger side to match next floors last? Enjoyed this episode. Cheers take care both.
My plan at the moment is to do the floors on the driver's side first and secure it completely. The passenger side has more through holes but seems to be securely attached where the driver's side was not. Unfortunately it will be repetitive but necessary. It should go faster though since I'll use a similar approach as the driver's side.
Is your box a short box or a long box.
It's shortened up.
Can you give me a length? I found a site that has the dimensions for both. I plan on making my own box the same as you.
Sure it's 56" long. I made it to just cover the end of the frame rails. My box is 44" wide as I used coupe/roadster fenders. If you have pickup rear fenders I think you have to make it wider if I remember correctly.
Thanks for sharing

Thanks for watching and posting a comment.
Nice work. So on this particular build, if the body needs to be removed, the firewall has to come off too, correct? I'm trying to decide whether or not to keep my firewall separate from my body and the floor I am building in my 32 roadster w/ Brookville body. Thanks for any insight..
Yes in this case the firewall is now part of the body like model As and after 32. It really stiffens up the cowl. I didn't do this on my 32 pickup, I wish I had. I got the idea from Jerry Kugel at Kugel Components in California.
👍
Boys, that firewall fits very well to that trans. On Brenda's roadster.
LoL yes it does!
Do you have any experience with 32 Chrysler coupe CH. I m new here and the ford looks like my Chrysler.
Hi, no I haven't any experience with a 32 Chrysler. It's a nice looking car for sure. Does it have a metal inner structure or wood? Some late 20s and early 30s cars have wooden inner structure. Ford had metal with some wood pieces.

16:42 the brake pedal? 🤔
Yep clutch pedal. Just a slip of the tongue.
Brake pedal was done in a previous episode but it was a bracket and pedal purchased from Brookeville Roadster so it just bolted in as is. No issues.
Oh lol I didn't even notice! Sorry slip of the tongue!
I'm about to start this. My A pillars are kinda weird (five window converted poorly many many years ago); how far out should the top hinge stick... maybe from the body to center of hole? Just a rough number would help. I can kind of gather it from looking at the video and approximating. Thanks again for all your help!

you have a nice clean shop and i enjoy watching THANKS
Hey Derek. I have a pair of smithy’s and cherry bombs , but ended up with flow master stainless mufflers. As for bending exhaust pipes I’ve got two old brake rotors off of the suburban that I’m going to bolt together back to back to make a channel. Then I was thinking some box to make two sides and a closing brace to hold the pipe for bending. I’ve not tried it yet, so I cannot say it works. You’ve made more good progress. Take care best wishes to you both.
Superb floor work. My preference for floor panels will be to make them all removable. ( I am ready to do them now. Old panels bad). Will use Nut-Serts for simple in and out maintenance. Your finish workmanship is excellent!
You can certainly make all the panels removable. Nutserts, welded inserts, and even self tapping screws would work. Thanks for watching!
great vidio thanks
HI DEREK, HAVE BEEN VIEWING FROM AUSTRALIA. YOUR METAL WORK IS VERY GOOD.. BUT - YOU ARE ALWAYS INFORMING US OF THE WORK, FABRICATION ETC, THAT YOU HAVE DONE, OR THE SAME IN YOUR PLANS WHAT YOU ARE GOING TO DO ( FUTURE JOBS ) WITH REGARDS TO THAT PARTICULAR JOB. YOU DON'T SEEM TO VIDEO A JOB IN DETAIL, IN HOW YOU DID THE WORK.. ? IN THE FUTURE CAN YOU SHOW US SOME - " HANDS ON " INSTRUCTION VIDEOS. ?? WE METAL FABRICATORS ALSO LIKE TO WATCH A VIDEO ON HOW A PART IS ACTUALLY MADE. WHETHER A LEARNER OR INTERMEDIATE IN METAL FABRICATING WE CAN ALL LEARN SOMETHING.. THANKS.. CHILL.. FROM OZ.
Hi, thanks for the feedback. We've been going back and forth with the idea of showing more again. We've done it in the past but took a break over our summer as it takes more time to make the video. We'll start adding more back in.
The four foot finger brake will make it nice ---- really handy -------- The Transmission plate ----- do you think it might flex some? A wide spread there ----- torque over time might fatigue the metal --- start cracking ------ I just looked through your Playlist and looked over your videos ----- on the curtained paint booth ---- are those just regular box fans? And is the epoxy primer is solvent based ----- so how you feel about a spark from fans ---- so much talk out there on getting explosion proof lights and fans --- What your thoughts --- since you are doing it? ----- The 32's are coming right along ---- AND ---- Looking Good ----- Hope you have a GOOD HALLOWEEN night ----- Rodney
Hi Rodney, the transmission cross member is 1/4" thick and is the same as Brookeville uses and has used for many years. I have the same in my 29 sedan with a 500 HP Windsor. It's pretty stiff. Yes the box fans are just regular residential fans and I'm using solvent based paint. I need to upgrade the fans. Those 2 fans pull a lot of air so much so that they pull the curtains in. Still a spark risk though, you're right.
Great job so far. I have a 1940 Dodge coupe and a 1941 Plymouth coupe so I will be following your 1940 Plymouth project closely. Thanks for sharing.
My roadster been on standstill Derek until I sort my life out. Not had a lot of luck this year. But I’m looking forward to a fresh start next year.
