Revisiting the 1932 Brookville Roadster Build (2022-2023) Episode One

E-165 Have you ever wonder how a 1932 roadster was put together? In this video (and a few more to follow), Derek fixes and assembles all the pieces and turns it into one special car. We picked up enough parts called "seconds" from a retired dealer in the summer of 2022 to build this 1932 roadster body.

The firewall feet are bolted to the frame and plug welded to the firewall .

Very interested in knowing more on how you got the seconds. I love to build a 32 roadster in peices like this. Buying a complete body is out of the cards . Love to know if you have a list of these peices and more info on finding out about seconds. Enjoying this build. Just found the channel and subscribed.

In our case we worked with a Brookville dealer who bought a lot of seconds from them. He put them together as kits, sometimes he would buy good pieces to complete the kit. Usually door skins weren't seconds. We did 5 bodies like this. He's 83 now so he stopped doing it. We know another dealer here and he's thinking about doing it just not committed yet. He did confirm though that he can definitely buy seconds when they're available but it's piece by piece. You can download the Brookville catalog off their website and it will give you an exploded diagram with all the parts to build their bodies.

Did you ever figure (roughly) how many hours it took to do all the repairs and get the body together? Save a lot of money going this direction?

I certainly didn't save money on the first one. We put 5 of these together in total. I figure on the second one I broke even on labour and by the 3rd one I was doing it for less than what Brookville charges for assembly. If you can get seconds panels you can save money too but they're not always available.

Derek. Is the X-member kit in the frame available separately from the frame? Who makes the X-member? Thanks

That frame came like that. I like the Brookville frames. We buy them boxed with x member and front/rear cross member. I don't know if they sell it separately. R-Jays speedshop sells one like it for $349 you can weld in.
