Back to Bob is a channel I created to showcase some of my projects and hobbies.
Content on this channel will not be solely focused on one hobby or field of interest. However, you can expect to see some content about cars, outdoor living, camping, firewood, home repairs / DIY, boating, and upgrades to anything within these hobbies. If I can make a how-to video that would have helped me with a project, I'll do my best to make one that could help others.

Building a Small Firewood Operation - Part 1 - Plans for a Wood Yard
My wife and I wanted to start making our own firewood, and potentially sell the excess that we may produce. Most will be sourced off the land currently, but we can also buy pulp wood relatively easy here in Central Wisconsin. Our children enjoy spending time at this land, and our first production of firewood was a lot of fun!
We plan to document this as a series, and I'll keep the thumbnails all the same as we grow - with the exception of adding "part 2" etc to each one. Once again I have to thank you, my subscribers, for following along on our UA-cam journey.
Primary tools used in this video:
- Wolfe Ridge 28C log splitter
- Jonsered 2253 chainsaw
- Stihl 500i chainsaw
- Jonsered lifting tongs
- Milwaukee M18 cordless chainsaw
- LogOx 3-in-1 tool
Thanks for watching!

Unboxing a NEW Husqvarna 450 Chainsaw From 2009!
Переглядів 95010 місяців тому
I thought this would be kind of fun to show. Unboxing a NEW Husqvarna 450 chainsaw from 2009. This saw has lived in the box for 15 years now and will continue to until I have a nice place to display it. In 2009, my father and I started a chainsaw / lawn mower repair shop in our small town. Our first brands were Jonsered and Toro. Shortly after getting started we were able to connect with Husqva...
Answering Some Questions About the Morso 7110 Wood Stove

I've done a couple other videos with this wood stove and had some questions from people that I thought I could answer and address in this one. The wood stove is a Morso 7110, with the optional fresh air kit. I used some flexible air ducting from AC Infinity to connect to the wood stove, and left it long in the event it got damaged I could just cut it shorter. The chimney is a double wall non in...
Getting my Jonsered 2253 Chainsaw Ready - A Relative of the Husqvarna 550XP

Replacing the bar and chain on my Jonsered 2253 chainsaw. This saw is essentially a red Husqvarna 550XP. I have a soft spot for Jonsered chainsaws as my father and I used to run an outdoor power equipment dealership selling them. Started that business in 2009. Jonsered had been owned by Husqvarna for quite some time, so a lot of saws between companies had similarities. In the case of the 2253 v...

Rear Defroster Stopped Working - Then I Fixed it - 2022 Ram 1500

I had noticed that the rear defrost on my truck had either been working poorly or not working at all. In the past week we had really wet, foggy weather and I especially noticed the inside of the truck fogging up easier in the rear, and really wanted to make it better. I had done a repair similar to this in our 2010 Yukon, and it has held for a long time. Technically the truck is still under 3/3...
Stihl 500i - Adding Dogs and Bottom Plate to my saw and Weighing Different Configurations

Recently I purchased a Stihl 500i, and as always I can not "leave well enough alone." If for no other reason, I thought the big dogs looked aggressive and cool, but they will also help dig into the logs more when cutting. I added the undercarriage protection plate as well, just as a precaution. I plan to use this saw, but I also want it to stay looking as new as possible. You can see in this vi...

A while back I made a video installing the winter front on my 2022 Ram with the 3.0 EcoDiesel engine in it. As well, I showed the routing of the extension cord for the block heater. This last week I had the opportunity to put it to the test, and this combination kept the truck warm! You can see the block heater kept the truck engine about 59 degrees when it was -15 outside. About a 75 degree sp...
Heat Powered Wood Stove Fan and Top Down Fire Starting

One thing that I've been thinking about getting for quite some time has been a fan that's powered by heat from the top of the wood stove. I've read a lot of different things on these fans, and recently got to see one in person. It didn't move a ton of air, but I thought it was pretty cool so I ordered one for myself. In addition to the fan, I decided to try the "top down" fire starting method f...

Making Small Splits for the Wood Stove - Using a Kindling Cracker
Переглядів 3,2 тис.Рік тому
Kindling is key for starting a fire quickly and easily - in my opinion. I will still use a quality fire starter, but also 5-6 pieces of kindling to initially start the fire. Starting the fire with nice small kindling, produces small coals quickly so you can add the larger pieces of firewood and get a hot fire with less waiting. I've found kindling to be even more important when lighting a smoke...

Safety First - Cleaning the Wood Stove Chimney Before Our First Fire of the Season
I put super springs on the front of my 2006 2500. Raised the truck almost 3 inches and I did the lighter duty of their 2 offers on the truck. Truck definitely rode a lot rougher but didn't even squat with my boss 8'2" V plow hanging off the front. Timberins would of been a better idea to maintain tide quality. Of course, the factory coils had close to 200,000 miles on them.
I have a 1981 Rabbit Diesel and when it gets below 25 if I dont plug it in it straight up wont start

Hey Bob, Nice to see the whole fam working. Looks like a nice place you have there. Maybe you'll see this comment, video I see is 9months old. Anyway hello from Jon and Ginny (Mis Beaver)if you forgot. Lol😂

However things change over decades and yes You have guessed it , it’s normally me that does this 😩 It will be fun tomorrow , My great granddaughter is staying tonight ( she’s 5 ) I’m only 64 though 😂 And for fun , I’ll show her how to light the fire and obviously show her safely ( they have gas central heat heating .) All the best for Christmas and the new year of 2025
For the squeaky latch try graphite or aluminum anti seize grease. Nice stove I am thinking about getting this for my 600 sqft cabin in the ADK. Any updates you would like to share with me?
@@jonathanlozier4329 It’s been great, burning right now actually. For a 600 sq ft cabin I think it would be amazing. It’s a touch small for a 1500 sq ft house LOL. Some day when we build a cabin this stove will end up there, and I’ll get something a touch bigger for home. But it has been a great stove.
@BacktoBob1 I use a Avalon Olympic insert for a 2k sqft home...keeps it nice...inwish I installed the cold air intake , that seems to be a useful option.
Thank you. I just fixed mine. The little button didn't fall off on mine, it was just unplugged. But your video showed me what to look for. Same exact truck
@@BrentJordan-y4m Awesome I’m glad it helped!

Wrong routing location for the plug.
I also have a 550 and 562xp. I went to buy a 572xp but got to try the 500i.. I now own a 500i. It’s just a bad ass saw. I have been running a 25in bar, but recently bought a 32 after watching Buckin Billy Rays channel and his standing up to buck method. My back has thanked me. Why my MacBook Pro m1 is stuck at 1080 on 4k monitor? could it be the monitor issue? tried so many different cables and nothing works?

Didn’t know I had the same stove as you! I’m on my 3rd season with mine. It’s a quality stove, only complaint from me is the short burn times.
Agreed!
I also have this model. I find the air vent makes little difference when you slide it all the way down, fire burns a touch slower, that’s it. What I’ve done is cover the round air intake on the back with aluminum foil. I find it makes a noticeable difference, slows down the burn speed and extends the burn time. Works for me, I’m sure Moroso would not recommend this lol!
@ I’ve noticed that as well. The last 3/4” of sliding control on the left makes 80% of the adjustment. Kind of annoying.
Hi Bob! Pretty cool stories on starting your axe collection! Makes me want to start collecting! Best, -- J. Andre. / Old Iron Acres

Hello from Maine! I was blessed to get a 7110 this summer. I haven’t hooked it up yet. It looks as though it only has only been used a few winters. But I was wondering if I’m missing any parts above the lower heat baffles. Mine has a white insulation blanket that simply rests on the lower baffles. Is that how yours is? Thanks for this excellent video!!
@@jdotte So basically yeah there are two big metal pieces that sit up there, and then that white insulation just sits up there. Hard to believe. Mine looks a little rough but I’m surprised not worse based on how the flames a right up against it.
@@BacktoBob1 thanks for the reply! Yeah hard to believe that’s the design. Is there also fire brick above the insulation? I’ll have to investigate mine.

Hey Bob quick question. Ive had my TA for 5 years 2018 5.7 any tips for maintaining the Satin finish on the hoods and etc. did you do anything to the exhaust as well. @@forceoneX Factory catback, kooks long tubes with catted mid pipe, honestly it’s pretty loud in sport mode I’d try it before doing muffler delete. For the black I use chemical guys meticulous matte on the black. The roof and trunk are wrapped black vinyl and always look good. The hoods on these are actually painted factory color, then scuffed and painted low gloss black and I wish it was wrapped. The hood it the hardest part to keep looking nice in my experience.
What's your furnace thermostat set at ? Too bad that Morso handle was not set right for use.
@@annaaron3510 I keep my furnace set to 68. It usually doesn’t need to run again until 5-6AM if I stop feeding the fire at 10PM the night before.

Same issue here.
The two worst things I have heard about the 500i are the price and the fact that it sucks gas like no ones business. Oversize bucking spikes serve no practical application for 99.9% of chainsaw users, some think they look "cool" but I imagine most of those people also put 36" mud tires on a street truck. That said, your saw-do as you will! Also, the long bars that are advocated by a certain massive cult actually cause more of an issue than a benefit. They increase the speed of part failure exponentially on all saws, cause more strain on the back because you have to move it around more to keep the tip clear as well as creating a massive danger of snagging it in the woods when felling. Even the "West Coast" loggers that advocate massive spikes and 32" plus bars are living in a fantasy world these days for the most part. Those trees are long gone except in rare encounters but people see the channels who deal in putting compensators on their saws and think it is the only way! Oh well, keep cutting!
@@turtlewolfpack6061 I love this saw. You are right the dogs are just for fun. I’m still running a 25” light bar on it but I want to put a 20” light bar on it for most of the firewood I do is smaller in diameter. You are right also it DRINKS the fuel!
@@BacktoBob1 one of my favorite saws (yes, I have a new saw that could be considered better) is an old McCulloch Titan 57 that a buddy gave me three years ago packed full of saw dust and every line rotted off. This spring me and my youngest boy cleaned it up, plumbed it with new line and I was surprised that the carburetor was fine. It cuts awesome and sips fuel with a 20" bar. I have been stockpiling small parts for it to make sure it will run for years to come.
@@turtlewolfpack6061 That’s awesome
@turtlewolfpack6061 I think the reports of it sucking gas is that people are using a 80cc saw bucking vs their old 60cc and not looking at the work accomplished. I feel like I burn through a tank really fast, but then I look back and I’ve processed an entire big oak. I use a 25in for general purpose, but I keep a 32 and have come to like it being able to stand up to buck logs. Different strokes for different folks kinda deal. As far as wear and tear it is what it is and nothing lasts forever. That’s not a throw money away statement it’s a takes money to make money. Or time is money who knows.
@demcq9534 that makes sense. However, 10 minutes on a tank vs 30 makes a huge difference to someone not as skilled as others. Don't get me wrong, the 500i is an engineering marvel, but for most people a 362 or 400 is simply more practical.
Happen to remember if this also affected the defrost mirrors? Neither my mirrors or back work and I can see my cable is broken off like yours

You'd better keep some ashes before starting a new fire......
why?
@@oldsteamguy it's included in the Morso 7110b manual, but I bet other manuals include this in instructions. The layer of ash insulates the start-up fire. More insulation means a quick jump to clean, efficient operating temps.
@@ceegmanthat’s my thoughts . Never empty the ash until you need to . I’m in the U.K. and have heard of the Morso fires , there supposed to be very good . Now , I o notice with the grate and the ash pan it must be a multi fuel fire , so if burning just wood , I’ll let the ashes build up on the grate and the ash pan gets emptied maybe twice a week , it burns better with the ash and actually uses less wood . Now if Your burn wood through the day which I do , then at night get the fire hot , give the grate a quick poke and riddle to get air below put some smokeless coal on 2 medium shovels ( like a dust pan ) will keep the house lovely and warm until mid morning . If burning wood an empty fire ( no ashes ) is hungry fire . Give it a try . Best wishes for Christmas and New Year 2025 😀

I have the same issue with a TS4 dock, but I already have expensive quality USB-C to DP1.4 cables. I also have 2 identical monitors that show different resolution options and one of them can get refresh rates up to 180Hz and the other up to 60Hz. But if I switch cables the problem remains (doesn't switch monitors). So I'm thinking of a hardware issue on the monitor now.
@@DenCato It is really frustrating. Mine would show 60 on one and 30 on another. With these monitors I can only do 60hz max but 30hz is miserable. I wish you luck!
The Johnson red version of the 560xp is probably one of the rarest. Identical to a 562xp but with small bar mount pattern. The 560xp was not officially sold in north America. But the Johnson red version was. . An older rare one is the gen1 2071/2072 made around 1998 to 2010 Johnson red, i think thats right? The full rap JR handle or regular handle, is very difficult to find. The 2 bolts that attach to the fuel tank are a slightly different spacing then the husqvarna version. . 2010~ was basically the real start to the emissions.
