I've got the TYT 9800 and Anytone 6666 in the truck - but I just bought a 5555n. The 5555N hard to find right now at least in the US it is. I wish I'd have bought that one first, but the 6666 is a great radio too aside from a few minor quirks / annoyances.
Just got the II version for 10m use. New to export type rigs so the band groupings is different. This is huge for a "mobile" radio so it'll be a base rig.
My friend said the audio was the best of all my radios. Very good. Muffled audio is probably due to improper mic technique. Putting mic right up against your lips. Six inches is close enough.
@@Airwaves-Radio okay yeah just watched it im looking for a 10 meter usb lsb, am fm radio that can also do multimode cb too thats why i asked the mod seems simple ua-cam.com/video/Dc4hbsVUuJA/v-deo.html&ab_channel=AtomkeySinclair i was looking for the president hr2510 but i cant find one in my price range 200-300 guaranteed to be working
Question I have, Can I put the CB channels in this radio. ? That way if I’m on the road I can check out the traffic with the truckers and I have friends on the 11 Meters Band also. Thanks
I figured it out. It is a RX tone button. HI CUT on is soft sounding. Off is trebly sounding. There is also a tone button that governs roger beep on/off. It can be very confusing.
I have seen videos where you could mod using a combination of switch pressing, but that must be an older model. The one I have requires soldering a bridge between two points on the circuit board.
There is something called BP which there is no adequate explanation. Mine got turned on. How i don't know. The instructions to turn it off do not work.
An AM/FM antenna combo would not be practical, especially if you want to transmitt with it. I built a FM antenna, about 10 years ago. I'll see if I can find it, and do a review on it. Really not difficult to build a 1/4 wave antenna. AM is much more complicated and larger to build an effective antenna. Plus, I have no use for one.
I got the 6666 last year, and it was between the 5555n and the 6666. There was something about the regular 5555 I didn't like, idr what - but the 5555n struck my chord. Anyway - just bought one, or I think I did anyway. High bidder on ebay so I'll find out tomorrow. I hope so, they're REALLY hard to find right now. The only thing I don't really like about the 6666 is that if you switch to VFO mode, change the channel, then back to channel mode - it changes that channel without having to push a "set" button. At least that's what I remember it doing I forget exactly how to replicate it, but its easy to accidentally bork your frequency on a channel.
Mine doesn't get particularly hot, but idk - maybe the finals do and I just dont notice? I also transmit at minimum power needed to get out. If I'm on max to find someone, when I do find, I back power off until they start losing me.
Today/ 3/13/21, at 2:00PM EST, South America was rolling in on 10m. I talked to Chile, Panama, and Uruguay. Also heard Mexico and Costa Rica, all with strong signals.
Just got one of these 2nd hand and love it. Also have the TYT 9800 here in NZ

Yes I got one and very happy with the radio, and I have Anytone AT-6666 on my truck no complaints so far, both radios are very good.
I got the CRT SS7900 Same model. Its very good compared to other 10 mtr radios.
Great information,... watching from Kentucky “ The Bluegrass State “ over and out my friend
instablaster...
Have you ever heard an occasional loud static pop noise during receive? Mine done this and not sure if this is normal or not.
Yes, that is usually from a lightning strike or other electrical discharge nearby.
Thank you for the video. I know the AT-5555N II is out now. Curious if it is better than the 6666.
How do these radios sound on am I ordered 1 it arrived at my door today some people say on am they sound muffled just curious thanks

Yes, the radio can be modified to cover CB band and more. Info is readily available on the internet. Of course it's not legal to do so.
I just got one. I am a ham. There is no explanation of ' HI CUT '. Can someone tell me what that is ?

No mention on the Anytone AT-5555N (Echo Function)?
If there's an echo feature, I haven't found it. BTW, I'm a Hoosier too!
@@Airwaves-Radio hold the band switch for 2-3 seconds...............ECHO echo
Why are you running echo on 10M?
Good job little buddy
Thanks Skipper!
Do you have to mod the board for 11 meters or is it just a change in settings

Very dark video can't see much.
Wear you guys talking from what city?
So I have this rig but cannot find the programming software. Do you know anywhere I can obtain it?
anytone.net/download2.html
Try this. If you need the programming cable, it's on Amazon.
@@Airwaves-Radio Got the cable just could not find the software. Thank you!!!
12m?
Very cool. I've tried repeatedly to watch, but my internet is so bad, it runs 15 sec and stops. Over & over.
I was to surprise how big it is. I thought it be much smaller.
Me too until yesterday. I suppose it's the size of an old Cobra 148?
The other version of this radio is known as the ANYTONE 5555+. It is a different radio.
There is something called BP which there is no adequate explanation. Mine got turned on. How i don't know. The instructions to turn it off do not work.
I think that may be the beep setting, so you hear a beep whenever you press a button.
I ordered 1 today
Can you do a video of how to make your own am FM radio antenna? I'm asking because I'm using coil crap cable and I need ideas 👍
Are you asking for an AM and FM antenna, or just a FM?

Not anytime soon. Need to put up a tower as a priority.
I got the Anytone At-6666, works great for 10 meters mobile. It does 60 watts on ssb.

I never hear no one I'm on 28345
0 and I don't hear no one.
10m is pretty dead right now. I don't hear anyone either. According to a propagation report I read, there may be an opening around March 20.
10m is tied to sunspot activity.
