Go to timpsons the shoe repair stores that are usually in the supermarkets for a replacement I paid £50 for a replacement. The guy I had was really helpful. He said from the dealers it would be over £200. It was for a Citroen romahome and it happened the night before I was going away, it went on the rubber patch you press to make it work. . I got to the store just before he was finishing but stilled helped me

Can you not use some of the items in your van build. I expect you have already thought of it but is it worth a car boot sale ? Take care hope it all comes together for you and you can get rid of the storage unit to save some money. Your dog is such company I have a Jack who has a bit of staffy in him and he’s such company especially when I go away.

You might show those of us not from the UK something around England, which is always a popular subject for us foreigners. Naturally, you'll want to keep your exact parking spots secret, so random travelers won't start rolling up unannounced and banging on your van door, but if you go about on your errands and pass a neat old estate with an interesting story, pop out and film a bit and tell us a bit of the story. (Sometimes, if the estate is a going tours and events place, they'll let you tour the place for free, just for the free advertisement.) Some of the old pubs seem to have a lot of history and interesting back stories to them. So, you could hop out, video the outside, pop in for a pint, and chat up the pub master for any interesting bits about the place. (Any ghosts?!) Tell him you're a UA-camr and see if he wouldn't mind you recording your chat with him. Just pop your phone on the little stand and set it on the bar and chat away. Maybe do a quick walk around the place if it has several rooms. Are there any interesting local characters around town you could interview? (The local cop could probably point you to a few if you don't know of any.) Are there any other towns or villages nearby that might be interesting.? To start, just do closer ones, to save on using too much gas. Later, you may start making enough money from your UA-cam videos that you could afford to go further afield, and even tour some interesting ones you've never seen yourself. Let us tour them right along with you. I'd Google them first, scan the Wikipedia page before going, and any interesting news items your search pulls up. (And, who knows, you might pass the odd estate auction along the way. You could pick up some stuff for resale while you're at it!) You seem to be a naturally inquisitive person, so just follow your nose. I bet you'll do great!😊

I bought a £500 ford transit ex builders van high top long wheel Base van never looked back only reget should done it years ago ,with high household bills and high cost of living costs it makes sense to van it love my own space ,I am lonely person anyway have no family only my staffy chrile I have very low costs now per month love it you only get one life people live it now cheers si🎉🎉🎉

I live in my van.My only problem is at night time.I snore when I sleep so it attracts passers by,dog walkers,drunk teenagers etc.Who tend to wake me up one way or another.There are very few places to park round here where there are no people around.So privacy at night time is a big problem!

Nice video! what enticed us to make the move? Apart from the freedom - We thought we'd do it now whilst we are young enough and before the state decides to control us more. They can't lock us down if we haven't got a house!!!

People who are in a bit of a desperate situation.ie. if they can't pay the rent any longer and need to get out asap . They may well be in a situation where they already have a car or small van ,if that's the case use that vehicle as a starting point, bung a mattress in it and create a descent enough sleeping area.Everything else will fall into place as you go . Iv done this and it's an adventure, it's surprising how easily you can get used to it ,safe in the knowledge you are better off financially and in control ,that's a great feeling. Park ups I use are hotel carparks ,pub carparks , residential /industrial areas I'm 63 and have a small Vauxhall astra van .yes it's small but Its perfectly do able for starters . As kev says it's fear of the unknown.But within a few months it will all fall into place. We all need an adventure now and again because we become stale and boring (I certainly did ) same old ,same old . Ps I go to the loo in my van ,I have my methods and they work well with no problems.

Is it legal to sleep in a vehicle in England? Here in Queensland Australia it's illegal unless you're in a designated camping area. So we fear "the knock" on the window when innocently parked up. Doesn't stop van dwellers, just makes it harder. Another very thoughtful video. Thanks Kev.

So many people are held back by 'what other people will think' and by 'what if....'

Van life can come with its many pros and cons. you must have some steady income coming in every month in order to van living or have a job. it seems easy because you live rent free and don't have to pay any rent which is one of its pros,but there are many cons you have to weigh up as well like auto insurance, safety, vehicle maintenance, high gas prices, safe places to park, you name it. van living is just not for the fainthearted and for everyone.

Crusty van weirdos all over cumbria shitting in the verges and dumping black bags down lanes n next to my paud for bins. £2000 per year license please, to clean up mess, along with zero tolerance parking. You can't just run away at everone else's expense.

Yes I have the fear of being a lone female and the vulnerability of being on my own in a car park or lay-by etc x
