We are seriously overpopulated in Rochester NY. Crime is at an all time high but yes prices are better than like CA of course. It's not all bad, just beware what area you move into.

Well, there’s no jobs in Rochester so that’s why housing prices are so cheap so I don’t know. Why would you call Rochester a gem I mean that’s just delusional.

We have a great city. We should not sweep our challenges under the rug. Our schools performance and student outcomes are very concerning. You may have skimmed over our report card in your video, but if you pause it, its not good. Not many small towns in NY have a 43% reading proficiency and 36% Math proficiency. No matter what way you spin it, the vast majority of our grads are not passing. They are simply aging out of school- by NY State standards. Those stats are shockingly bad for a school district that taxes the public over $26,000.00 per child, per year. This has been our largest hurdle for growth, as we have been losing about 10 families a year, for the last 15 years with a steady -3% population decline.

One answer it was the lack of qualified jobs in Area! Tourism only happens in late Spring through the Sumer and early Fall! Hardly no tourist in sight during the Winter!

I'm a Wayne County redneck, but I've spent a lot of time in Geneva. It has kept that "small town" feel, yet it has the Smith Opera House, breweries, a wide range of dining options, great antique shops and other small shops, etc. Due to it's rural proximity it has some political "tempering" that prevents it from sliding into the usual Democrat doom loop. The IDA is very proactive and there are many community resources.

Wayne County: My family has lived here since 1811, many other families have the same legacy. Some of the best things about Wayne County: 1) No major metro areas. 2) Traditional American lifestyles and values. 3) Wide range of faith options/churches. 4) Beautiful and bountiful lake access, state parks, hunting, trapping, etc. 5) A multitude of historic areas/buildings. 6) Relatively low crime rates/2nd Amendment friendly!

Been here for 2 months .. the salmon fishing is awesome . The malls are small . The city is bad. I like the weather it’s always cold here.

This summer has been great? I'm born and raised 585, and the summertime here is hotter than an mf. This year's summer way too damn hot (the usual heat) the winter here? Horrible. 1997 people were locked either in their homes or if at work there for more than 3 days due to the wi ter weather. Tell the truth, buddy. Princess is high as far. Non-stop violence, which honestly takes away from the good what the ROC had.

Random thought. I grew up a couple of hours away in Binghamton. We usually got our first snow around Thanksgiving. We always had white Christmases. That's shifted. We now get our first snow, that sticks, after the new year. We MIGHT get a little patchy snow, with grass sticking through it for Christmas. But it's usually just cold, gray, and rainy. Having grown up with snow for the holidays, it makes it harder to get in the spirit.

I moved to Rochester in 2021. My car window was broken within the first two weeks. Totally sick of all the crime and drug use in the city. The small cities outside are indeed the much better option. I used to call that place the 'thunderdome'

I own a 1900 sq/ft, 4 br, 2 bath home on just over a 1/4 acre currently worth about $245,000. Because I am a senior, my property taxes are about $1,600 combined. I live in a western suburb with very little crime. The schools are great and you can travel anywhere in the county in less than an hour. We are also close to both water and the mountains. Winters have become shorter and the Spring, Summer and Fall are great.
