I live in rochester, and need a new place in a few months. Steady job but no savings, due to things taken out of checks i make about $1,200 a week. Any suggestions if i'm looking for a 2 or 3 bedroom allowing dogs.....am i designated to the ghettos?

The Suburbs are great I lived in Spencerport and in Greece, no crime to notice and taxes was not bad, Wegmans is hands down the best Grocery store in the USA, and there are Pizza to die for.

I grew up in a small town not far from Canandaigua in the 1970's. Went to St. Mary's School. Jobs were also hard to come by when I was growing up there. Forced me to move out of state. The last time I was there was there. It was about 18 years ago. It was still a great place. I miss the area from time to time.

Fairport has done really careful planning over the years, so the moment it warms up just enough, you bundle up and can take a short walk right by the canal. For some reason often the canal is not frozen over as might be expected, so you can enjoy watching and listening to the water flowing in the canal. Yes, you may well see a hardy outdoorsman in a kayak on the canal! The smell of the coffee is great as you walk along the waterside trail. Rochester is an very musical city, due to the Eastman school of music being there. The region offers innumerable live music concerts at almost every conceivable venue. All the libraries near Rochester have beautiful, well maintained, pianos that library patrons donate generously to upkeep and to sponsor all four seasons concerts of music of every variety. Heavy wintertime moods are lifted by all the music, the small film houses or theaters and places like libraries, draft beer houses running weekend themed movie festivals. Many of these busy small business shops, often in large converted industrial buildings, also house many studios of painters, printers, interior designers, woodworking, pottery, etc. Many of the studios are connected to Toronto, Canada's largest metropolitan city, about two hours away. Of course, everyone up there masters a kind of duck waddle, to avoid slippery ice. The stores sell boots of a wide variety of styles that everyone wears all winter long. The Monroe County schools are solid, sound with consistently high ratings. Yes, he's right, there is a kind of sublime, subtle beauty of blue skies, high white clouds because Lake Ontario is nearby. NYS has won nationwide awards for utility performance and addressing power affordability challenges. The engineering tech sector of the Rochester area has been part of comprehensive, commendable efforts in initiating new innovations.

Since the 60s, Rochester has a Blythe of a crescent. It begins on Jefferson Ave on the Westside and continues up to Upper Falls blvd. Then the crecent continues to Culver of the Beachwood neighborhood. For mamy years the city was tried to upgrade this Crecent to no use.

We are seriously overpopulated in Rochester NY. Crime is at an all time high but yes prices are better than like CA of course. It's not all bad, just beware what area you move into.

Well, there’s no jobs in Rochester so that’s why housing prices are so cheap so I don’t know. Why would you call Rochester a gem I mean that’s just delusional.

We have a great city. We should not sweep our challenges under the rug. Our schools performance and student outcomes are very concerning. You may have skimmed over our report card in your video, but if you pause it, its not good. Not many small towns in NY have a 43% reading proficiency and 36% Math proficiency. No matter what way you spin it, the vast majority of our grads are not passing. They are simply aging out of school- by NY State standards. Those stats are shockingly bad for a school district that taxes the public over $26,000.00 per child, per year. This has been our largest hurdle for growth, as we have been losing about 10 families a year, for the last 15 years with a steady -3% population decline.

One answer it was the lack of qualified jobs in Area! Tourism only happens in late Spring through the Sumer and early Fall! Hardly no tourist in sight during the Winter!
