I was born and raised in Rochester but left over 50 years ago. Lots of changes since then. This is really helping me get re-oriented. BTW Highland Park, Seneca Park, Genesee Valley Park, and Maplewood Park were all designed by Frederick Law Olmstead, the same man who designed Central Park. The river and canal were the lifeblood of Rochester and some forward thinking folks donated land for the parks and they hired the best there was to build them and that's how we ended up with all this wonderful greenery.
I’m moving to Rochester and have to get a rental for now. I learned so much about the different style of houses and areas I should look into. This couldn’t have been posted at a better time! Thanks for your work!
look for a place in the subburbs of rochester ny ,I lived in Rochester ny from a baby until I was age 30 in 2001,I moved to a town 1hr away geneseo ny and been there ever since the subburbs of Rochester are a lot better then the city
Good effort, finally an honest overview by someone who actually knows the area. One thing tho; nobody anywhere refers to highland park area as”North Brighton” 😂
@@Livingflxandrochesterny I was part of the exodus in the late 70's and my family left for Phoenix. I do have to go back at some point, I have an aging mother that still lives in Farmington.
I liked your video, it was very well explained. If you don’t mind asking, Do you have any information about Batavia, ny? I’m concerned about safety, I’m relocating with my family. Thanks in advance.
I'm looking to relocate from Deltona FL to the Rochester area are you available to be our guide in buying? We love the city and need someone who is familiar with the area. We're looking for spring or summer relocation. I have a couple of wants but not ridiculous like fenced yard for the dogs, college to get my masters, and close to the job market. We prefer low crime and large backyard and a great finished basement. Preferably 3+ bedrooms. Brockportwo Would work for us but no HOA. We currently do a one hour commute to Orlando so if we can decrease that I'm satisfied.
A little early very good info, the green is good to know because I’m coming from NW, West Coast. Got to have the green areas. All the Christian churches is a good thing to have also. 👍🏻🇺🇸☕️. ✝️🌺

the nice parts of Rochester which are not in Rochester are old homes that have been cleaned. the lowest amount of sunshine than any other city in the country. no summers. the houses in the nice area are grimmy looking. but they talk it up because they want to keep property values up
lilac fest beware..... many walk away with GI issues and hepatitis. oh yes, whats scary its not a joke. it is not central park in the least. its just a wooded area.
@DElaineBlume You get what you pay for. They are pretty much both extensions of the city, like Henrietta (to the south) and Chili (to the west). Both school districts are so-so. Better than the city, worse than Pittsford, Brighton, etc. One town "up" from those two would be Webster. Then Fairport, Victor, Brighton, Pittsford.

I think of that as the Cobb's Hill Area. Very close to Highland Park and the beginning of Brighton.
Brings back a lot of memories to see my childhood home, I lived right above where it says 'Greece canal park' @12:01
Why’d you move? Where’d you move to? Ever consider moving back?

Rochester is huge. Wowza
A lot bigger then L.A (the WORST PLACE EVER)
rochester is really small. and the entire city shuts down at 5pm. and the police stalk anyone outside
Correction, 3 major hospitals in Rochester. Strong. Highland. Park Ridge near Unity.
