Actually I thought it would be a good theory that Sora would embrace his darkness because in previous games there were signs that Sora was giving in more to that side. In reality I always took Sora as the balance between Light and Darkness while Riku symbolizes the Darkness and Kairi the Light. So if u look at it in that light, he used her. Another example Hades. Yes he did go on to use Hades on how he could control the darkness, but he never 100% trusted Hades. His thought process was "I'll go along with this and see where this goes." And he knew Hades had an alterier motive. And when he saw that, he freed Zack from Hades control. And I don't blame Terra for trusting Xehanort because and I know people are going to hate me for saying this, but Aqua and Eraqus didn't really trust or believe in him for real. Especially Eraqus. And the things Xehanort was telling Terra until the end wasn't really wrong. Vanitas and the unversed needed to be stopped, Ventus needed to be protected from Eraqus, and light and darkness needs to be of equal balance to each other. Terra was insecure about himself. He wants to do right and protect by the people he cares about and Xehanort fed right into that.
